  • no words....didn't think a version better than hawks and doves existed..

  • This wasn't the 'Rolling Zuma Review', otherwise known as the 'Coastal Bar Tour' which happened in 1975 with Crazy Hose just before the release of Zuma .... The first time that Neil performed with Crazy Horse since the death of Danny Whitten. Frank 'Poncho' Sampedro had just joined the band .......

  • Yeah gives me chills.

  • Thank You For The Upload

  • This gave me chills all up and down my body...I'm so glad you posted this, thank you.

  • The Hawks and Doves solo version is breathtaking, beautiful, and a classic Neil moment. This is better!!! Shit, did I really just write that. The guitar and harmonies are perfect. Hope we get a Ducks show from Neil's archives.

  • i lived in santa cruz druing this time and went to almost all thier gigs. word of mouth only and cover was like 5 bucks tops. neil had a big rig with a trailor full of recording equipment and he shared some great mota with me and a freind.

  • This was a great time to be in Santa Cruz!

  • the harmonies are unearthly and i am just loving it.

  • where did you even find this? it's awesome.

  • @Bayonetskeelz This have bootleg CD,Title name is ”Duck Meets Neil Young”(Label:Zooey),It is completed 18 songs of this club show,Recordet date is 2 of Sep 1977.

  • That guitar lick is awsome!

  • Right on. Fricken sweet, eh. Small town Ontario in the fall time.

  • This is awesome... I have a bootleg show of Neil and the Ducks somewhere and I don't believe this song is on it. Thanks for posting this.

  • Dude....if you were a lady I would ask you to marry me for posting this....fricken awesome...

    Stay true,

    The Meltdownman

  • There is a great Wiki page on the Ducks. Not sure how complete it is. They were THE band of Summer that year. Neil announced that cover would be $2.50 or less to see them and I attended every show. He had contractual problems and could not take the band outside of Santa Cruz, IIRC. He moved there for the Summer and at the end, his house was broken into and he decided to move back home. I'm sure he is sitting on a treasure of recordings from that time.

  • this is wild ? --- makes me wanna ride the big dipper ? --- and take some girls under the boardwalk ? --- my band played the cruz in the 60's --- B.N. --- before neil --- of course we played rock/surf/beatles type stuff --- where was neil ? --- oh , thats right --- he was down in la la land --- with his buffalo band --- fighting the lapd , and la co sheriff , while we real nor cal surf stoners played --- we would never go south of big sur --- theres nothing south of there , right ?

  • they played at The Catalyst, usually unannounced and the big scramble would happen. people trying to get tickets. i met jeff blackburn much later and he's really a good guy

  • the sPoOk....

  • Great song but Daffy quacked off harmony... those of us in the BAU (serial killers profilers) know what that means. Jeff Blackburn co-wrote "My My Hey Hey - Out of the Blue.

  • so dam good!

  • this is my favourite song. I like the rest did not know this version existed. Thankyou so much for posting it, this has truly made my otherwise crappy day. Big love to you :)

  • wow! What a treat.

    thanks for the post.

  • Love this tune...and wild to hear it done electric. Wish it was better quality. I always felt a touch of Ventura Highway in the chord progression.

  • Nice to hear it go electric. Little Wing is one of the those perfect songs and is better acoustic song but the haunting guitar is cool .. hey Jimi your Little Wing was great too. Hey, Steve Ray Vaughan your Hendrix Little Wing was Zumatic too. 2 greats died but Neil continues on. When Neil dies it will hurt me like Hurricane and leave me Helpless. Neil just continue; don't die & keep singing for the birds (expecting to fly, Birds/ Little Wing and 5 more) but don't fly above them ..never .

  • Incredible version!!! Thanks so much for posting!!

  • would not of believed this audio existed! i thought it was a wind up. Remarkable stuff, thanks

  • Awesome version... I always loved this song.

  • Necer heard of Young and the Ducks before... strange. Really nice version though. I love the little guitar riff. Nice to have u back Alonso

  • Back in those days, Neil would sometimes book some bar to play live but do it under a phony band name to prevent it from being rushed by fans. The Ducks must be an incarnation of that.

  • @jackstpaul

yup , they played santa cruz bars only if i remember correctly

  • @ricv64 It was dubbed, "The Rolling Zuma Revue" in humorous homage to Dylan's "Rolling Thunder Revue".

  • yeah. cool :)

  • Very cool, Chris! Thanks for sharing.. miss your videos
