It is true that the arabs (moros) were in spain for many years, from 711 until the late 15th century. Mostly the different cultures in spain (jewish, moors, "original iberos", gypsys etc) lived together without problem but the Reyes Catolico (catholic kings) wanted a "pure" state and threw the muslims out, opressed any non-cristians.
Point is that there has been alot of islam influence during hundreds of years since it was ruled by muslims but it wasn't an islamic country as such, since islam says that there should be no coecion in religion. No one was supposed to be forced into islam (like some islamic countries today where "religion" is obligatory and not optional).

And yes, they took OUR land and converted his inhabitants to their religion with the force of the SWORD and the few who remained christians were required to pay abusive taxes for being allowed!. Ottoman Turks conquered the area about 1300 yrs ago. It wasn't until 1492 that the last Muslim area in Iberia was taken back, the same year Columbus discovered the Americas.

There weren't any Ottoman Turks on Iberia ever.
At year 711 a civil war against Roderic (Don Rodrigo) and Agila II (son of the king Witiza) mades that Táriq Ibn Ziyad (a bereber) to help Agila. He found Roderic at battle of Guadalete and win. After that battle muslim control all the peninsula.
So there were berebers, omeyas, almohades and almoravides in Spain, but no Ottoman Turks, sorry. :)

It is true that the arabs (moros) were in spain for many years, from 711 until the late 15th century. Mostly the different cultures in spain (jewish, moors, "original iberos", gypsys etc) lived together without problem but the Reyes Catolico (catholic kings) wanted a "pure" state and threw the muslims out, opressed any non-cristians.

Point is that there has been alot of islam influence during hundreds of years since it was ruled by muslims but it wasn't an islamic country as such, since islam says that there should be no coecion in religion. No one was supposed to be forced into islam (like some islamic countries today where "religion" is obligatory and not optional).
Anyway, it would have been wonderful to be able to go back i time for a day to see what life was like back then ;)

In no country of the islamic world it is obligatory to be a religion. Its always been optional and no islamic government will force you. As far as christainity is concerned than some countries they do have a law that people living there should be chriatain. Example of spain is there. This was a country ruled by muslims for 800 years but now you can't see even one muslim there. The reason being when Christain came there they killed millions of Muslims. I love Spain but I feel sorry for muslims.

no, no, some parts of spain were muslims, other never were muslim as cataluña,asturias,cantabria,navarra..etc, in the year 1000 the majority of spain was reconquered but granada fall in 1492 because the muslim paid gold to the catholics as tribute

The Moorish architectural influence is indeed beautiful and as you saw in Morocco the Andalusian returnees contributed a lot to the Moroccan architecture, music and cuisine. Please don't call the Moros Arabs. They are overwhelmingly Berber (Amazigh) and many of them want to return North Africa to its pre-Islamic roots.
BTW in most Islamic countriesthe mullahs impose severe restrictions. Eg even in "liberal" Malaysia a woman is going to be whipped and imprisoned for drinking beer!

Yaiyasmin "lived without problems" .Not really. The Spanish had to pay tax for being non-Muslims, had to speak an alien language - Arabic- to get anything done, and the Moros were invaders, remember? It was only in Granada which is one-sixth the size of Andalusia that the Muslims stayed till the early 15th century. Elsewhere the Spaniards reclained their country 300 years before.

ummm... actually the "Spanish" as you call them did not exist until after the expulsion of Muslim rule in the Iberian peninsula.... and as regard to the Christian kings of the north... their ancestors where GERMAN VISIGOTHS... so you could argue that the Muslim rule liberated the local population from German occupation.... just to show you the myth of the "Spanish reconquesta"... Spain and Portugal are only as old as the expulsion of Muslim rule... they didn't exist before.

the indigenous Iberian population under the visigoths were majority pre-christian pagan, at the time of the Moorish liberation of Iberia from German occupation. Secondly the majority of population under the rule of the Christian kingdoms became Christian by force, while in Moorish controlled areas, there was a general gradual conversion to Islam over a few centuries, which points to a general falseness of the "conversion by the sword theory"... at least on the Muslim side that is.
