  • Typical salafi gibberish...

  • Such traditions were forged by camp-followers of the Umayyads, after the martyrdom of Imam Husayn, as a part of their campaign to turn the 10th of Muharram into a day of rejoicing. These traditions are of the same genre as those which say that it was on the 10th of Muharram that Noah's ark rested on Mount Arafat, the fire became cool and safe for Abraham, and Jesus ascended to the heaven, exhorting Muslims to treat 'Ashura as a festival of joy, and to store one's food-grain. Astaghfirallah.

  • Inshallah Shaykh Waleed will learn to articulate himself in English. Our Lord, open his heart, make easy his affair and untie the knots on his tongue!!!

  • These traditions of fasting are fabricated in order to white wash the tragedy of the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (as).

Does it even make sense to you that the Muslims would learn to fast just because the Jews did it?

  • Jazikullah khayran Shaykh Waleed Basyouni for giving us this tip that we as Muslims can benefit from to help improve our deen.

  • Oh my gosh, we really have a battle with Sunni and Shia beliefs? This video is geard towards Sunni Muslims so why Shias come over to the Sunni videos I don't know. War isn't suppose to be started over Ashara between Muslims regardless of sect.

  • Yet NOT ONE mention of Hussain! I guess it was just a co-incidence right? A day Rasool Prophecised his son would be slayed on the lands of kerbala, thirsty and hungry, and suffering, it just HAPPENED to be on the day of Ashura. The true followers dont talk about this day with a smile on our faces thinking of only ourselves and our sins being forgiven. This day is for al-HUSSAIN and those companions with him. Those who truely saved Islam.

  • so for those who do not want to jump at this opportunity of expiation of previous sins, then suit yourself.

  • On this day fasting is encouraged as in the sunnah not for any other reason but because it EXPIATES THE SINS OF THE PAST YEAR. read the ahadeeth of the prophet s.a.w.

  • Start from the 9th comment and read upwards. Thanks!

  • I do not mean to offend anyone or cause disunity, im merely standing up for the truth. May Allah guid our hearts towards the straight path and elevate us to the highest level of Jannah iA.

    Salam :)

  • @PassionForPeace92 good job in explaining! Thanks!

  • Please open your eyes brothers and sisters. This is a day not to be celebrated, Yazid was an enemy of Allah who tried to destroy the teachings of our beloved Prophet (pbuh) and when Imam Hussain stood up to this oppressor he was martyred, Let us carry on the message that Imam Hussain was trying to send instead of trying to cover up the truth. He stood up for justice, freedom, truth and for ISLAM....

  • Therefore NONE of these narrators (other than Ibn Abbas who was 4 at the time, so would you really take his narration as authentic?) were at the incident that supposedly happened 1st year of Hijra...

  • Abu Hurayra was no where to be seen in Madina also untill after the battle of Khayber. Also when Umar ibn Al-Khattab sent him to be governor of Bahrain in the year 21 Hijra he later found out that he was selling hadiths for money so can we really trust all his narrations. Finally Mu’awiya converted to islam in the year 8 Hijra...

  • Ibn Abbas was born 3 years before hijra making him 4 years old at the time. Abu Musa was not seen in Madina untill after the battle of Khayber, 7th Hijra because the Prophet (pbuh) sent him back to yemen after he had converted to islam 1 year before hijra, to spread the message of islam in Yemen....

  • He said

"We have more right to Musa than you," so he fasted on that day and commanded [the Muslims] to fast on that day. [Reported by al-Bukhari, 1865] (It is also reported in Sahih Muslim)

But i ask you..how authentic is this hadith? There are 4 people who are in the chain of this narration. Ibn Abbas, Abu Hurayra, Ibn Musa Al Ash’ari, Mu’awiya Ibn Abi Sufyan. And where were they at the time that this incident supposedly took place, in the 1st year of hijra...

  • ...The hadith that states muslims should fast on the day ashura is as follows... Ibn 'Abbas reported : The Prophet (pbuh) came to Madinah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of 'Ashura. He asked "What is this?", They said "This is a righteous day, it is the day when Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemies, so Musa fasted on this day."...

  • ...Fasting is something that is done in celebration however this is a day of mourning and tragedy. Yazid fasted on this day and told his companions to fast in order to COVER UP the atrocious acts he committed against the family of the Prophet (pbuh), and to celebrate the death of Imam Hussain (as)...

  • Asalamu Alaykum.

Dear brother i would like to kindly disagree with what you are talking about in your video. Fasting on the day of Ashura is in no way mustahab, in reality it is the opposite. The 10th of Muharram is the day the beloved grandson of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) was martyred in Karbalaa along with his 72 companions and the women of Ahlulbayt were taken as captives by the army of Yazid ibn Mu'awiya....

  • @sabrinacoolest, This is the Hadith I was referring to:

    Narrated AbdullahIbnAbbas

When the Messenger of Allah (SAW) fasted on the day of ‘Ashura and told the people to fast, they said, “O Messenger of Allah, this is a day that is venerated by the Jews and Christians.” The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Next year, if Allah wills, we will fast on the ninth day.” But by the time the following year came, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) had passed away.Narrated by Muslim, 1916.

    Wassalam :D

  • jazaakAllaah Khair

  • When is this day? Today?

  • @AshasJourney It isn't today. This coming Monday insha Allah.

  • @Haad140 Oh Okay thankss :)

  • Shaykh, you didn't mention that one should fast 9th and 10th or 10th and 11th. Is that not so?

  • @Dust2Turaab if you fast for one day the you would fast the 10th which is highly recommed, if you would like to fast 2 days then you can do the 9th and 10th together if you want to fast 3 days then 9th 10th and 11th. however if you wanted to fast 2 days and forgot to do so on the 9th then can do 10th and 11th. 11th is an addictional day like a back up. the 10th has been most emphasised in the hadith and Allah knows best.
