Where's a good place to get a rebuild kit for a 61t? I'm getting ready to start my build and I want to start from scratch with a fresh engine, I'm pushing 196k miles now and still have good compression, but I figure might as well have everything covered. I'd like to get some forged rods and pistons, but haven't really been able to find them.
The 4G63 head will bolt up to the 61t, but the combustion chambers in the 63 are bigger, it drops the compression so much your better off running the 67 head, same chambers as the stock head but with larger intake and exhaust ports.
Thats incredible man really awesome! JUst wondering whats sort of turbo are you running, td05 big 16g or something entirely different from the mitsi bolt ons?
Its all tuning and running a stable fuel. I run E85 in my car and I've seen north of 30 psi with 20+ degree's of timing and hardly get any knock. The 4g61t's low compression also helps but its a stout little motor.
I have a 93'4g61dohcNA 5-speed 4door elantra that I take over 8k every morning running late for college. 350,000 miles on it, never rebuilt. For the last 3 months it's been burning coolant in two cylinders due to a blown head gasket, I can't kill it! The bearing and journals are the same width as the 4g63 but since the 4g61's (not yours) have less power they seem to last longer. I'm doing the 4g67 head swap for bigger valves have you ever thought about the 4g63 head swap for yours?
These motors are very tuff, I have been running this little 4g61t on 24+ psi for over 3 years now. I'm finally rebuilding it after an injector siezed and melted cylinder #1, nothing to do with motor strength. 32 psi + lack of fuel = melted piston, in any car doing a 4th gear pull.
The 4g67 head I have on my car is the best for the 4g61t, it keeps compression up and has the larger intake and exhaust ports.
Sumbody please explain to me how that was possible running 26psi on stock internals of a 1600... cause i own one and wana do the same thing that was amazing!!!
