@cod4lifecuzz ha thanks man, yeah i was never able to really play open handed, so i kinda fake it, check out a new video of the song i have done more recently which is much much closer to the right way, still not how steve does it but its closer, steve is such a great drummer i will never be able to do what steve does on this song.

i play in cover bands and wedding bands so as long as i fake it decently it works, i just played it tonight as a matter of fact
