  • great vid! awesome song!

  • one of the best single release from NEW ORDER. The chart has told us.

  • no clue to lyrics but awesome song!

  • Maybe Ive forgotten the name and the address Of everyone Ive ever known Its nothing I regret Save it for another day Its the school exam and the kids have run away I would like a place I could call my own Have a conversation on the telephone Wake up every day that would be a start I would not complain of my wounded heart I was upset you see Almost all the time You used to be a stranger Now you are mine
  • I wouldnt even trust you Ive not got much to give Were dealing in the limits And we dont know who with You may think that Im out of hand That Im naive, Ill understand On this occasion, its not true Look at me, Im not you I would like a place I could call my own Have a conversation on the telephone Wake up every day that would be a start I would not complain of my wounded heart
  • I was a short fuse Burning all the time You were a complete stranger Now you are mine I would like a place I could call my own Have a conversation on the telephone Wake up every day that would be a start I would not complain about my wounded heart Just wait till tomorrow I guess thats what they all say Just before they fall apart

    PEACE ON EARTH

  • Barney is generally a pretty awful lyricist but this song is superbly written.

  • love this song!! not the same without Ian though, theres a little something in the music missing, in comparison to Joy Division of course, compared to other bands they stand tall.

  • I don't think it's missing anything, it's just less depressive and therefore it sounds quite different. IMO, when New Order are at their best, they are as good as Joy Division. The problem is that New Order's motivation fluctuates a lot and therefore the quality varies quite a bit.

  • wonderful!!!

  • this sound has always put me in a good mood. one of the best songs New Order ever wrote and one of the best songs, ever.

  • This song is great, reminds me of the 90's so much!!!

  • i love this sing untill now

  • I love so many New Order songs but this one has always been my favorite. Used to sing these lyrics to my boyfriend. :P "I was upset you see Almost all the time You used to be a stranger Now you are mine.... You may think that I'm out of hand That I'm naive, I'll understand On this occasion, it's not true Look at me, I'm not you.... I was a short fuse Burning all the time You were a complete stranger Now you are mine"
  • I used strangle this song to my girlfriend (now wife) many years ago. Alas, it has ruined it for her, but I still like it:->

  • I love this track, my favourite by them.

  • one word "nostalgia " being young is so short ...

  • mmm...15 yrs has been gone ...time too fast...

    viva 93'

  • Sensacionsl

  • Other than the same trance-like effect, who would ever guess that New Order is from Joy Division? They seem oddly happy.

  • I don't know about happy. As much as many of New Order's songs sound upbeat on the first time out, the more you listen the more the songs seem sad. I never really feel happy when I listen to New Order, but rather melancholic.

  • sorry hernenya i ment to click on good comment but i hit the wrong one' great song

  • I always have had this feeling described in its chorus, specially at this time:

"I would like a place I could call my own

Have a conversation on the telephone

Wake up every day that would be a start

I would not complain of my wounded heart"

It's talking about searching peacefully your own place in the world, isn't it? ;)

    Regards,

    H

  • nothing to say other than new order are fucking brilliant

  • Plenty of great guitar, just what New Order do best.

  • tan tan tan tanantan tan tan tan tanantantan :)

  • solo R O M A.

  • Oh this song, so many memories... this time... happy, young and carefree... I want to cry.

  • Amazing intro. I can't stop listening to this song. This is definitely one of those songs you just can't express in words. For some reason, I am reminded of my childhood and have a deepened nostalgia for the past.

Put simply, New Order's music brings out varying emotions plus you can dance to it :P.

  • this is far better than the other video with david hazzle-hoff. which ruin the whole thing.

  • LoL David HazzleHoff. He needs to take it easy on the booze and the Wendy's. That shit ain't right :P

  • this is the most perfect song

  • Growing up in the States in the '80's-and in the midwest at that-I had friends that turned me onto New Order. This song reminds me of listening to the cassettes on my Wlkman in bed at night. Now it gets me pumped at the gym as I work out with the big 4-0 leering at me;-)

  • rock on...40 is the new 30.

  • Another masterpiece

  • putz... simplesmente d+

  • I like this song a lot. Barney actually sings well!.... what a memories!

  • this was on radio 1 while i was working on a tower takes me back to my childhood wish i could go back.

  • I love this song....I also have a great quote on "regret" told to me by a friend..."When you get old, you don't regret the things you did, but the things you didn't do". Let us all have no regrets!

  • love the joy division guitar that comes through.

  • Wake up every day that would be a start

I would not complain of my wounded heart.

    Seriously this is very god.

  • Hard press to pick a favorite from Republic. This one is up there though...along with 1963. I liked that whole album. I don't know why people trash it.

  • Not their finest moment but much better than the dross about today...

  • PASUUUUUUUU BIEN NEW WAVE TA CHEVERE

  • I knew New Order through Bizarre Love Triangle, but this song got me really interested in them. Ever since I first listened to it I became a fan. Sure this is a pretty radio-friendly, easy listening song but it's just so beautiful. Barney sounds really great here.

And it's also great to see them when they didn't yet go out of shape. Only Steve managed to remain slim all this time :P

  • It shows that drumming is hard physically.

  • i literally grew up on this!!!

  • This is my favorite song....EVER! It was my "High School Jam!"

  • adoro questa canzone!

  • 1) This is one of a very few times where they actually mention the title of the song in the lyrics... the only others I can think of are Shellshock, Touched By The Hand Of God, Perfect Kiss and Shame/State of the Nation. There are probably others though.

    2) I used to joke that the guy at 2:13 was Isaac Asimov. It does look like hi.

  • God this songs brings back such great memories of growing up.

  • Brilliant song!!

All those who opose dont know jack

  • Love this song!

  • This is my happy song. I listen to it and it un-winds me I feel lighter mentally and physically. I love the sound of this song from the first note to the last. The driving base.I played at home while cleaning up. Next to every song I get hooked on I always come back to this one.

  • end ov a era

  • If anyone likes this song and video, I recommend 3 songs by OMD - 1. ¨Pandora´s Box¨ 2. ¨So in Love¨ 3. Ïf you Leave¨. All those songs are beautiful, nostalgic and the videos make you almost cry combined with the songs, specially Pandora´s Box.

  • I love, LOVE, L O V E this song!

    Thanks for posting! =D

  • Wonderful, marvellous, magnificient, glorious... If I could gather all adjectives to give to this song they still wouldn't be enough to express what I feel in my heart when I listen to it. New Order songs are part of my life.

  • classAgaz, of course

  • Actually this is from the 90's

  • yes u are so wright

  • listening to this song stirs emotions and brings back memories of the 80s. So many great groups and songs from that decade.

  • Melancolia Johanna H.

  • Ns brit sound.

  • This was my coming-out song. I still cry every time I hear it, especially the last verse.

  • Now that you mention it, yeah, it is very relevant....

  • stupid jerk

  • These songs are nostalgic about how time passes how friends come and go .the music is heart renching and also plays your stomach as it strums along. These songs are necessary !

  • I just can't tell what this song causes in me, it's an amazing feeling!

  • i would like a place a could call my home...

  • better days good times

  • Man! I don't just hear this song... I FEEL it in the core of my being. Whenever i'm feeling down or out of control, this song centers me.... That's the best we can hope for from music...

  • this song... christ.. I remember when my sister introduced me to New Order a few years ago. I didn't think of them for a while.. until, I found an old "technique" tape in my house. I fell inlove. This is the kind of music you really.. feel. Does anyone know what I mean or is this only me?

  • Do you know their song "True Faith"? The lyrics start with: "I feel so extraordinary". That's exactly how I feel whenever I listen to New Order.

  • You're not the only one that feels that way. Their songs are like many scenes of life just passing by in sequence.

  • omg thats my youth up there , my teenagaer songs

    i love this song .

    iam from egypt

  • i still have my cd single...love this song

  • Huh. And I thought "24" pioneered the use of all those simultaneous action windows. Is this song about a special agent saving Rome from a nuclear bomb? Bernard Sumner might pass as Jack Bauer...

  • this IS one of the best NO singles ever released, & still 1 of my favorite songs of theirs! it reminds me of a bus full of high school band kids singing along to it on my tape player on a bus trip :)

  • Esta cancion es muy emotiva te llega al corazon gracias new order

  • 'Just wait till tomorrow I guess thats what they all say Justbefore they fall apart!' great ending!

  • the best song ever!!!

  • No doubt one of the best single released by new order. 1993
