Besides that, if you don't win the contest, that would be a good 'first' project to work on. It seems like in every wood working magazine I have bought that is always a hot project.
I already have a couple of bench plans picked out from Popular Woodworking's website. If I win this contest, the prize is some fantastic books. One of them being Christopher Schwarz's book about workbenches.
your bench does suck haha That squeaking would drive me nuts unless I had a couple beers. In that case it would look live Obama's desk in the oval office
