i did absolutely nothing..he was following me since he was younger...i think that you should try by callling his-her name and having a treat or something...he will understand that everytime you call him-her,he-she will earn something! give it a try! :)
i can take him outside off the leash as long as i have his complete attention, then i play the sit, saty, walk away game over and over and every time he comes he gets a treat, but sometimes something in his head just snaps and he doesn't care what he gets, he wants to run down the road. I'll keep on trying, i know this breed isn't one to be very good off the leash.

that's right...this behaviour is totally malamute!! :)
don't worry..you're doing the best you can..but these dogs are completely independent!
