i disagree. they're on par with each other, but rusty is faster and a bit more technical. rusty can do better work wih bands too. i don't like rusty's tone that much though.

oh and i have listened to peace and it is a wonderful song, overall though i just prefer shawn's unorthodox approach to guitar playing and music in general. alternate picking?? I think not the fastest alternate picked speed it 18 with shawn lane. Willjay's article in Guitar World shows the fastest players. There is also a post on Michael Angelo's website in the general talk forum.

batio is much faster than shawn lane. shawn lane use hybrid picking combining alternate and legato but batio pick all the notes and play hyper fast .16.16/8

All i did was give my opinion favoring shawn lane's playing and technique over MAB's theres no right or wrong here and im not trying to argue some people love MAB some love shawn some love both it doesnt matter because you can pick up influences from both of them because they are both amazing guitarists and have very unique styles.

This guy bores the daylights out of me. Don't know if any of you are serious guitar players like him...but he looks like malmsteen on steroids. His technique is amazing, but if I want to hear music like this I will be another malmsteen album. I like original sounding...something that this guy hardly delivers, but people like Steve Vai do. Notice the difference in the fan base. He's good, but not the most original by any means. Just skilled technically.
