Holy God. This is one of my favorite songs of the high school/college transition, almost 20 years ago. I don't think I've heard it since then. Flashback! It is definitely on par with "Black Sun."
It's the great tragedy of Dead Can Dance that the wonderful material they played live during this period was either discarded or overworked and somehow diminished in the studio. What we get with these songs is a glimpse of what Aion (a fine album in its own right) and Into the Labyrinth (less so) could have been.
