  • Trier's Best!

  • Best performance by an actress since Falconetti as Joan of Arc.

  • You got it right!

  • chaos reigns.

  • this movie has fucked my mind up for two weeks now... just can't get over it... a truly truly genius masterpiece from LvT

  • Wow, Deep Purple

  • well disappointed, watchable though

  • @cexyboy12 Lol

  • @WorleyClarence I like your structured, well thought out constructive critisism, very profound. You got a problem with sentences containing more than one syllable?

  • second time watching this perfect movie. i wasn't able to breathe again from all this crying. i remembered again why this movie is on my top 5 movies of all time. and one of the 2 movies that made me cry the most. i love lars von trier....

  • Von Trier is a fucking genious! His film are a brand new kind of pictures...

  • Ian gilian!!!

  • I cried with this movie. Von Trier is just amazing....the idiots, medea, breaking the waves, dancer in the dark, dogville, dear wendy, antichrist are my favorite movies of all the time and I want so bad to see Melancholia

  • @cevastian I've only seen Antichrist, but saw Melancholia a few weeks back and it's going to floor you. What an ending.

  • @moeezS wow! thank you for telling me that. where did you see it?

  • @cevastian It's out here in European countries (Czech, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Poland). I'm in Prague (Czech Republic), saw it at my nearby art cinema. Was a great experience.

  • @moeezS

the ending was terrifying! I wanted to cover my eyes and ears, but somehow couldn't.

the most beautiful and frightening thing I've ever seen!

  • I enjoyed this film. Very poignant and moving. I felt so sorry for Bess. Although if you are the sort of movie-goer who prefers explosions, shooting and car chases to genuine warmth and meaning don't bother watching this.

  • how it's called background music?

  • @Robertul9 child in time, deep purple

  • @Robertul9 deep purple - child in time

  • the most amazing and most powerful film

  • watched this and was entrapped my its story , very good film. and by the way i liked terminator and transformers, just because one sees only the beauty in one type of film , does not mean we should not accept other types ... watch the film again guys , you didn't learn enough...

  • Robby Muller is a genius.

  • pls could some one tell me the nameof the songplayingin the background

  • @amadinc its "child in time" by deep purple

  • @dmorrisish thank u very much

  • my mom said she cried so hard at the end she had a headache:P but i am more of an sarcastic person so i would probablt laugh til i fainted:P probably. ive never cried because a movie is sad.

  • What version of "Child in Time" is playing in this trailer?

  • It was a great movie but I can only watch this movie ONCE! Because it's too painful to watch again.

  • does anybody know what this song is???? the riff has been in my head for a long time

  • @gunslinger861 it's the Japan version of child in time, deep puple

  • @kyradepinguin thank you i was kinda close i thought for a while it was rainbow

  • Saw the theatre version a few weeks ago. Surprisingly good. But in the theatre, there was the original version of "Child In Time" by Deep Purple :D

  • Please...Give The Oscar To Emily Watson....And I`m Not Asking !

  • Emily Watson Should Have Won An Academy Award For This ! The Best Movie Debut Ever !

  • love!

  • Whatever's I guess this is DITD revisited I don't think so!

    And I worship Emily Watson.

  • Great movie.

  • anyone know the name of the song?

  • The end was invasive to my mind. I couldnt hold my tears!

  • Geez.. no wonder it's european film : they can freely show you nudity even in trailer!

    It's very natural for them

  • uno dei film più irritanti della storia del cinema....

  • very very very poor

  • Terrible trailer.

  • Oh god this is the saddest movie I've ever seen. Wow it is so breath taking that I can't even discribe it. Just cried my eyes out, when I saw it..

  • I'm glad Helena Bonham Carter didn't accept the role she was offered in this :P Way too poor movie for her.

  • Yeah, Helena Bonham Carter can't act. The movie required someone who could actually carry a movie, not some cheap, mediocre "actress" like Carter.

  • @CodyC6969 HBC is one of the best actresses in the world, what I said is that the movie is not good and I'm happy she's not in it 'cause there's better ones where she can actually show her talent.

  • amazing movie)

  • the low things women do for love is unbelievable. Men are fucking bastards!!!!!

Anyways, Lars made me feel like I was her.......delusional, depressed, mad and low.

  • @ZunigaZorola Shut the fuck up, simpleton.

  • la+belle histoire d'amour

  • just watched it! it's a stunning masterpiece!!!! absolutely a masterpiece

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 OMG! Lars Von Trier!? (hvis du ser det her) du er satme en vidunderlig mand! Tak for dine film.. Jeg skal se antichrist idag ;) GLÆDER MIG! <3 Og, tuuuuuusind tak for Dancer in the dark! - Hilsen selma <3

  • I like a lot of Lars von Trier's films (Europa, Dogville, Antichrist) but I really hated Breaking the Waves. Before you ask why I'm even here, it's because I think it's a great trailer. But I don't know, I found the relentless abuse on the central character too much to bear in this case, and the end of the film really seemed to suggest that her suffering was okay. I'd love to hear an [intelligent] response to this problem because I do think he's a great filmmaker.

  • @TulseLuper I'm not sure i can give you an intelligent response, but i can say this:

Lars Von Trier takes a lot of his inspiration from an old danish director called Carl Th. Dreyer. Carl Th. Dreyer has often centered his films around the concept of "the suffering woman". This is very clear in his silent masterpiece "The Passion of Joan of Arc" from 1928.

Since i started watching Dreyer's films i have gotten a new understanding and appreciation of LVT's ability to portray weltschmerz.

  • This movie is fantastic.. Nothing more to say... Lars von Trier is an amazing director. The best in my opinion....

  • not seen yet..but the trailer is definitely stunning!!!!

  • this is the most sexist film i have ever seen (together with cashback)

  • then watch "antichrist"!

  • I remember feeling exhausted after watching this movie...really powerful stuff!

  • I LOVE this fucking movie.

  • Hell yeah I saw it when I was like 14 without understanding a minute of it. Now I watch it again at 22....holy shit so much went over my head.

  • I loved this movie. Emily Watson is a revelation.

  • Is that the deep purple version?

    it sounds different

  • Yep, live version.

  • Which live version out of interest? I love the sound of it.

  • I think it's from the album called "Made in Japan".

  • This is a great trailer. I like the song used in this, as well as the songs used in the film.

  • ive come to dance

  • O____O

    What a film!!!

  • I saw the film. It's unique :D

  • is it worth seeing,i read the story somewhere and was not very thrilled, but im a admirer of lars von trier's way of direction.

  • Reading the story and seeing how it's played out in a von Trier film are two completely different things. You should see this, especially if you liked Antichrist, or Dogville.

  • child in time by deep purple

  • is it original screenplay or based on a book or something?

  • Original.

  • whats the name of the song?

  • The name of the song in this movie is Child in Time and belongs to Deep Purple. Is a masterpiece.

  • Comment removed

  • @w19721 child in time

  • i love Stellan Skarsgård.

  • Saw the film. Really very powerful and disturbing. Very well done definitely worth seeing.

  • I just found out about this Lars von Trier character through an article by Roger Ebert concerning Antichrist. Now I'm looking at a video for another movie that stars Emily Watson?! Fuck! I LOVE

  • Emily Watson!

  • seansotheman: you may ant to watch 'Hilary and Jackie', she plays Hilary du Pre....and she is fantastic. Also 'Punch-Drunk Love' is quirky. Quite good.

  • does any one know where the shooting took place?

  • This is, I think, in the top 3 of the best movies I've ever seen.

  • And which would be the other two?

  • deep great film

  • Omnia vincit amor; et nos cedamus amori

    This movie is perfect!

  • RIP Katrin Cartlidge - one of the finest, purest souls to come out of England!

  • Loved Katrin Cartlidge in this as well. She was a good counterweight to Emily Watson's Bess. She was also great in Mike Leigh's Naked. So sad she's gone.

  • saw it last night...blown away by watson's performance

  • @uzzy2k5 stop the bankers.BANKSTERS.when you go for any type of loan,or mortage, you are a capital subscriber to it,not repayable money i found out,no doubt they will amend via wording lies.they then at side create fake money which you pay back, well they are a business, evil stuff heh.this then gets dumped in markets and the debts are sold as bonds, the end of the chain is capital subscrition again but they own the money now, paid out as mature bonds,,using tier 1,2,3 accounting,

  • @Apalmeic5 worst thing is its fraud, but governments won't help, guess who donates to them governments as working capital,$500,000 say per loan if thats what you need, governments keep the first $500,000,and make profit of $500,000 from it..edward 3 gave us free allodial land, shame the end of feudalism is back under the bankers again,we are slaves again, economic slaves.

  • this movie is pretty good but kinda boring too.

  • This is an amazing movie.

jelisatyler: If you find this movie boring, you should stick to watching the new Terminator and Transformers movies.

  • Comment removed

  • @jshimmy666 the terminator, and transformers are great movies

  • the myth of Mary Magdalene

  • Comment removed

  • where can i watch it for free online?

  • Hell rent it immediately! I bought it right after renting it. It's amazing to say the very least.

  • This performance by Emily Watson is incredible! Definitely on my top 3!

  • i still think that she deserved an Oscar for this performance.

  • me as well. i love Frances McDormand but...

in my mind this has gotta be one of the greatest film performances ever, and for me personally it's the greatest. it's definitely up there w/ DeNiro in Taxi Driver, Keitel in Bad Lieutenant, Keaton in Annie Hall, Gena Rowlands in A Woman Under The Influence. etc etc etc... Watson pulled it off. literally stunning.

and everyone else is terrific too. particularly Stellan Skaarsgard. he's always great.

    "Bess is good!"

  • Totally agree!

  • she really does as she had to have sex with my dad in the movie he was the "lighthouse keeper" in it, The stories he told me about when he was making it sssooo funny!!!

  • Very nice trailer, and fantastic movie!

  • I have seen the movie yet...Wondeful piece of art! But I would rate this trailer X :) LOL

  • There are 3 criteria for X: erection, penetration, ejaculation, and here are none of that.

  • What about 0:31?

  • IT is soft, THIS is fake, and THEM are dry.

  • nice music

  • hot.

  • deep purple - child in time :X:X

  • This is a brutal but good movie.

  • This is the best trailer I have ever seen.

  • This is yet another example of a trailer that ruins the movie before you've even seen it; it tells you EVERYTHING! Luckily I've already seen Breaking The Waves, so it wasn't spoiled, but it's annoying that so many film trailers these days just tell you the entire story.. By the end of the trailer you don't even need to see the bloody movie!

  • Yep, I dont like censorship, but they should BAN this trailer.

  • ... for spoiler :)

  • so many spoilers!

  • @rielalaj i disagree. there's so much more to a good film than the plot. the amazing script, genius camera work, emotional impact, etc. are not accessible through this trailer. it's still well worth it.

  • So was this the first movie Emily Watson starred in? I heard that this movie was really good.

  • Yes and YES!

  • This was her first movie- she acquired the role after Helena Bonham Carter pulled out since it was "too harrowing' and 'out of her depth'.

She should have won an oscar. Lars Von Trier's direction too- She is a classic in Hilary and Jackie also.

  • Oh man, Stellan Skarsgard nude having sex, IM WANTCHIN THIS MOVIE!!!

  • tremendously moving!!!!

  • where can I watch this online?

  • very sad and upsetting movie. made me ashamed to be a man!

  • Be proud to be a man.

  • oh man i love this song..

    and the movie is AMAZING.

    i love emily watson.

if you like her, watch Hilary and Jackie.

    its another great movie

  • bjork appears in 'dancer in the dark'..

  • A real masterpiece!

  • Wonderful movie.

  • This film cuts deeper than any other. The 90s was a great decade for movies but, aside from films like Schindler's List that have an implicit emotional impact because of the very nature of the subject matter, the simplicity and sheer force of this film make it pretty untouchable. Or maybe it's the operatic/naturalistic thing it's got going on. Or maybe the final scene. Or maybe the acting. Whatever. It also FEELS unlike any other film I've seen.

  • ahh you said everything i was thinking :]

and it also had an awesome soundtrack.

  • I`m crying I`m a man and Im craing mr Von Trier Respect, and Kieslowski for you as well

  • One of the best movies ever with bloody great Stellan.. Lars von Trier is Mr.Director!

  • Looks like very much like 'Dancer in the dark'!It was also a great movie by Lars Von Trier.

  • ahh bjork was amazing

  • where the hell did u see bjork here????

  • the guy at the top mentioned Dancer in the Dark. bjorks in that movie so i replied....

  • I love this film and I always cry when I watch it.And Emily Watson is amazing

  • Overrated? It is a masterpiece, like all Trier films.

  • it's way better than Leaving Las vegas come on. And probably equal to the Piano. the acting though in this film from Emily Watson pushes it to galaxy levels to me.

  • I get tears in the eyes just from watching this clip - has to be one of the BEST movies I've ever seen. Brilliant performances from everyone, especially Emily. Such a powerful story.

  • I really want to see this. Is this a do-not-watch-with-parent movie?

  • Definetly, yes! It's a good movie, but watch it alone.

  • yes definitely watch it alone. With some kleenex...for crying. It's devastating notj ust because of thes tory but mainly because of Emily Watson's powerful acting.

  • One of the best films ever made. It makes me cry every time I watch it...

  • I remember seeing this like 5 yrs ago on HBO about at about 3am drunk and the whole time I was just like "Really? Did that really just happen?! Did she really just do that?" Quite an eye-opener.

  • This film is sooo awesome!I'm crying every time I watch it.emily Watson is great, amazing!

  • Wow- sounds like I should watch this lol

  • I didn't just have tears in my eyes when I saw this movie, I realy cried out loud. Best movie ever made!!!

  • One of the best movies I ever saw.
