honestly in origial dish PL DONT USE , FENUGREEK, SOOMPU ( SOAP),METHI SEED,JEERA(CUMIN) AND TAMARIND and most importantly DO NOT FRY THE FISH IN OIL.only steam(POLLICHATHU) in banana leaf kept on a dry pan without OIL PLEASE..............
In the end they say tamarind is optional. Didn't see them use it and not sure where it would be added. I've almost memorized this recipe because of you, thanks.
oh! sorry about that! :p are you planning to try it? I tried the marinade on salmon a few days back, and it was good. never used coriander in fish marinade before so taht was interesting.
Heyyyy, since when did "karimeen" become the sole property of Malayalam speakers??!! PPLLLease get your head out of the sand and look around - we "English-understanders" are HERE to have karimeen on hand, and cook it, AND eat it too!!

I believe this method would dry up the fish...the fish shouldn't be cooked twice this is not the traditional way cooking karimeen,...

k saw the ingredients at the end...and still dont knwo what Saunf powder is. 'k will google it!
Also, it doesn't show what marinade is used on the fish - looks like chili powder. Is the tamarind added to the marinade then??

Saunf is SOONF - its powdered fennel seeds. Available everywhere.

some of the names of these spices are in Hindi...what is Dhaniya powder?? IS it coriander?? And what IS "SOAP" or "SOUP" powder????

Dhaniya powder = Coriander powder
Saunf powder = Fennel seed powder

the marinade is lemon juice, chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt

I saw him soak the tamarind in the beginning and then that was it. It was not added either in the marinade or the garnish.... ??!?
