During the shooting of the movie, Lloyd was under the impression that the film he was making was a drama, not a horror movie. He only realized the truth seven years later, when, aged 13, he was shown a heavily edited version of the film. He didn't see the uncut version of the film until he was 17 - eleven years after he'd made it.
I don't care about whatever Mel Gibson has done in his private life, he is a badass in the movies. Lethal weapon series, Mad Max 1 and 2, Payback and Edge Of Darkness are all stone cold classics.

The stunt coordinator talks about how some fight scenes need to be very brutal to convey emotion, if I remember correctly. He worked on this fight scene and mentioned it as an example. He supposedly did the car door bash himself in a fight once. I love how casually and calmly he told that story.

I love this scene, and am irritated that if I buy the box set (I'm English) I wouldn't be able to see it. Nevertheless, if you think about it, it's actually kinda funny. I don't mean that in a bad way either, it's an awesome scene, but in some ways it's so over the top and filled with what I call "insane vengeful anger" that it's kinda, well, cheesy. Not that it isn't great, it is, but it also makes great fodder for parodies of Mel Gibson's angry side.

The reason this scene is not on the Region 2 DVD is because the BBFC cut it out. I don't see why, it's not that violent. Most annoying BBFC cut has to be all the cuts they made to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Well, I meant the heart being ripped out of the chest, as well as other cuts. It's done so clumsily, it insults the audiences intelligence. And the uncut version could certainly get away with a 12 certificate; even the TV series and new movie of Indian Jones have 12 certificates. The whole thing is absurd.
That's because in American regions, that scene was never cut out, but in the UK, the BBFC (our equivelant of the MPAA) that bit was cut out for censorship, bastardizing the film totally. Also, the sound in this clip is a semi-tone higher compared to America. It's only deleted in the UK, not America or anywhere else.

I own the original Lethal Weapon 2 VHS... So I'm gonna check to see whether you're right or not. I could have swore this was on the theatrical release/original VHS release....
I finished reviewing the Lethal Weapon 2 movie on VHS and this scene was never cut to begin with. It was kept intact in the original VHS release and most original VHS releases are of the theatrical editions.
Now I'm skeptical about the DVD b/c this scene is DEFINITELY (I guarantee my balls) in the VHS edition. I can't say about the theatrical release because I didn't see LW2 in theatres but I can say that the VHS version is of the theatrical release because I own it.

I was gutted when seeing this deleted scene, as I hadn't set the Sky+ recorder for it. Luckily though, it was repeated on Film4, and I've saved it. This is by far, one of the two best death scenes in the entire film. The sooner the definitive UNCUT version gets released onto Blu-ray or DVD in the UK (with this and other deleted/shortened scenes), the better.
Old BBFC cuts start at 0:14 to around 0:38 or so.

I've seen Lethal Weapon 2 so many times, it being my favourite. I too live in the UK and I've never seen this scene ever. Wow, it's awesome scene.

Yeah, shit like 9 songs can have cumshots and hardcore sex, but ALL of steven seagal films, commando, and this lethal weapon 2 are all raped by the BBFC.

The reason this scene is not on the Region 2 DVD is because the BBFC cut it out. I don't see why, it's not that violent. Most annoying BBFC cut has to be all the cuts they made to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Well, I meant the heart being ripped out of the chest, as well as other cuts. It's done so clumsily, it insults the audiences intelligence. And the uncut version could certainly get away with a 12 certificate; even the TV series and new movie of Indian Jones have 12 certificates. The whole thing is absurd.

That's because in American regions, that scene was never cut out, but in the UK, the BBFC (our equivelant of the MPAA) that bit was cut out for censorship, bastardizing the film totally. Also, the sound in this clip is a semi-tone higher compared to America. It's only deleted in the UK, not America or anywhere else.

I was really pissed off when this scene was missing from what was ment to be the directors cut of Leathal Weapon 2!! It's been in the one they show on telly! They did the same with a fiew scenes in Commando, The virson I recorded or the telly when I was yonger had them in but when I got it on DVD they wernt there!! Damn it makes me mad!

The taller hitman (who gets his neck broken) is Sherman Howard who has starred in several television series, in addition he was Lt. Kiley in RICOCHET (1991), and in JAK AND DAXTER: THE PRECURSOR LEGACY he's the voice of the Red Sage.

I own the original Lethal Weapon 2 VHS... So I'm gonna check to see whether you're right or not. I could have swore this was on the theatrical release/original VHS release....

I finished reviewing the Lethal Weapon 2 movie on VHS and this scene was never cut to begin with. It was kept intact in the original VHS release and most original VHS releases are of the theatrical editions.
Conclusion: This is not a deleted scene.

Now I'm skeptical about the DVD b/c this scene is DEFINITELY (I guarantee my balls) in the VHS edition. I can't say about the theatrical release because I didn't see LW2 in theatres but I can say that the VHS version is of the theatrical release because I own it.

I was gutted when seeing this deleted scene, as I hadn't set the Sky+ recorder for it. Luckily though, it was repeated on Film4, and I've saved it. This is by far, one of the two best death scenes in the entire film. The sooner the definitive UNCUT version gets released onto Blu-ray or DVD in the UK (with this and other deleted/shortened scenes), the better.
