This does seem out of proportion, but in my opinion you should be able to threaten the use of any force to stop a crime. That's what the police do after all... they don't just let you get away if the crime isn't considered 'bad' enough. Then the criminals have a choice - stop and hand themselves in, or flee or try to use force against you. In both the latter cases they need to be stopped.

Joe Horn need to be in jail for murder. YES those burglars were wrong but for him to take the law into his own hands is equally wrong. This seemed like a personal vendetta against what LOOKED LIKE 2 black men but turned out to b 2 Columbian men. He gave the dispatcher detailed descriptions of clothing and the men, he described the house in detail and gave direction. The dispatcher told him OVER 12 times to stay in his house. He even stated he didnt even really know his neighbors.
I lived in Pasadena, and what this call does NOT show or include was the fact that BOTH robbers were ARMED (one with a crowbar, the other with a lawnmower blade he had fashioned into a machete) and were CHARGING Horn. One was found ON HORNS PROPERTY...the other, after he was shot, ran a few steps and collapsed in the street.
Mr Horn removed two menaces to society from the street..saving us huge amounts of tax dollars. He was, and remains, a hero.

Joe's decision to go outside might not have been the decision a lot of people would have made, but it was in no way an illegal move on Joe's part. Once he was out there and he felt threatened, he had the right to shoot. Don't forget, he is a man in his 60's and out of shape and just a few feet away are two young men that he knows to be criminals and that have a crowbar. They jumped, scared him and he shot. There was nothing illegal that Joe did.
i live in PA and it is as gun friendly state as TX. The only thing TX has that we don't at the current is a castle doctrine which we are currently trying to work on at the moment. I think if more people were like Joe Horn, there would be less crime because crooks may think twice. You dont have to have a license to own a gun in TX, just for consealed carry. Joe Horn need to be in jail for murder. YES those burglars were wrong but for him to take the law into his own hands is equally wrong. This seemed like a personal vendetta against what LOOKED LIKE 2 black men but turned out to b 2 Columbian men. He gave the dispatcher detailed descriptions of clothing and the men, he described the house in detail and gave direction. The dispatcher told him OVER 12 times to stay in his house. He even stated he didnt even really know his neighbors.

I lived in Pasadena, and what this call does NOT show or include was the fact that BOTH robbers were ARMED (one with a crowbar, the other with a lawnmower blade he had fashioned into a machete) and were CHARGING Horn. One was found ON HORNS PROPERTY...the other, after he was shot, ran a few steps and collapsed in the street.
Mr Horn removed two menaces to society from the street..saving us huge amounts of tax dollars. He was, and remains, a hero.

Joe's decision to go outside might not have been the decision a lot of people would have made, but it was in no way an illegal move on Joe's part. Once he was out there and he felt threatened, he had the right to shoot. Don't forget, he is a man in his 60's and out of shape and just a few feet away are two young men that he knows to be criminals and that have a crowbar. They jumped, scared him and he shot. There was nothing illegal that Joe did.

i live in PA and it is as gun friendly state as TX. The only thing TX has that we don't at the current is a castle doctrine which we are currently trying to work on at the moment. I think if more people were like Joe Horn, there would be less crime because crooks may think twice. Bottom line to you thieves and crooks, don't go stealing from hardworking gun friendly state residences and expect to get away with it. People are getting tired of having there hard earned property stolen.

so by texas law, whether there is proof you are armed or had malicious intent at all, it is totally and absolutely legal for someone with a license to carry a gun to blow you full of holes just for physically being on the property? there doesn't have to be any breaking or entering, or any confrontation? if that's true, that's pretty scary for people who want to kill with impunity and get away with it.

@ishredu in Texas if u see someone taking stuff from a third parties property it is perfectly within your rights to use lethal force to stop them and defend the third parties property. He did nothing wrong he told them to stop and they leaped at him one of the guys that he shot was practicly in his yard. If he chased them why were they closer when he shot them than when they were stealing. Also hot pursuit is legal in TX since u can be in fear of retreat for another attack.

You dont have to have a license to own a gun in TX, just for consealed carry. You do not have to have proff that somone is armed (you dont have to be armed to commit a crime), as long as they pose a threat to you, the members of your household or your property you can legaly shoot them dead. yes killing 2 humans over a few valuables is rather harsh when he could have stayed in the house and given the police the time to get there. listening the audio it wasnt too long after he shot that the cops told him to get on the ground. so they probably would have got them either loading or running on foot. but he acted on impulse shot the guys and its over. robers knew what they were signed up for, and they gambled with their lives. and they lost.

It wasnt wrong. These were worthless pieces of shit robbing a house. He saw them and he called 911, and he said get officers out here, cuz im not letting them get away. he told the cops he would do it so get some cops out here before he had to do it. the cops got there too late. the robbers were on his property so he shot them. worthless jerks shouldnt have been robbing. get a job an earn your own stuff, dont steal other peoples stuff and you wont get shot. problem solved.
