what on earth! did that women just put a finch nest in a budgie cage?! FOR WHAT REASON
and then a happy hut....clever idea. fibers of them are easily digested and cause impaction and hens are prone to nest in them and as it's a very unsuitable envoirmoment that's a very bad thing!
@CheatCodeCodey No, they wont. It will be sad though if you get a single one and dont play with it enough. If you get a pair, they will bond with eachother, but if you get a singe it will bond with you.
@CheatCodeCodey lol no they wnt... just bring him or her sme toys nd play with him nd give himso fruit nd he will be sooo hppy... so no they wnt lol who tld u that?
My budgies cage looks that small but my bird is fine, i give him alot of space and i have cats so i hang his cage up high on a strong hook attached to the wall. He loves to dance with this toy that hangs down from the roof and he sings. Beautiful chirps :)
you dont need a nest box if you only have one budgie. plus, you sound drunk. you also need more different sized perches. never knew that budgies stay still when there happy! i watch my budgies hop around and play in its cage.
These videos are terrible. That cage is too small, and the nest is completely unnecessary; it is for finches. Toys are important, but a large cage is more vital. The budgie needs to be able to fly around in its cage or else it can become overweight and prone to fatty tumors.
that cage is way to small my budgie is in a flight cage big enough for 5 budgies, look them up on ebay and they are cheap to i got mine for $50 new zealand dollars thats about $38 american
guys u dont have to be so crappy, this video is really good, she only overcrowded the cage because shes trying to give u options on what kind of toys u want.you dont have to hate on the video u idiots!
I would like to know your credentials for putting forth this information. You are obviously misguided by pet store disgust. THIS IS NUTS!!!! the cage is so small a rat couldn't even live in there comfortably! A nest for a budgie? Thats crazy! Nests are for softbills not HOOK BILLS!! They will eat that up in no time--unless you are encouraging breeding! ADOPT ADOPT!
More crap from "Idiot Village." Never have only one budgie, unless it will be a tame pet, which is allowed out of its cage and interacts with humans. The finch nest is a waste and will be chewed up. Toys should be rotated and not stuffed intop the cage, leaving no room for the bird. I saw no information about buying a keet or caring for one. It was about buying lots of crap from the pet store.
omg you idiot this is the worst video ever that cage is a hell cage it's too congested the budgie only needs 1 toy and it does not need anything to sleep on it does not need all those toys because with all those toys it will never become tame...... and you NEVER! give a budgie a mirror! mirrors just makes the budgie think there is a nother budgie and it will hurt it self eventualy trying to get at the mirror......
the way i buy toys for my parakeets is to figure out if they r mind thinking or playful. i suggest a play gym for playful ones and litlle plastic toys for the mind thinking. also i like to buy my parakeets colorful toys
She is no where compared to the other expert villiage lady. She said a couple words most of which werent helpful. They dont really need anest alotho sometimes they like to go inside it and sit for a bit then they usually murder it.XDXDAnd that cage is way to small.Thats why i hate goin to the pet stores because i see like 5 keet in a either extremly tall cage and there all at the top or i see really small cages. And they NEVER have toys in them. And all thoses starter kits r WAY to small for 1keeet
Budgies DON'T need a nest! They certainly don't need the finch nest she is putting in there. They might enjoy tearing it to pieces, so for that reason, it might be fun, but there are toys for that. Shop clerks are NOT experts.
Try moving them to a different place in the cage. It is kind of funny how they will ignore them on the right side of the cage, but will play with them on the left side. My birds love it when i move their toys around :)
just like when you move the furniture around in your house. :D It gives them a change of pace. My budgies hardly play with some of their toys, but I've been rotating them.
@chocogirl999 i don't think that is very nice so if i were you i would just keep that to your self and i mnot trying to be mean to the girl talking but i agree with you lol
COG287, if your parakeet is tearing his nest apart, this is a good sign. This is what parakeets are meant to do, in nature. It's as natural and healthy to them as it is for us to walk. :)
my dad says puting alot of toys get in there way of flying depending on the cage and alsso not alot of toys are fun for parakeets they to make new ones
yes that my point! The bird will think there is another bird in the cage, they will chirp at the bird in the mirror (aka your birds reflection) and it dosnt reply then they will spned all there time in the mirror
that is why you get two parakeets.....they are flock birds, when they have 1 or more brd in the cage with em they feel safer......
Well while that is true when you get 2 parakeets they will start ignoring/dislike you and you will soon be just looking at the birds instead of handling them....
Not necessarily. I've got two parakeets, and they both love playing with me, as well as each other.
The trick is to only let them eat out of your hands the first few days after you get them. Then they associate you with food, and have no problem sitting on your finger and cuddling you, even if they have a cage mate.
i tried to get some toys for them but they got to crowded and they freaked out man!

This info is all based on the basic stereotypes for budgies!
WRONG:
-small cage
-that's a FINCH NEST
-nest is a signal 4 mating budgies
-too many toys overcrowd a small cage like that
-ugh u need a doctor

"this is a budgie wondering what on earth she has put in his cage!"
1) snuggle huts are NOT suitable for budgies, they can be seen to hens as nest boxes, you don't want an egg layer
2) finch nest? LOL WHY?!
3) boring perches, no change in diameter
4) cage is to small

My sentiments exactly that nest will last about 5 minutes before it's desrtoyed
