@DowaShmiffy Actually it was a daft joke Stuart made about differences between Kelly Jone's girfriend and someone else (cant remember who exactly) that got him sacked after some sorta fight in Paris or something . This all according to wikipedia so I dunno the whole story but apparently that's what it was about.
disagree. think about it, liam and noel gallagher don't give a fuck about what people think about their music. it's not about keeping it fresh, it's about keeping it Oasis. They write what the want, and in their eyes, if you don't like it, you can fuck off!
As for your band man......I'd sack that Keyboard player if I were you. I've got to ask you.....why the hell are you into the Stereophonics with a band with a keyboard player - the last thing the world needs right now is another band playing keyboards - Turn those amps up and annoy them neighbours!!
I understand that Stuarts a drunken lunatic and a right madman, but thats what made the band what they were. Now its just boring old Richard Jones and Kelly Jones and that new guys - and compared with Stuart they'll just send you to sleep. Stuart thought they should concentrate on England and Europe and Wales where they were doing well and Kelly wanted to become
What I found interesting though in Stuart Cables biography is that he said he did'nt think it was worth them slogging around America trying to make it.
And Kelly thought it was, but he would'nt let him do any chat shows or anything......I think thats sad.
Don't be surprised if Kelly Jones quits in a few years to re asses things......I know that sounds forceful but I think its also the truth. Alot of people miss the old band.
I'm guessing that MrNelly87 was born in 87 and you maybe perhaps missed this version of the Phonics as it happened at the time? This for me was the best and they've never done anything near it since. They were the best band in the world in my eyes, just the three of them with Tony on keys. It shaped my mid-late teenage years. Unfortunately a couple of years later they changed and would never been the same band a lot of us loved so dearly ever again.
Yeah, I know what you mean, I was born in 1987 funnily enough and live in freaking New Zealand!! But I remember the Stereophonics back in 1999, they played "Hurry Up and Wait", "Just Looking", "The Bartender and the thief" quite alot on the radio, not sure about the others, perhaps they did.
Reading Stuart Cables book made me kind of sad, I wish they would all get back together someday and just get over it all.
Yes they were the days, but also very short lived too. I think theirs only one Sturat Cable book, but they have different covers!! Hahah
Its called Demons and Cocktails and it came out last year and its got him smoking a cigarette on the cover.
He really paints Kelly into his own corner haha it explains alot. I like Kelly Jones but when I see him going on about him like he is the rock star and its his band, well its easy to understand.
They need to bring back Stuart Cable, he was the character of the band, even if he was a bit of a nutcase - its not the same without Stuart..............its all about Kelly Jones now.......driving the band to bigger and better things - but they never seem to get there.
@MrNelly87 ....name another gig that tops this! the band even said themselves that was the best gig. kelly said "morfa was the peak of that version of the band, and we are not that type of a band now" it just so happens i like that version better. its all about opinion son!
They've done many a better gig than this...and what he means is they went on to bigger and better things, which they did...i agree its a quality version of my fave phonics song, but i certainly think they hit their peak through the L.S.V.O? album/tour
@MrNelly87 dont think l.s.v.o was their peak album. the only tune i took from that was dakota. they only play couple songs off that record at their gigs. they tend to play the older stuff more.
a combination of the first two records and gigs like cardiff castle, morfa built them up. and caused the hype over the jeep album, then its been a steady decline downward for the band. apart from songs like maybe tmra, dakota the band aint produced the quality of tunes(in my eyes! and many others) that they used to.
The album they shouldnt of made albeit Maybe Tomorrow was YGGTTCB, they bounced back with the L.S.V.O, theres some classics on there Superman, Devil etc, however i didnt mean there peak album i meant for there live shows, i think there latest album is there 3rd best to date
'Richard bought a book the other day called Taxi Driver Wisdom, theres a quote in that book that says, "Women choose to love who they love the most, Men choose who love them the most" this is a song which is kind of along those lines'
you must of bin standing close to wer i was then,,near the front on the left by big screen,,you had no choice,,just got carried off,,sure somebody copped a feel aswell lol

This is when Kelly wrote real though provoking lyrics.........
"Theres things I want, theres things I think I want, theres things I've had, theres things I wanna have
Do I want the dreams, the ones where forced to save
Do I want the perfect wife
But perfect ain't quite right
Shopping everyday
Take it back the next break
Sets it in contrast to "MAKING FEEL LIKE THE ONE, MAKING ME FEEL LIKE THE ONE!!"
