if you think about it, plots of stories are reused ALL the time. it's the filler things and backtracks and songs that are unique from others (most of the time). The unique bits are the things to look out for. These songs are the unique bits. :D

If you think reusing plots isn't common, look at the ENTIRE romantic comedy genre. same story, just different characters and settings. and soundtracks. haha.

I freakin love this movie! I used to get totally freaked out by it when I was like, five, but then as I got older I began to fall in love with the story and the music! Too bad these actors aren't more well-known. They were good.

I know this is a stupid question but when Ribaldi dies how does he come back as Rigoletto? Also since Rigoletto is an elf would that make him immortal or would he be mortal? Sorry for the questions it's just something i've been curious about.

It is called Rigoletto because that is the name of the Elf Prince, who it is hinted at, is Ribaldi's true identity.
