We've had 6 black cats in our home in a 20 year span, 5 boys and 1 girl, 2 of which are current residents, and they've never caused any bad luck. The only despair they've ever caused our family is when they're gone. :(
One of our black kitties was stolen on Halloween 2005 wearing 2 collars, and we still miss him so much. <3 His disappearance also convinced my parents to let us keep our other cats indoor-only.
We love our kitties, all of them, even the black ones. They're our kids. <3
I adopted a little black boy kitten and was rather surprised when I heard the superstition actually was wide spread enough to keep cats from being adopted. I wasn't going looking for a black on, but I wasn't planning on avoiding them either. Mom and I noticed all the black ones and wondered why. Later, we were informed that people often don't adopt them. nyway, 5 stars! That's for a great video. Black kitties need homes too.
People have no problem breaking with superstitions that could keep you safe ("don't walk under a ladder") or ones that used to save you money ("break a mirror, 7 years bad luck"). So why did this one remain?
What Phoebe doesn't understand is why we bump into her in the dark! So we had to move carpet runners & such so she wouldn't blend in. She's got no clue about her natural camouflage!
I can barely see, and I have a black blanket, black chair, black sterio... So I'm going to have to get Seti used to a collor w/ a bell on it. Yes, I have stepped on him in the dark. Fortunately, I stopped before allowing my foot to drop. lol
They adapt pretty well. We put the ribbon on Phoebe b/c it was cute, but surprisingly she left it alone so now it's a fixture.
Of course we had to make it loose to be like her collar which will break if she gets caught on something, the new safety features in pet products which I think is good.
The bell helps if they're moving fast, but when they're creeping...

Thanks for the story there, I was shocked too.

That growling cat is a Familiar. It has a demon in it.

Lol! Lol! Lol! That had me had bent in half for 30 seconds!
Are little "furry children" have scraps in their own kitty ways not too dissimilar to toddlers.
After getting a few courses in lifespan human development, IMO cats = toddlers & ours sure live up to it!
