I like how no one ever mentions *why* Pentax makes weather sealed cameras. For those wondering, it's due to them wanting to protect the sensors from dust and foreign matter. The "Waterproof" effect is just a side effect of that. They wanted their cameras to operate in all areas, even the middle of the desert if necessary.(Sand+Sensor=BAD)
Sure, I run my K5 under the tap and scrub it with a soft bristle toothbrush! I don't use any soap though! Also, be sure that all your doors and weather seal covers are closed and sealed properly before hand. Also be sure that the hotshoe cover is in securely!
@Webofscience Nowhere does it say the XXD series cameras are weather sealed(At least not officially). Know why? They're not. Just saying, don't trust the places that say it's weather sealed if it's not straight from the company. Although, the XXD series can withstand minimal sprinkles. So long as it stays away from the mounting area of the lens. Should you wish to shoot in the rain with a camera like that, use a plastic bag with a hole cut in it for the lens. Works pretty well for light rain.

No the Canon 60D is not as weather sealed as the Pentax K5. The Canon 1D & 1Ds series might be though! However, I haven't seen a full diagram of the Canon L series lenses to how well sealed they are. Therefore, I wouldn't suggest you attempt this test without speaking to Canon about the sealing on their bodies and lenses!
Hey Imsno0zin, the Pentax 6x7 was quite the beast! I've shot with the 645N and it was sweet! I just recently had the opportunity to shoot with the 645Digital. It's so amazing. The detail & dynamic range just blows me away!!!! It could very well be my next purchase!!!
Excellent stuff! I became a fan of Pentax through buying a used 67. The lenses are amazing, and the weather-sealed K-5 looks amazing as well.
I've also heard good things about the FA Limited series lenses. Shots from the 31mm seem to leap off the screen. If I ever make the switch to digital, it's Pentax all the way for me.
@donconco Glad to hear we have another convert! My friend bought an EOS 40D along with a fast lens despite my recommendations and facts shown. He just wanted a "Canon." For the same price he could have got a K-5 with 18-55mm WR kit.
@BoxxyFan You're nuts. I chose Pentax specifically for it's fast primes as I am a prime shooter. Plus Pentax has some incredible legacy glass still supported.
that makes me nauseous to watch... pouring water on a dslr. awesome. coincidentally, i'm jumping ship from a d300 to a k-5. hell yes. well, just as soon as i find some money.
As a Canon fan, I can say without a doubt that I will not be purchasing from them anymore. The quality and performance are exceptional. But, the price is absurd. Good luck canon in this economy. Pentax is a clear winner in the price to performance ratio, although the k-5 is a little overpriced in the U.S. market, but then again, the dollar is toast.
BoxxyFan,i imagine than you schould make fantastic photos i guess, can i see them ? I think,, obviously, you are a Photograph, so, where are your pics please, i need a lol.
Apertures below f/2 are pretty useless on CMOS sensors, that's simply why pentax is building apparently slower lenses while canon, sony and nikon keep up with their astounding marketing numbers.
Hey, what's your problem? Did anyone say that the NEX was a piece of shit? No, you were the first to trash talk. Maybe you feel the need to trash other brands to make you feel better about your purchase, I'm not sure. However, you need to do your homework before you start shooting your mouth off about things you know nothing about. You're making yourself look like an idiot!

@canadaisthenorth Pentax has shit lenses. For example, Sony has a 35/1.8 for $175 and Pentax is selling not only a slower but more expensive 35/2.4 for $219. Pentax even refers to f/2.4 as 'fast'. BAHAHAHAH. Wtf Pentax??

@BoxxyFan Ok I'll go along with your retarded Idea that aperture always = speed (when its actually the whole system itself sometimes the aperture). They make a f/1.4 lens so suck on it. And who the fuck cares about affordability when you have a lens that is built like a tank, doesn't have shit glass, and has superior optical quality.
