@ayunreche This particular machine stopped being manufactured about 20 years ago. It's a brother standard machine, probably a KH-930. They can be found sometimes on ebay for around $400.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? Make all of that effort just to make a QR code that says "fnord" ? SERIOUSLY? I mean you could have even used it for some slight publicity to your page or something, but really, "fnord"?
oh, I love this. I'm definitely going to try it, but I only have an old machine, and It's coming soon. I think I'll do this after I get used to using the machine!
Can I ask, how you managed the image so square looking, did you take into consideration the fact that a knitted stitch is 7 x 5 and not a square? I'm entering this into Design- a- Knit and trying to figure how you did it!
I love it - I did not know what a QR code is, and to have the latest barcode technology linked with my hobby machine knitting, which can be seen as "old fashioned" to some people, is Englightening, thank you :-)
I tried reading the code off the screen with my phone's code reader, but it failed. To make the code easier to read under less-than-optimum conditions, make a white zone all around it, about the same width as the three square-shaped "eyes" within the code...
By the way: Dare to do one with your phone number and wear it in public...? ;-)
This would be so much easier if you could just send the machine bitmap data over Bluetooth or USB, and have a motorized cart going back and forth doing the actual knitting.
Now that I've said that, I'm sure those already exist and what you're using in this video is an old(er) machine meant for small shops.
Kind of like a clothes printer.
I definately want one. A knitted Invaders shirt would be awesome.
Yep, a friend and I are working on a hardware interface. The machine is old (you can't get a new one like this anymore, actually) and meant to work with a floppy drive. We're working on a program to emulate the drive and put patterns on the machine that way. They make a "G-carriage" which automatically drives the carriage across the needlebed. To me that's not as fun, though! =]
Shut up you Mauser, She's a wonderful and beautiful woman. That you are more into Kipkay and the other guys is fine with me, but there is no need to be an idiot about it.
