Why Sihanouk was not killed in 1970? well Sukarno was not killed in 1965 for example. Since Lon Nol was a murdeous pro USA dictator, it´s almost sure CIA was backing this coup.

Yeah yeah shame on me!!! LOL Sihanouk was the one who called the people to join him and his Khmer rouges allies in the maquis to fight the republic government. His greed for power was such that he could not think straight. His alliances with the KR allowed them to win and butchered his people.

Under Sihanouk's reign, there was corruption as well plus he opened the doors to the communism w. his freindship with China & by allowing the vietcong to have base in cambodia, so you can see, I much prefer Lol Nol w. his future military dictatorship but at least we'll have capitalism and a certain properisty for cambodia and for sure, Lol Nol and his men will not butcher his people to gain power!!! For those who doub that Sihanouk hasn't any khmer blood on his hands, I highly recommand a book written by Sihanouk himself at the very early 80's where he stated clearly his alliances with the Khmer rouges and his hopes to regain power, on how he called Sirik Matak, Lol Nol, the traitors. His greed for power for so much made him to make a deal with the devils. The KR would never win the war if he didn't join them and called the people to join him in the maquisa to fight the republic army.

Here is the title of the book (in French): Chroniques de guerres et d'espoir. The book was published in 1980 so I guess it was written somewhere in 1979 or early 1980 because if my memory doesn't fail me, nowhere in the book Sihanouk mentionned the mass graves but yes he acknowledged there were killings (while as Head of state, he toured the country and some people came to cheer him and they were later killed). The world was certain of mass killing after 1980.

Military strenght is very very very important if we are to defend ourselves against invaders,our military strenght is a joke man,we haven't had any strong military strenght since the time of jayavarman,miltary strenght is vital to our sovereignty,its' vital to everything,we are at the mercy of foreigne invaders without military strenght,the viet knew it.One of Sihanouk weakness is his lack of military defense.

After Jayavaraman VII, Khmer Empire subsequently had military strenght But its own people who were not educated and the war has washed their brain not to be loyal to its country. Long-Vek is a very good example on Thai invasion into Cambodia.
