My grandmother and grandfather were inmates of Terezin for 2 years, before being deported to Auschwitz and murdered. We have documentation on all of this, since the Germans did such a good job of that. They were not rich.. they were employees of the Jewish community in Wiesbaden, Germany. They were elderly and my grandfather was a decorated WWI Veteran; this is why they were sent to Terezin. It was the waiting room to hell; that many suffered and died there ( my father's aunt was one) is known.
My grandfather was member of the SS. He came from Wiesbaden. He died 10 years ago and never talked about what he has done though I asked him. I felt so ashamed when I red your comment. I am sorry for grandmother and grandfather.
I support the Palestinians and I am against the way they sometimes have been treated. Jews who disappeared never to return, where do you think they went & why? How do you explain the poor sods being so thin & ill they could hardly stand when the British/American/Russian armies liberated them. I have been there too. Over 30,000 people died from starvation, diesase, and torture. There are numerous buildings, pictures, documents, and videos of people that would disagree that is was anything but pleasant.

Since the german cultural influence here always was and still is enormous some people just can't stand that. I mean if you look in the history we have so much in common. Traditional czech food is awfully similar to german food. I mean dumplings and roast pork with sauerkraut no other slavic nation eat such things. They say:" Since 1620 the germans have been pillaging our country" They even call it the age of darkness. WTF? It was a spring of culture and arts no damn darkness at all. So you see the anti-german attitude runs much deeper than the 20th century and nazism. It is a nonsence nevertheless.
It comes from a very normative interpretation of history that still somehow remains in our schools. It is changing stadily tho so I hope for better days when such sentiments will disappear for good.

Terezin was a luxury working camp with good working envirioment ,for very skilled jewish people as a painters,musicians,actors etc.
Terezin was check by red cross lots of times and did not find any problems with mistreating of inmates.
