I try not to make comparisons between artists, whether they're musicians/singers/painters, etc., because I'm sure each person wants to be recognized for his/her own identity and contributions, but Janelle reminds me of a new-age Lauryn Hill, kind of like a more eclectic type. However, she also retains her distinctive sound, which is a good thing. She has a style that is very much her own.
