  • Your test is laden with problems! Completely unrealistic, not valid in any way.

  • This is a VERY True test! I have tested it my self on the road! The 9500ix also has the same fault!!!

  • Do they have this problem with their newer models?

  • Ahhhh i had to turn the volume down!

  • i thought the band lockout is save on a particular spot....

  • Thank goodness for non-corrpupted consumer advocate groups. Otherwise companies that overmarket / falsely market themselves would not get caught as much.

I hope this consumer advocate group does not start getting paid for thier reviews...

  • that RD sooks!!!!

  • To all the comments stating that this does not happen while driving - i wish this were true but it is not. In some Canadian provinces the police use K-band photo radar vans which move throughout the city. After locking out K-band false alarms (Grocery stores etc.) I noticed that my 9500i would lock out the photo van after it moved into the area too. True Lock is shit, and the only time the GPS function is useful is to physically mark speedtraps, not to lock out false signals.

  • Thanks your share

  • They probably work for the other brand of radar detector.

  • Actually GOL works for no manufacture they are the only true independent radar detector testing crew they do their testing for free and their results are free

  • Let's hope it's stays that way so consumers can get true results and not corporate paid shill bullshit. Plus their honest reviews and the fact they are not for profit forces the companies to live up to thier lip services and improve the products + these companies can't accuse them of anything.

  • Like Roy said. it uses GPS to remember the location of the false signal, being that you did not move the detector of course its going to kick back the false signal. move the detector and it will pick up the signal. its called "Owners Manual" read it. might help ya

  • Not true at all. Search around and you'll find plenty of demos where this happens while moving AND the false source as well as the police radar are locked out (and they're not right next to each other).

  • Is that a nixie tube display? Hardcore.

  • The reason it didnt alert is because you are not moving. YOu will never see this situation because a cop cannot sit inside a walgreens and run his radar.

  • LOL!

  • When you press truelock the GPS feature stays on registering all radar and locking them out until you leave the immediate area.

As you video shows that you did not leave the immediate area, the detector locked out the entire K band.

Try this same test after driving about a mile and you'll see a difference

  • Even suggesting that it would be possible to get a speed reading with your bench test is not fair to those who do not fully understand the technology

There is an interferance light on most new guns will not operate on or near the freq of a false signal, and if they will operate they will show error. For a gun to operate properly there must be no other signals in the shift range which escort has locked out.

This video is like a democrat propaganda commercial.Seems true, but negated by fact

  • Cool great, Now Whats the strength on the 2nd 3rd and 4 bogie. Whats that? You have no idea. One cop will slow you down the same as 2-3 cops will. You are wanking too hard dookie about features that do nothing for you.

You also might find it shocking that Al Gore manipulated data to support global warming. CO2 rises 800 YEARS following temp change. sun spot count matches temp increase with no manipulation of the timeline.

  • Another reason why this is a dumbass and useless test. The 9500i has GPS intelligence while it blocks out signals. The 9500i realizes that the radar threat is located in the exact same position, so there is no need to honor every frequency variance because the location of the threat is identical. Try moving the radar gun away! Dumbass test.

  • true, but it's suppose to lock out just that signal, now if there was a cop there with a higher K band signal, it's suppose to pick it up

  • There's nothing wrong with the TrueLock on an Escort 9500i. If anything, the Escort 9500i occasionally forgets to lock out a signal that was previously stored. This test is not a real-world test in the least bit. It would not surprise me if this was funded by Escort's main competitor.

  • the 9500i is an awesome detector. Escort fixed its range and ramp up audio and now is hanging in there with the V1 in Ka sensitivity. The truelock works you have to just use it correctly.

  • Oh more bias videos from owners of the Valentine One.

When do you guys get your next check from Mr Valentine?.

  • what about the ESCORT (PASSPORT 7500) ?,,

  • I was much happier with their 8500 X50, I sold it and got the 9500i.

Returned the 9500i after 2 weeks and got a V1.

  • I have two areas I travel frequently where both false alarms from door openers and cops operate. I have locked out both already and am going to survey in these areas to see what I find.

I'm not worried about the police in these two areas because if it wasn't for the false alarms these two areas would be marked as speed traps on my 9500i anyway.

  • With my Passport 5000 I was subject to a lot of false alarms in these two areas, now the false alarms are reduced by the Passport 9500i to the point where locking out the remaining false alarm or two is probably not anymore anoying than marking the locations.

I just got my 9500i today and took it for 250 mile joy ride and during there was a state trooper operating full time on radar on the interstate and I had him from so far away and around a bend that it was incredible.

  • wow this is interesting. very much something . i was suprised to find the frequencies are on the 24 mhz band.. thanks for the education...tony tyler

  • It's not 24Mhz it's 24Ghz.. To correct you.

  • No....actually it is 24 GHz.

Check out "K band" on Wikipedia

  • Don't use the TrueLock feature...I'd rather get a false alarm and slow down then getting a ticket for locking out a band.

  • Interesting vid, but that's about as far from a real-world example as you can get. You're not even moving and you've got the RD sitting right on top of a scanner -- two situations that wouldn't happen when you're out in your car. Doesn't the 9500i operate differently at different speeds? Sitting at 0mph hardly shows what the unit can do.

I have a 9500i and ALL the features work great for me!! I highly recommend it.

  • All escort is doing is putting a tolerance range about a midpoint frequency it is detecting. Perhaps the range of frequency is arguable, however, real devices emitting EMI will drift. If escort feels that in the future that the tolerance range is too high, I am willing to bet that this range is flashed onto an FPGA and will be tweaked through future software on a computer reflashing the data through the USB port. Just like all new technologies, evolutions take place and it will only get better.

  • it really isn't locking out the whole band... I think it is locking out the satellite coordinants... you are not moving.. the truelock is obvioulsy biased towards the Satellite data as the base for the true lock technology.. but yeah.. they really should balance this better.. it shold be sensitive to both .. the band and the sat.

I am trying to figure out which to get.. the sti, 9500i or V1... thanks.. this is helping me make a decision.

  • here search for this video:

Escort 9500i Locking Out Real Police Radar

same thing, but in the real world

  • Phillip... give the guy a break. he's asking questions... how did you learn?

to buff.... the idea of true lock is to lock out the false signals. But what the detector is doing is locking out the entire band.... ie, a gross example would be if you set your radio to not get one radio station, and then not get anything on FM at all. Yes, that's a gross exaggeration, but it'll convey what the problem is.

  • Iwant2bbuff: You're not a real radar enthusiast and thats why you don't understand bands or frequency.

  • Wow!! they have to fix this...

  • I'm not really understanding all these numbers and band stuff. Would you mind just showing us driving in your car with the true lock feature on in a certain area for speed traps or just any area with a cop near so we can actually see it doing this? I'm asking b/c I'm considering buying the 9500i but I've been hearing lots of bad things about the 9500i and most people have been telling me that it doesnt even have the range of the 8500x50 and that I'd be better off buying the 8500x50.

  • The other video I posted, Escort 9500i Locking Out Real Police Radar, shows this.

For 9500i radar performance results, check out the GOL tests on guysoflidar*com

  • NO WAY! Best radar detector out there! Numerous saves!
