  • There are about five reconstructions of the old bulldog (Olde English Bulldogge, Victorian Bulldog, Valley Bulldog, Aussie Bulldog, and the Olde Boston Bulldogge - I may have missed some), plus original breeds such as American Bulldog and Ca de Bou/Mallorcan Bulldog (or Mastiff).

Why not breed back the old type in the modern, deformed breed, if they don't want to lose it?

The breeds mentioned are all functional AND nice.

  • Stupid country,if they have the old ones back they will be absolute killers,we breed that evil out to make the lovely British bulldog, gentle kind and loving.

  • @pokerkingcrew - So you mean there is no such thing as a dog being healthy AND gentle, kind and loving?

  • buy a groundshaker bulldog!!! i forgot all about them babys!!!

  • These bulldogs of the "new" age will be 10 times more dangerous too if bred the correct way ,,it has to be pitbull/american bulldog or dogo argentino to change the british bulldogs bloodline back the opposite way in my eyes,,any thoughts younoobs?

  • theres already the original bulldog only thing is its got american in front of its name lol

  • c'mon...those dogs are deformed. Be real.

  • WHO WOULD BUY THE 100 YEAR AGO VERSION ? I WOULDNT !!!

  • @xSASsniperPro i would never buy a dog, always adopt :)

  • @xSASsniperPro I would, I like athletic dogs that will live longer than 6 or 7 years.

  • i think what makes me laugh... How ignorant people are.. i am not a breeder but am loving pet owner and have had the pleasure of own 2 of these beautiful and loving dogs.. all breeds have problems..love um or leave um... the breed should continue .. the way it is . Don't like it.. don't buy or breed them!!

  • @Creene1 the way IT is?, really? or the kennel way?

  • atlast!!

  • Makes me laugh.. With all of the selective breeding that goes on in livestock, and unethical standards in the name of profitability on taxable corporations which is perfectly acceptable.. Every single "pure breed" is more suceptible to illness.. in fact any human interference in nature results in the suffering of some animal.. The double standard lies in it's taxability.

  • IMO an excellent idea - well past-time, too.

i'm sick of facial-folds, stenotic nares, extended soft-palates that occlude their airways when they sleep [apnea], skin-fold dermatitis, food allergies, atopic skin-disorders which are chronic [causing the poor dog to dig themselves bloody or chew their hair off or create lick-granulomas],

dropped-haws that allow entire weed-seeds to fall into the unprotected eye,

lip-folds that hold food and reek if not bathed daily, exercise intolerance,

    ...

  • Well, I know a number of bulldog owners who have bought their dogs fom top breeders and none of them are sick.

  • @VainEldritch It's not that the dogs are "sick." They are defective by design, and gadfly72 sums it up very well. Might I also add that their body shape prevents natural mating and birth...it is because of humans that this breed maintains its existence. Even the ridgeless Rhodesian Ridgeback that would be a kennel club DQ is in better condition than the CH bulldog.

  • Bulldog 3.0 is coming up
