@ jsw302 What a SHAME the camera on her face while he plays and still NOT on him during his solo!! Well @ 1:24 there's a 6 sec close-up. At least there's that...but I love the song, love Les Paul and glad you uploaded it ♥
It's interesting how the voices of these wonderful singers like Mary Ford , Peggy Lee, Chris Conner, Doris Day etc had a loving and healing quality which is not so much in favor in these more aggressive times ( when we need it ).
I have been in love with this song for 60 years now and it just keeps getting better. One million times better than what is now out One of the great gems from a decade filled with gems
@Kitandroxandbec Heard this song for the first time about 6 months ago and been in love with it ever since. The young and the old still share a common love for great music.
Les Ford is a genius, of course, but let's not underestimate Ms. Ford's abilities. Her overdub precision is incredible. When she does that string of Ahs in the middle, not only is it an oral/aural orgasm, it's the fricking Mary Ford Tabernacle Choir. I LOVE THESE GUYS!
I didn't know Les Paul was this good.

What must it be like to be the guitarist who everyone else strives to be and that's Jeff Beck too. What great talent.

Multitracking, tape delay and live overdubbing, and of course the maestro himself, and Mary.
I can watch and listen to this forever.

I like the juxtaposition of Les's fast pace playing to Mary's laid back singing style on this song.

Only Les could play a guitar like that - everything else was an imitation.

If he wasn't one of the best guitarists (and she one of the est singers), the Statue of Liberty is made of tin, not copper.
Can you believe it, twenty-five vocals!

@stingray100100 yeah, every other electric guitar player, even to this day, seems like a child just learning how to play compared to Les
