@elibeth121 Well I don't agree with you on your answer to your own question. Believing in God shouldn't get you locked away. Showing signs of mental illness however should regardless of faith or any other attribute. Believing in God is freedom of speech IMO and needs to be protected even if I do not agree with it. We can debate what it true/false/wrong/right but suppressing people's opinions is a very very dangerous thing.

how do you rate a country as moral? crime and sexual behaviour? isnt america mostly christian? is america a moral country? does it have the greatest scienctists? the best art and culture? does religion make you a better person or your county better? let look at the statistics. Japan has one of the lowest rates of crime and teenage births and is also a non religious country. logically a religious country should therefore be moral yet we find the opposite is true.

@ZLi0n You are absolutely right, time and time again studies have shown a very compelling correlation between the most peaceful countries and non belief in god and the most hostile countries and it's belief in god. Japan is very much mostly a secular country and they are very peaceful as far as murder per capita goes, they have literally no gun crime either.

i'm not atheist but i respect atheists and i find nothing wrong with them one of my good friends was atheist before he moved away i do however disagree with many aspects int eh bible and believe it is mostly full of things that some guy wanted people to do not what god wrote and i dislike preachy people who are always preaching about god saying you will rot in hell even if you are the best person ever because you dont fully agree with me

I'm hoping you're not going to say you're a Christian, because that would make you either ignorant or dishonest. As a Christian, you should know it's your duty to "preach the Gospel to every creature" and to "make disciples of all nations", as instructed by the Bible.

As for "rotting in hell". There are only two options. Heaven or hell (or whatever you call the lack of heaven, as some people interpret it). The Bible states that the only way to enter heaven is through Jesus. It does not matter if you're the "best person ever". In fact, the vicarious redemption offered by the Bible specifically allows the WORST people in the world to be horrible human beings still get to enter heaven.

The Bible is the only resource you have to make any judgment about the character of God. If you're going to dispense with the Bible and grant yourself the authority to decide what God would or wouldn't do, be like, etc . . . then I don't see why you need a God at all.

It doesn't matter if some atheists are immoral. It doesn't matter if Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc are atheists (which I am not saying they are). The point is there is nothing in atheism that supports what they did. People will be evil no matter what belief systems they claim to hold. On the other hand, the Bible supports genocide, pillaging, slavery, and undue punishment. It supports the passing of responsiblity. It supports gulliblity instead of good works. You tell me which is more immoral.
