I know this was over two years ago but damn... there should be some provision within ANY "cash for clunkers" law in the future against destroying cars with low production numbers or specialty cars with extremely rare and low production trim levels.

I own a 92. these cars sold for 32,000 dollars new. what a shame. 14,xxxx some cars were ever imported into the US. My 92 still gets 27.4+mpg on the highway. I average about 26.5 mpg combined. Glad this program ended when it did. Car manufacturers got the sales boosted by this, but then they started ramping up at the factory, and now they have lots and lots inventory again. Nothing good about C4C

actually those engines are worth money.. they are common engines for kit aircraft and also popular as engine conversions for volkswagen vans.. its a flat waterboxer 6 cylinder.

WHY?! Oh my god I would kill for one of these. We did cash for clunkers, but it was with a 1997 Dodge Intrepid. I bet this car ran well, too. And I'd be willing to bet the guy/girl that owned it didn't know what they had.
The trouble is, these cars have a tough time drawing $4500 sometimes, especially if the transmission is on its way out, which is plenty common. What I don't understand is how they achieved 18mpg mixed for a stock one. I've got a 5-speed, 4.11 gears, an honest-to-God ECU chip, I drive the car like I stole it and autocross it on Sundays and can only achieve 17mpg CITY. The thing rips 25mpg highway effortlessly. This car should have never qualified for this program.
Any decent dealership that knows the value of future collectibles would have made the owner an offer to buy the car outright and re-sell it. But they are so f**king greedy, they don't care. I blame the stupid ass owner for trading it in. He or she didn't realize what they had. We are destroying history, folks.

has 113k miles and no issues..i'm really considering this.
