Wow, now this is some different but very cool sounding stuff. I always liked WR but it's been years since I really took a good listen. This is what happens when you walk down a bunch of different roads.
The piano yelling its presents to the world is telling us something else too. Its preparing us for his wind brothers who calm and sooth the soul with their subtle whispers in the darkness of the night. A timeless piece.
This is a Wayne Shorter composed piece and the best one the album. He was by far the better composer in Weather Report, and their music eventually died primarily because he stopped being the dominant player in the ensemble for whatever reason. His new band is without question in the best contemporary Jazz today.
