@invaderpink I know! I mean all these years I thought Halloween didn't have an official mascot like Santa, Cupid, or the easter Bunny, but then after years and years I finnally watche Nightmare and I'm like Oh yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaa!
i think patrick stewart captures a lot of the humor and whimsy with his reading, so perfect as the narrator. he should have done the opening narrations.
@HistoryOfHoles The actual St.Nicolis wasn't fat. Coca Cola just mutated santa in the early 20's and created this jolly old fat man in a red suit who gave presents to children to put in their advertisements.
According to Tim, The Nightmare Before Christmas was inspired by a display window in the mall.
The employees were taking down the halloween decorations down and replacing them with holiday decor. So, the window was half halloween and halfway christmas. Thus, equaling NBC ten years later!
@Bobzeaux Well yea because jack is a long, pale, handsome gentleman as well as the non-malevolent ruler of all darkness and fear. He's not sick he's a freakin SKELETON! Skeleton's don't have organs or blood that can get infected!
this to who think this is sad, do not worry you know this isnt bad, after all its the first design, not the movie thats purely sublime though this is not so jolly and sweet, it sure is a wonderful treat.
I think the book (written and illustrated by Tim Burton) was published after the movie, but the original poem was around for 10 years before the movie's release.
I feel like a little kid again. :D Patrick Stewart is an awesome choice for a narrator. I loved every minute of it. And great idea about having only pictures. If it was a cartoon, it would've taken the focus off the words.
"jack is number 1# so your video that i made a comment on that said don't make or i will kick your ass to chian town so your are a mother fucker"
..Yeah, whatever. I'm not making fun of Jack Skellington, nothing you can't joke about should be taken seriously, and if you want to try to kick my ass to China Town, at least learn proper grammar and spelling first.
Doing the epilogue would have been cool (further tying in Patrick Stewart to the story), but this video was based on what artwork was available. Notice how Part 3 here has a lot of photos in it? While I embellished further on it to stand out as The Real World, it first came out as a result of there not being a whole lot of art for this particular part of the story. The film companion (where I got a LOT of the images) doesn't have a lot of Christmas Eve artwork. *lol*
Yah, and in the original poem Sally wasnt even in it, she was only a side character. He did artwork of her, but no story behind it. I have the special edition vhs where it shows u how they amde it and they showed his original artwork.
Yeah, there aren't enough Tim Burton doodle galleries on the DVDs for his movies, are there? A new Beetlejuice DVD is coming out this fall, and what did they add to make it "special edition"? Just a couple of episodes from the cartoon. Not even a lame reflection/looking-back featurette, director commentary or anything. Come on, we need more than THAT! >:P
(part2) With 4 or 5 skeleton children at hand playing strange little tunes in their xylophone band! And I asked old jack, do u remember the night, when the sky was so dark and the moon shone so bright. When a million small children pretending to sleep, didnt hav xmas at all so to speak? And would, if u could turn that mighty clock back to that long fateful night? Now, think carefully Jack. Would u do the whole thing all over again, knowing what u know now, knowing what u knew then?(part 3 above)
Isnt there a 4th part called closing? or was that only in the soundtrack?(its narrated by santa)
Anyway it goes:
And finally, evrything worked out just fine. Christmas was saved, though there wasnt much time. But after that night, things were never the same. Each holiday now knew the other ones name! And though that one xmas things got outof hand, Im still rather fond of that skeleton man. So many years later, I though id drop in, and there was old jack still looking quite thin. (part 2 above)
Thanks. I don't suppose you know anyone at Disney or Touchstone, do you? Someone gave me the idea of trying to get this broadcast during the holidays. *l*
Could you may tell me which program you used, I want to do something like that, too, but I'm not really into computers and stuff, so it would be a help if you would answer. Again, great work!
If you're not really into computers, I suggest you use onetruemedia dot calm. It seems to be the youtuber's choice of slideshow software, and it looks easy enough to use. The program I used is Final Cut Pro, which is not only the leading program in the world of professional film editing, but also costs a pretty penny. Onetruemedia won't give you the special effects like this vid (and I don't know if you can sync pics to the music like I did), but it should suit you fine. Good luck. :)
