The lonelygirl story needs Nikki & Gemma to help people out since many viewers don't appear to be very bright. People keep wanting the story to go in a darker more arcane direction & these new characters will hopefully help people to focus on subtle clues and tidbits that they are missing. The creators are some really smart guys and are probably going to have to scale back on ideas that go over the average person's head.
