  • Just beautiful......Scott has one of the best male voices I've ever heard.

  • This song always forms a picture in my head--a rainy night, a hot coffee, and a person, who is thinking about his past romances...

  • Oh I've got the same feelings! I don't know what it is about this song but I tear up and could cry like a baby eveyrtime I hear it! I can't get it out of my head. Jermaine and Richie SOOOO nailed this on idol and should be soo very proud!!!!

  • Yes, I heard this the other night on Idol, too. When I hear it, it takes me back to when I was young, and I feel like crying. I must be thinking about my parents, because everything is so much different today than many many years ago. I'm glad they sang it; they did a good job. I've been playing this song over and over since then.

  • cool hair

  • LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH

  • Scott Walker has one of the best voices I've ever heard.

  • Jermaine Jones & Richie Law duet has brought me here

  • Whatever happened to the drummer?

  • Idol is better this year! Young folks should take note of how a song SHOULD be composed and performed. Classic tunes can be performed by any generation and made to sound awesome!

  • When the cowboy and the black guy were paired up on Idol (I actually thought it was the Righteous brothers as did RANDY hehe) I thought nah it wont work but they were A M A Z I N G on this song!!!! Great entertainment. I'm such a talent show ADDICT... Is it me or is Idol much much better this year?...LOVE IT :))

  • One of myall time favorites- sung by the Walker Brothers - too bad the Walker Brothers or Jerry Butler didn't get any credit on American Idol - Randy made a mistake...

  • The duo on American Idol of this song was Fantastic

  • Last night on idol I heard the most beautiful rendition of this georgous song by the Walker Brothers. Will now play it on the piano. Love this song!

  • i agree those 2 guys on idol made this there song ..

  • @shelta1116 Absolutely until Randy called it as the Righteous Brothers (idiot)

  • I too saw this on Idol tonight and those guys really sang it so well - especially Jermaine Jones. I'm hoping already he wins the whole thing. This was a special song for my husband and I (he passed away a year ago Valentine's day), so it had me in tears. Whatever happened to the Walker Bros?????

  • @dancingbutrfli So sorry to hear about your husband. God bless!

  • I like these guys better than Jerry Butler and me too, just heard it on American Idol and LOVED it, Love Cowboy and the Black Guy. They are great !!!

  • Same here- just heard it on American Idol and had to hear it again. I think the black guy singing it just knock it out of the park ! He made me get goose bumps! timeless song.

  • Scott's voice is just...butter.

  • just heard this on American Idol and i loved it !

  • my mom used to sing this around the house all the time

  • I associate this song with my sister-in-law, upon whom I had a silly crush. The sort of song we used to play over and over. For decades I thought it was done by a black group, they were so soulful. I want this played at my wake. Can any song since 1972 (American Pie) compare with this? hank you, Walker Brothers/

  • I've always wondered Why They Weren't Bigger!!!

    Their Music Unbelieveable, Beautiful......

  • I would love whoever forever who uploads "Marie" by Walker Brothers.

  • The Walkers were Americans.

  • @annikastarr Yes! L.A. California; Scott Engel, Gary Leads, and John Maus.

  • thought this gorup was just as very good as the Righetous Bros.....they were the British version.

  • beautiful

  • For Scott Walker's age (or any age for that matter) his voice was unwordly back then wow

  • The great Scott Walker. What an amazing voice.

  • Who thats is magnificient voices?

    Beautiful song and singers.

  • I will be doing this in karaoke soon.. It's a real swooner

  • this is my absolute favorite version of this song. thank you for the memories.......

  • Brilliant song brilliantly sung .

  • Jane, I agree Scott's version is better then the iceman Jerry Butler's if you want to hear a great female version try the Three Degree's live in Soul Train video such class when they sang back then; Beyonce and her ilk have no idea...

  • been with a guy for 7 years and definitely a break up song for me!

  • @Fifiroslan2110 Well you have company. That's what made me come here, & this song is true to form.

  • Top notch,

  • A real classic, I like the Sun ain't gonna shine also.

  • the brothers are just so dam good

  • Wonderful song brilliantly sung . Reminds me of my youth . Thanks lads !

  • well said chris 185821, and if he ever lets one of his retards try to sing scott walker or rodger hodgson or jeff lynne, ill f****n swing for the twot!!

  • As I listen to this "Beautiful" Sad love song, I wonder why it wasn't

realy big here in the States.

Do I hear a "Spector" sound? If not, good copying.

  • Todays songwriters don't seem to be as good those of the past either

  • please name me anyone , i mean anyone , on britains got talent , the x factor , american idol , americas got talent ,,,,,, who can compare ,,,,, no thought so ,,, no one ,,, fuck simon cowelll , have you not got enough money ,,, stop exploiting people to earn you more , just fuck off , britains x factor is shit , just please go away ,,,, and ley real talent provail , like before you were around ,,,

  • beautiful harmony. John and Scott's voices blended perfectly. And listen to John's voice control holding the final note of the song. Goosebumps on my skin.

  • This song has been the only "living" companion for a couple of days , once upon a time . Some bottles of dry gin too >< Not only helped me accept rejection , but after those two days i started feelin kinda seasick when listenin to it ! Cheers to the Walker Brothers !

  • the brits seem to appreciate and respect soul ska blues jazz reggae that is why they are so damn good in music.

  • Huge fan of the Boys.. thank you for posting guidofski! If this ain't a tummy bumping song then I've never heard one!

    Ty-Grrr

  • You Know?..I never knew anyone else sang this but Jerry Butler. I'm very impressed. I was probably hearing them for a long time not knowing that these blue-eyed soulful dudes were actually rockin' everybody's world. You can't go wrong with Jerry or the Walker Brothers versions. Two incredible and "SOULFUL" acts......Class Acts!!!

  • @ashmarii1 Nicely said my friend.

  • I love the way he sings this song , he and jerry bulter do it the best that is it!!!!!!!1

  • @jane78ist I l adore your enthusiasm!!!!!!!1

  • always one of my favorites may he rest in peace time does fly by

  • ウォーカー・ブラザーズの数ある名曲の中でも、これが一番好きです。バート・バカラック自身のセルフカバーや、ディオンヌ・ワーウィックのバージョンよりもね。

  • these guys weren't so popular in the US as I remember... don't know why... a lot of talent here. soulful, excellent song, great voices and arrangement

  • The Walker Brothers and Jerry Butler owned this song. Everyone else came in a long distance second.

  • These boys were the best. I was a teen in the 60s and these guys were so good. They take me back to a very special time and so many memories come flooding back when I listen to this song. Thank you so much for posting it. Simply Wonderful!

  • fog I am a big fan of JButler from Detroit and the Isleys from cinncy but damn these guy at this age (18) much the best for this Bachrach and David classic..

  • Jerry Butler and maybe Ron Isley are the only other ones who come close to these guys on this song. My opinion of course.

  • yeah incredible

  • Awesome tune! - magnificent vocals!

  • Tungs So right,: Scott was 17 or 18 years old when he was doing this and also to respect the jerry butler version JB was 25 years old when he sang this, damn if Scott kept going imagine what his voice would have been solo although some lose it as they get older doubt he would have and RIP John and thanks for carrying on!

  • I'm surprised Scott Walker never went on to be a huge solo star with his sensational voice instead of just fading out of the limelight

  • @TungstenKid thank you Scott Walker should have been at the very TOP, such a strong voice.

  • I have to admit that this is definitely not a weakening or watering down of the Jerry Butler version. I would say that he was a little more free with rythm and how he rode the beat. He had way more thunder in his voice. They had harmony that he didn't. Both had great female voice accompaniment. These guys had a bit more percussion. I believe I could grow to love this version as much as the JB version. This is one of the rare occasions when the cover is as good as the original.

  • I am a big fan of Jerry Butler but I have to admit this version of the Bachrach classic is better then the Ice Man's RIP John and as Scott went into seclusion thank you for carrying on the Walker brothers music.

  • This song is so sad...yet so loving...letting go is so hard to do.

  • sad to hear of john's passing. the brothers sang some of the best love ballads, like the righteous brothers. they had "soul." miss their music. thank god for You Tube!

  • absoluteley awesome.

  • This is my favorite song of all time. (So far : )

  • Respect John.

  • Can only agree, so sad. R.I.P. John..xxx

  • classic tune-thank you :-)

  • I was a teenager in the 60's. Great music. Happy times. It was another world and not just because I was young. This country has changed so much for the worse.

  • @torrents4u2c I agree 100% with you.The sixties were the best.Wish I could go back and have a do over. Our country is in really big trouble, but most people don't know it. We now have only the rich and the poor..no more Middle class thanks to the crooks the run Wall Street and their allies in government. We will have a revolution sometime in the future because our govt. is so corrupt.

  • hi all i just wanted to let you know that the leader of this group died of cancer on the 7th . i read , i hope he is in a place where he is satisfied with .

  • These guys were great. John Walker should look up Bobby Hatfield and get some classy harmonizing going.

  • Somehow, I think we all knew John Walker would outlive Osama Bin Laden. You could feel it, even in the 60s.

  • RIP :-(((((

  • its always hard when you hear of a (fragile) person,as we all are, pass on,and you enjoyed their music, in j m,s case, a lot of tears crossed my face when i listen to this song through the early years as a usmc, yah!! we cry to!!!.. we all have lost someone down the line, aka, life, but with folks like him and others, the music keeps them and, hmm,us alive, jm, enjoy the stars, you are 1. orrahh!!

  • @jagdpanther1944 Great voices are loved all over . . . even on my side of the pond! The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine is one of the best songs ever recorded . . . what a voice!

  • @jagdpanther1944 I'm an American, and I'd be the first to admit we have crap for taste.

  • @jagdpanther1944 I have to admit, we never have known a good thing when we had it!

  • @VABkWrm

  • Can we go back to the music of the 60's. Maybe people would be a little kinder.

  • sheesh. i listen to everything from doo wop to 8 bit, and ive only heard this song in rap samples. this is an amazing piece of music.

  • Scott, I'll give you just another twenty years to come run off with me and then I'll just have to find another great love. NOT. Even middle aged ladies still have mad crushes after all these years. Guida, thanks for the memories and your hard work!

  • I believe Gary (Leeds) Walker played the drums on an early hit by the Standells "Dirty Water"

  • I saw The Walker Bros. live in Isle of Man 1966 on first holiday without parents with my best friend, both from Glasgow. We were only 17 yrs and had a ball. They were brilliant and so handsome. It was an amazing experience of our first concert.

  • @sixtieswarbler awwww I was only 13 in 66 but I was blown away by the Walker Bros here in America.

  • @sixtieswarbler can you please give us details of your surroundings of that time in history ? whatever your memories come up with ? how was the day ? people ? sunny ? how people around you smelled and dressed ? how they looked ? their hair styles ? anything that we can picture in our minds to the point to us being there when you were , an excercise to create a receation process for the reality of time . close your eyes and go back to when you parking car etc ?

  • @EXPOSER2BE the 60s were great times, get a job anytime anywhere, great music.shopping for mod gear on saturdays, driving minis, hanging out on sunny week ends ,i think we had loads more energy than youngsters of today, all they seem to want to do is lie in their beds.when i see the youth of today in a lot of ways some things seem very much the same, girls wore minis/hot pants/tanktops etc they looked more feminine, the only thing thats changed in my eyes is the date.

  • Listen to this in the context of Buchara

ch's marriage to Angie Dickenson....classic love story!!!

  • Listen to this in the context of Bucharach's marriage to Angie Dickenson....

  • The Three Degrees from Philly much better the Dionnes what class Beyonce and her ilk should take lesson

  • I love how all versions (that I love) by Jerry Butler, Dionne Warwick, and the Walker Bros. do justice to this terrific song! Shows what a well written song this is. Thank you Bacharach & David!

  • Scott Engel was one of David Bowie's (jones) idols back in the day. Great version and a band that deserved better but they were cocky, at one point advertising themselves as the "most handsome band on earth" and they may have been right.

  • Not bad! But I still like the Jerry Buttler version better.

  • Great song to dance to the girl's got WOZY .

  • this guy from UK the new scott walker? - search 'woven orbit'

  • hmm do i like this version or jerry butlers version better? hmmm BOTH

  • French version by Claude François.

  • THESE GUYS WERE COMPARED TO THE RIGHTOUS BROTHERS,AMERICANS MAKING MUSIC IN ENGLAND

  • Jerry Butler's is best!!

  • heartbreaking...

  • amazing voice a pure classic song

  • I was 17 and in love for the first time. I used to meet my girl in a park midway between where I was serving an apprenticeship and she was in the adjoining college. We had cross words one day and for the next three days she didnt turn up. I was heartbroken and all through the weekend. Then in desperation on the Monday I went as usual to the park and there she was. I stopped at the park entrance out of sight and watched her looking around for me. I knew then this was going to be my wife.

  • @labyonnette Are you still married to her?

  • @labyonnette yes 41 years and a as much in love

  • @labyonnette

This is a great story and thanks for sharing it with the rest of us that are old enough to know what it's like to love some one they way you love your wife.

  • @labyonnette That's a great story. It's these kind of things that make life worth living.

  • @labyonnette - That was a lovely story, how many years is it now?
