His affect on the band was more in his songwriting and backing vocals than guitar playing.
Sure, this solo is harder and more complicated than anything CC did. But go listen to CC's solo for this song and tell me it doesn't fit better. One thing that new guitar players have to learn is to not change the original sound of the music, because we all grew hearing "Fallen Angel-Look What the cat-Something to believe-Every rose" woth the original guitar solo, and changing it all of them, i really hate that.

since his time at poison, he made 20 solo albums, two albums with greg howe, replaced paul gilbert in mr big for 4 albums, played in the band vertu with stanley clarke and lenny white, was lead singer and guitarist for forty-deuce, appeared in one of guthrie govan's songs and collaborated with artists like richie zito and takayoshi ohmura. he also appeared as a vocalist and guitarist in many tribute albums to iron maiden, ozzy, srv, etc... he has been very productive.
Hahah it's funny to see how people can even think that CC is in the same league as Richie. In the 80's CC was always #1 in the countdowns of Worst Guitar player. Richie is a true guitar player, just look at his guitar videos where he teaches insane stuff. The solo at the end of this song truly kicks ass including a little 3rd stone from the sun by Hendrix. That being said, CC is the right guitarist for Poison, his personality and sloppy guitar style are what made the band sound the way it does.

no it wasnt because he doesnt accept the look, he actally came to one of poisons rehearsals when they were looking for a guitarist (before they got big) but they chosed cc instead
Richie is the real deal i would rather hear him sing than bret anyday. C.C. is ok - a decent player but Richie is way above him. He's really complex, his phrasing and technique is alot more subtle and complex. C.C. just goes for it and it's sloppy, nasty, barely in tune but after all that - really fun. I do like to see C.C. with Poison
