The thing is no republican majority has seemed to recognize healthy economic, social or military development for at least 40 years now. The democrats as a whole (not all individuals) have their own issues (intellectual property being a big one) that are harmful to the economy. I did like the Clinton years the best so far, but they were not perfect. It may be that we are so dissonant as a country that we can not have a good government, as it tends to be as schizophrenic as we the people are.

What I meant was sort of that there is no point spending any energy on blaming Bush now that he is out of power; he made those mistakes, and I do not think they need acknowledgement. But, maybe they do, as long as it is turned into something the new administration can hold out as policies to avoid.
Their solution is "stimulus", letting the powerful (business) offer opportunities to the less-powerful to effect personal gain and self-improvement -- i.e. no bailouts.

One only need to examine the actual votes for these past two bills to know who's earmarks they were. The votes were near party line votes.
