  • i have to go to one of these got caught today doing 53mph in a 40mph zone :(

  • the camera caught me (tower bridge) where speed is 20mph , i was doing 28 ,they offered me a course, and no points! thanks god

  • I got caught doing 36 in a 30 as well! Doing the course tomorrow cost me 93 quid tho!

  • the propaganda machine working here. we are all subject to the tyranny. it's inevitable that all of us will be caught at some time, including the sanctimonious who think they are immune. roads are sign-cluttered, speed humps dangerous, police impotent or chasing criminal immigrants on freebies to romania. speed can be measured so it's easy. where are they when the idiots using their phones or texting whilst driving are about? keep under 30or70mph and you can drive as badly as you like.

  • with northunbria police the course can be done if over 33mph and up to 38mph im waiting for my date to do this course my speed was 37mph in a 30mph zone...... BEATS GETTING THE POINTS .......... £84 for the course and no fine :-)

  • i was going 31 in a 30. Takes the piss i got to go.

  • I was doing 39mph and I got offered the course

  • good vid,im going to mine at winfrith/dorset in 5 hours.

  • got one in 2 days, cant wait........

  • Hi, thanks for the video, iv just been caught speeding at 35mph in a 30 zone. I was wondering how long you had to wait for your speed awareness course in north wales? Im leaving north wales in 3 weeks and want to do it before I leave, do you reckon this will be possible?

  • I was doing 39 in a 30 and i got offered this course

  • I liked your attitude before you went in, then you came out brainwashed, unable to think that their braking distance statistics are out dated and inaccurate. The operative word is 'awareness'. people who drive fast have faster reactions and are more aware of what's going on around. Those driving slow and in a trance like state of stupor, wont react as quick and are more likely to have an accident because of the time it takes them to wake up and react to a strange situation.

  • @ILLUMINATEDSARCASM People who drive fast have faster reactions? This is just your opinion - people who drive within the limit are the ones paying attention to the posted thresholds.

  • i was going 38 in a 30, i have been offered the course, mines like 4 and a bit hours long. not looking forward too it ahaa

  • @123HotPineapple123 I was doing 39 in a 30 and also got offered it

  • Brain washed

  • the course lasts 6 hours not 3 hours

  • I'll ended up falling asleep. I can't stand sitting in the lectures..

  • its a second chance i guess. everyone deserves a second chance.

  • just to let you know i was jsut caught today driving 90mph in a 50mph limit and well..... i was offerd this course. i will say tho i was informed that going over 89mph is a instant ban in the uk with a £1000 fine and court date so to the speed freaks jsut stick at 88mph and its all gravey

  • :( am going to mine in 6 hours times. thanks for the vid, i knew it would be like a presentation style workshop. Heres to not speeding !!! Next time i wont be so lucky to have this course option !

  • "If you're doing 36 or more you're not offered the course"

Not so, Hugh. I was caught doing 36, and I'm going on one of these courses in the New Year. Just hope the weather isn't horrible, and I can actually get there.

  • im off to mine now... 6 hours

    brilliant...

  • Thanks for posting this video - just got caught myself doing 36 in a 30 zone and was offered the option of doing this course as opposed to the 3 points (also at the Flintshire centre, coincidentally). Interesting to learn that they only offer it when you're just over the limit (I must've been right on the border). Doesn't sound so bad from what you say, so I guess I'll probably take the course option too!

  • Sorry guys, but only careless & irresponsible drivers are dangerous on the roads. These statistics on being hit at at different speeds is quite silly really as being hit by a HGV at 35mph is far more dangerous by being hit by a Vespa at the same speed (Excuse the sarcasm but this is true).

  • got refused the chance to attend this course even after asking to be considered! yes i was speeding doing 40 in a 30 but thought was a 40 limit ,(honest) im sure i would have benefited more from doing the course than being endorsed

  • @jeb81947 ive been offered the course. i was doing 40 in a 30. im 16 and have only had my provisional for my moped for 3 months. its not right that some people get treated differently

  • im off to attend mine right now boo!!!!!!

  • Really useful - thank you for posting this video.

  • SAC courses aren't only offered to 30mph limit offerenders, and the threshold is 10% + 6mph. So 39mph in a 30, 50 in a 40mph (as in my case).

  • so the course lasts 3 hours??

  • Yes, about that

  • Interesting video clip - thanks for posting it. I've been offered one of these courses, also at the Greenfield Business Centre. One point though - I was apparently doing 37mph in a 30mph limit, but didn't automatically get the 3 points. Maybe because it wasn't a built-up area and there were no street lights - basically a country road outside Porthmadog!

  • Lol, I always go over the speed limit. Where I live you have to be going about twenty miles over just to get a ticket.

  • heya well i hav recently bin asked to attend one of these courses even tho i cant find any available .... but i think tht dis is a gr8 help 2 me seeing as i didnt know what to expect but now i think i do. do they ask you questions or jus re-teach the highway code along with the impact on other ppl 4 speeding or is der another part to it?

    GR8 VIDEO!

  • It wasn't bad really. I thought we'd be preached to about the error of our ways. It was more about going through stuff in the Highway Code which, actually, was a handy reminder after 20 years. No one was singled out, and it was worth it rather than getting the points.

  • Thanks lollygaggle - you been on one of these?

  • Sorry, only just seen your question.

Yes I have, many times, but not in the audience.

  • So a year on - does the course & the stuff they chucked at you still have an impact on your driving & associated speed?

  • Yup, I'm definitely more mindful.

  • Odd that there are no other comments?

Well done for posting this, it might make a few drivers take note. Speedchoice courses are only offered to those who offend in a 30 zone, and then only a few mph above what the system is set to record as an offence.

Wales has a very low offence threshold meaning it is virtually zero tolerance. Many other areas set their offence limit higher, say offences start at 36mph, and Speedchoice is offered from 36-39mph, depends on where you offend.
