no, i was not familiar with it, but thanks for enriching my vocabulary... sorry if i seemed a little ignorant; usually i don't really care about someone's pronunciation if the music is good, but something about the combination of this german guy's bad english with his bland, inane lyrics and a repetitive lounge music style makes ME "facepalm".

Personally I quite like his accent and the rich, textured patches he's using. The transitions are well timed and the lyrics meaningful, if not profound, in my /humble/ opinion. Ok, the lyrics are a little.. err.. well what do you want? It's minimal. Less is more! It's more about, the.. well.. the sound. His vocals are nicely breathy and well.. uhh "inflected"?

i agree with you on the texture, and i have to admit that he conveys the mood quite effectively, but minimal doesn't always have to mean repeating the exact same theme over and over with slight variations of instrumentation. there's a lot of potential, but i think he could have done better simply with (and i'm not changing my mind on this) better pronunciation of the word "happiness", seeing as it's a key element here...
