The first version Pilot that got bad rating from all those that seen it. The first one was a failed attempt and people were recasted thank god.

It's good they re-cast the characters...I mean I can't imagine anyone else as Josef Kostan but Jason Dohring, he's perfect for the part. Same with Beth, just like bicje said.

I think that the 'fake beth', as people are calling her, is suppost to be beths mother, and the child who was taken was beth.

I'm so glad they choose Sophia Myles to play Beth! The girl in this pilot is just wrong, she doesn't fit the profile for Beth. And she and Mick don't look right as a couple either. No chemistry at all between them.

Twilight was written AFTER this script which was a movie that CBS developed into a TV series.... Lots of Vamp shows/movies are out where the male lead Vamp doesn't feed on humans. I'd like to see somehow sell a lead male Vamp the DOES eat people and see how sexy women think he his then... Moonlight is better for getting re-worked. This pilot is seriously BAD considering the show that did come out!

-The main guy doesn't kill humans, but uses a blood bank

-The tag line has the phrase "When you can live forever"

-He falls in love with a human

-It's called Moonlight-like Twilight!

The pilot for this show was written BEFORE Twilight was published. Also the show aired long before the movie was filmed. Silly Twilight fans. You amuse me to no end.

Am I the only one who think that this actually looks a hell of a lot better? I like that Mick wasn't so, I dunno, glamorous in the version. And I think he actually has better chemistry with this girl. And it looks a lot more intense and gruesome. Josef was the only character I really liked in the series, but this guy looks awesome. The older mentor angle works a lot better for the show. Maybe if they went with this guy we would have seen more of the vampire community and less boring PI cases?

that actually looks really good. i thought sophia was a bit annoying at times and the old joseph might have been better although jason is totally georgeous, i think the other guy is a better choice, they needed some scarier looking vampires on the show, maybe then it would have survived and had a second season.

this was the original pilot of the show that never aired and it was before they made the desission to change the cas and cast sophia miles a s beth later on and then they went with the new pilot to start of the series i hope i helped to explain the qouestion.

Well this version was lame, thank God for Sophia and a bit of tweaking; better freezer, less CSI, Mick looked more vampy and a better little-Beth.

The Beth in this pilot dies nothing to compliment her leading man, Alex/Mick... She was just too blah...Glad that Sophia became Beth instead; Alex & Sophia's chemistry sizzeled

And as far as Josef being older...fine if Mick needed a tutor, but Mick learned from his sire, Coraline, and just the life of a vampire... I so preferred Mick have Jason be Josef, as he needed that friendship in this lonely world of vampirism...plus the 2 just fit as "brothers in blood"

this is with the original cast, so no Sophia, Jason or Shannyn. Everything was recast and rewritten.

I like the cast changes. I don't think Josef would have been as believable if they'd not amde him younger.
