  • does it mean that im going to be a pro beacause wherever i go my i feel my left fingers that automaticly play solos and when i come back from school the only thing that i like to do is to play guitar from 3 o clock till 6 o clock

  • I just get the buzz by listening to excessive amounts of The Black Keys ;)

    Nice video anyway.

  • helpfull =)

  • I'm aware that this will be an off-topic question but does anybody know the historical logic and the function of a carved f-hole in the bass side of a solid body electric guitar like that of Rickenbacker and Telecaster Deluxes? By the way, Chappers is on point here. Sometimes learning a song and if you notice a part where you have difficulties, working on that subject, can be the best practice that one can do but it'd be cool if Chappers will do a video on warm-up routines ;)

  • Rob, your guitar. Is. Beautiful!

  • This is the best guitar clip on youtube I've seen. Awesome dude. Just awesome. You should do a 'Top Gear' for guitar

  • Does that guitar have coil taps? it sounds very strat-y in this vid.

  • have a look @ my chnl Chap Various artist aboard.

    & Feedback Rocks!

  • "ENERGY"

    \m/\m/'s

  • I usually get set up, play one or two scales to a metronome, play open chords, play barre chords, play over a few backing tracks and then play a few songs (my own and others) takes roughly an hour and a half and I enjoy it :D

  • This is exactly what I was thinking, as soon as you start looking at the clock and thinking i wanna play an hour from now, it becomes hard work instead of PLAYING guitar. GOOD MAN.

  • Here's another! Gianluca Ferro! (8-strings for something different)

  • @omeganukestrike yeah, from now on I'm going to use both US and UK "schedule",depending on the situation. LOL I love it

  • 1:48 :1:51 Lmao

  • By the way, thank you for the lesson.

  • What's a shed-you-uhl...

Is that the British word for sked-jewel?

  • @Hatafuriyamanokaiju It's abit of both. ;)

  • Chappers, since you're looking for new guitarists to inspire you, look up Davy Knowles, he's from the Isle of Man, sweet blues guitarist and singer.

  • Happy Haircut, looking awesome \M/

  • good

  • chappers, have you listened to the new Joe Satriani album? I think you should really listen to it, probably one of his best albums. (out of everything he has made so far) But if you already have listened to it, I salute thee.

  • best guitar advice I've heard in a long time. Thanks :)

  • Got a few good tips outta this video. I'm guessing the next one is gonna be titled "How To Handle Your Kids- Chappers style." XD

  • Chappers, listen to Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Storm or Sleep. There are some amazing guitar sounds on those songs, if you can get into them.

  • 1:49 LMFAO

  • The first time i heard Bleed the light, that was an imspirational moment \m/

  • Chappers, please talk about Buckethead some time? Surely he is a god?

  • so in short, don't exactly 'practice', just play

  • Chappers! you always speak the truth!

  • Emil Wrestler from Daath and Sergio Klein from The Outside are really great!

  • You know what I think has proven to be the biggest detriment to my practice ethic? Video Games. It's so hard to admit it, because I never used to be that into them, but it's that instant gratification that destroys the long term goal-oriented mindset of real practice.

  • @VintageburstStandard

i sit playing CoD with a guitar on my lap and play during match making (or if i'm playing S&D when i'm dead)

i can have headphones on for music and put the game music through my speakers... its a nice compromise... and more often than not, after a while i'll put down the pad for a bit and concentrate solely on the guitar.

  • @6Hellbilly6Deluxe6 I've tried to do something like that before, and found my focus to be a little too split. I can, however, watch movies/television while practicing. So long as it's not something that really draws me in. In fact, If I'm practicing these days (which I try to do daily) it's usually with Hulu or Netflix in the background.

  • Hey Chappers , I like how you move your lower jaw left to right when you play those

    crazy solos! ;D

  • Chappers, you say to learn that music theory that you need right then and there, but how would you go about doing that when you know absolutely no "official" theory?

  • I'm young :D

  • This is great advice. You have confirmed some long standing ideas I have had regarding my practice routine and given me new ideas to consider. Always love it when you roll out a lesson. Thanks Chappers!

  • F@*#ing FANTASTIC advice.

  • YES!!! Transformers: The Movie for the WIN!! I love that soundtrack!!!

  • Chappers, can you do a vid on motivation to play guitar? Y'know, when you hit those rough spots and don't know where to go?

  • Blue on black, tears on a river...

  • @jeffandmatthardyrule Kenny Wayne Shepherd? lol

  • @jeffandmatthardyrule oh ahahah i saw this before chappers said it :P

  • @maskedguitarman97 Lol, it's my dad's favourite song too at the moment.

  • @jeffandmatthardyrule it was mine for a bit there too.

  • @maskedguitarman97 I like it. Hard to imagine Chappers shredding to it though...

  • It's not even slightly guitar rated oh all knowing simian overlord but Dub FX has some incredibly inspiring music that is definitely worth listening to. Anyone who is doing it for the love of the music gets my recommendation.

  • PHIL X HE IS AMAZING. U AND PHIL ALWAYS GET ME EXCITED!!!!!

  • 5:17 FUCK YA DUDE!

  • @odgeUK thanks for the tip mate, glen proudfoot is insane (Y)

  • Phenomenal advice. Absolutely brilliant.

  • sheh-joo-ul..............skeh joo ul.

  • I personally hate practicing on a schedule. I practice when I want, because if I force myself to practice, I don't have fun playing, and I never improve on the piece I'm trying to perfect.

  • epic.

  • Sage words, chappers \m/

  • wise word, chappers \m/

  • that comment on satch was so true!

    rock on -cris

  • you should say "Shredules" hahahaha

  • Chappers, i know how to practise..............

I thinnk the people of youtube would like a lesson on how you got so god damn sexy

  • @ManBearPigInc Ha ha ha WTF??? Are you watching the same guy??

  • @RobChappers Oh shit sorry, i thought i was on the Stick's page

  • @ManBearPigInc Actually, a lot of people have trouble with practice routines; not everyone finds it easy to stay motivated/focused. I know I've been waiting for this video for ages.

  • @ManBearPigInc glad you know how to practise... now lets work on your speeling :) (yes I know I spelled"speeling).

  • I love to listen to somebody's Blues track I try to put my blues licks into it. KWS & Jonni Lang are 2 great Blues artists. I need to practice my scales and theory more :-( Also the leader in our Church band said for me to learn the Nashvile Numbering System. Ever hear of that? It's where the head of the group can say to play the song in a different key just by saying like 1-4. At 52 my learning isn't as fast as when I was 18. LOL That's when I should have started playing. Keep playing Blues:-)

  • Best way i find to keep that spark and that energy in your playing is to have a steady stream of new gear.Which is sad.

  • shed-u-alls

  • were;s the hair!!!!!!!!!!

  • very inspirational video....thank you

  • Check out Kelly Simonz on youtube. Type in" Renaissance K" to check out an amazing performance. Let me know what you think.

  • Dude... you are so wise.

  • hey Chappers. not sure if you'll read this but it's worth a shot. if you want to listen to some REALLY involved music, look up the band In Flames and look up their early stuff mostly, though all of their music is excellent. their lead guitarist doesn't shred that much (he does a little. not in every single song though.) but you might just be blown away buy the amount of effort they put into each track. especially on the early-ish albums like Clayman.

  • 2:47 sounds like walk solo slowed down

  • This was a very interesting and informative video, Bob!

  • hey chaps, if you like new stuff go check out synyster gates from avenged sevenfold. Hes a crazy guitarist, hes a great sweepicker and shredder and makes the most coolest harmonies. please go check out avenged sevenfold

  • "Don't worry about tuning..." - heathen!

  • Now this is some useful piece of advice. Thank you very much Chappers, you are truly an inspiration.

  • Chappers.......check out Timo Kamarainen. Blues, jazz, bit of everything really.

  • Chappers you really do look better without the long hair.

  • Finnally

  • what a fantastic video

  • my schedule is- wake up late, run late for college, get out of college sleepy as hell, walk in my room, sleepiness disappears, play guitar 2 hours, listen to tokyo jukebox and scenes for a while, check out chappers, and play again, then sleep. Barely any eating going on...

  • My strat has a bad buzz, does that count as the Buzz or is the Buzz not in relation to my strat Buzz. How do you get the real Buzz without my strat Buzz..........?

  • hes lost his hair but not his powers lol

  • True, true... it sall in vibe! Chappers the Joda! ;)

  • lol this is like me every day XD i normally have to do homework but i pick my electric or acoustic guitar and play for an hour, then i work a bit and then just rip it for 2 hours

  • Joe Bonamassa gave me that feeling yesterday!

  • @tylerdwells thats what she said

  • After you got your head shaven, you constantly look like you just came from a sauna!

  • You're completely right about searching for new music I got bored of Metallica after listening to it every SINGLE day. I also hate finding music that sound the same. A lot of guitarist sound the same on youtube. There's rarely any new good guitarist. I mean the guitar is a new instrument. There's new technique to be learned on it. Howcome piano music always sound different but not guitar music. It's a shame :(

  • SHEDUWELLES.

    Needz 2 use dem, k?

  • CHAPPERS!!!!! i have always wandered (being a self taught guitarist) where to start with theory, sure i can run up and down E minor pentatonic all i like, but im really stuck as to what i need to learn next, and what i should/ shouldnt need to know. pleasse help me and probably many others by explaining some of this stuff!

  • face at 2:53 PURE VICTORY

  • hey chappers. a song you might be interested in hearing/learning/posting an awesome cover on youtube is "Street Fighting Man" by Lynch Mob. its a real rockin song I think :)

  • I like the way you say "schedule". Seriously, I wanna pay you to follow me around all day and say it every minute.

  • @johncerasi "Schedule" ;-)

  • @RobChappers

    Shed Duel.

    On-guard!

  • You're vids make me want to play chappers. Even if it's just you sitting down and talking I get all excited !!

  • what a wonderfull bed time story :)

i wanna play but its to late for my 120W Tube amp :'[

    check list:

    - sleeping

    - jamming

    - nothing

    - sleeping

    i love my week list!

  • Shed you uhl

  • Glen Proudfoot and Mika Tyyskä. There's two guitarists to listen to Chappers. :)

  • @odgeUK Awesome I'll check them out, thanks dude ;-)

  • @RobChappers why your at it rob, checkout TSOTSC band.. its sick bro!

  • @RobChappers

    Bands that got me further:

Agent Fresco (Song: Long time listening), Incubus (Songs: Rogues, Sick Sad little world), John Mayer (Songs: Neon, Vultures, who did you think I was), Alter Bridge (Songs: Ties that bind, Blackbird)

Please, Chappers, check em out, I think some of this might be pretty challenging.

  • @RobChappers ,Vogg and Dave Suzuki. Checkout those Guitarrists AMAZING!

  • @RobChappers these guys are monster plays oh Monkeylord!

  • @RobChappers And Tosin Abasi and Joe Robinson

  • @odgeUK I second this. Glenn Proudfoot is unnaturally good.

  • I WANT A CHAPPERS LESSON!! RIGHT NOW NOW NOW!!!! \m/

  • Dudes! Calm dowwwwnnnn ;-)

  • I see the beggining of Chappers hair returning!

  • Mr Sandman, bring me a dream...

  • i've been playing 30 years, and this is sound advice, except i would not be so rigid. i pick it up for 30 minutes maybe 3 times a day, or whenever i feel like it.

  • Chappers, why do i get so motivated to play the guitar when i watch your channel. I mean.. i play sure... a lot... but you make me wanna play till my fingers bleed....... I think you got Jedi mind tricks goin on here.... just sayin. Keep up the Great Vids!

  • Rob looks great with this new look. For those of you confused and stressed out about theory, check out some Guthrie Govan lick library lessons, and subscribe to David Walliman.

  • Thanks Chappers!

Just wondering, have you heard of Alexi Laiho? If so it would be really cool if you made a video playing some licks in his style, it sounds like he just sticks to the minor mode, but he gets so much crazy shit out of it haha.

    Cheers :)

  • Hi Chappers,

Thanks for the informative and inspirational video.

I've been making excuses for the past few years, but I think I may finally break down and take some lessons.

  • @Ohdear721 You're irritating!

  • @RobChappers don't listen to him, Rob. keep doing what you're doing.

  • @RobChappers Point proven, another constructive response from the 'monkey lord'. Just because you have your minions of little fans who seem to think you've 'made it' and achieved something, in my eyes you're nothing different to the millions of other people posting guitar related stuff on youtube. Unsubscribed.

  • @Ohdear721 Huh?

  • @Ohdear721 I wish he wasn't forcing us all to watch his videos like this. If I had a choice I'd DEFINITELY stop watching.... no..... wait.... hang on?!!! (sarcasm's a bitch ain't it)

  • @antonystevensmusic Well i used to enjoy the videos, which is why i subscribed in the first place, I'm only mentioning that Chappers seems to have changed in his approach? So i should just stop watching and not voice my opinion, just to leave the comments completely full of people licking his arse?

  • @Ohdear721

    fuck off troll

  • @Ohdear721 If you don't like him, then don't watch

  • @rgjmce666 Thanks for that.

  • @Ohdear721 You sir, are an idiot. Nobody else finds Chappers annoying or patronising or irritating. That's not patronising talk, that inspirational talk. Chappers is a modern day prophet, forget Jesus, he was just some mad bloke in sandals. Chappers, on the other hand, is the one speaker of true wisdom, knowledge power and WIN!

Thankyou Chappers! You make me see past the struggles of being a guitar player and make me ROCK!

  • @KarmicCH You mean nobody else who watches his videos finds him annoying? This is exactly what i mean, he has achieved nothing, his playing is ok but he talks drivel, I think the guitar manufacturing thing is a good route but surely he should be playing one of his own guitars in these videos, even if purely just for advertising reasons? I doubt you would have seen Les Paul playing a strat?

  • @Ohdear721 So any guitarist that makes a guitar isn't allowed to play any of their other guitars, just for advertising reasons? Does this just not show that Chappers doesn't care about advertising his guitar in EVERY single video. And nobody who finds him annoying would watch him, you moron. But I can't see why any self respecting guitarist would find him annoying. He's got playing skill, he has great feel and tone, and writes epic riffs, and is confident... what's not to like? Go play guitar.

  • @KarmicCH Well if he's serious about creating a business then yes in youtube videos which thousands of people watch, he should definitely be using one of his brands guitars, you moron. I never said he was a bad guitarist, although I disagree about him having great feel and tone. Go back to sucking his dick.

  • @Ohdear721 You're a useless waste of space. Why the hell would you sit and waste your time insulting Chappers and anybody that appreciates what he does. You could use that time developing your ego to a more abnormal size than it already is. He's a guitarist, he plays guitar, he doesn't need to only play his own brand. Having his own brand of guitars is just something extra on the side.

  • @KarmicCH He's not really a guitarist though is he? He's a youtuber who also works in a music shop?

  • @Ohdear721 Of course he's a guitarist.. hence all the playing guitars, designing guitars, buying guitars, talking about guitars, teaching guitar, recording guitars, reviewing guitars and guitar amps/accesories... He's most definitely a guitarist.

  • @KarmicCH I disagree. First and foremost he is a youtuber.

  • @Ohdear721 The constant 'win, epic, fail, epic fail' etc. Gets annoying, but that seems to have been toned down a bit.

  • @Ohdear721 not really, thats why im still watching his videos, like you shouldent be!

  • @psplad12345 Perhaps you should spend your time practicing spelling instead.

  • @Ohdear721 Maybe you should let the monkey Lord kick your fucking ass!

  • @psplad12345 Haha ok, I'll bring my lightsaber.

  • @Ohdear721 I find it especially irritating when people raise thousands of dollars to help those in need out of the kindness of their heart.

  • @coandca11 Well then you are a horrible human being.

  • @Ohdear721 And you're a troll that can't sense sarcasm. Go back to your cave.

  • @coandca11 Will Chappers be there?

  • @Ohdear721 Nah, he's busy spending time with people that don't suck.

  • @Ohdear721 I think he seems a little sick... *worried face*

  • @Ohdear721 oh dear

  • @Ohdear721 You're a pain in the ass

  • Chappers ftw!

  • 0.52 face of doom

  • I just try to play a few hours every day whenever I feel like going FUCKYEAHROCKNROLL

  • rob you selling the ghost fret very intrested!

  • i dont have time i watch your videos to much hehe!

  • can i suggest you a band/guitarist to listen to?

  • Hello Chappers,

Wondering if you ever heard of a band named Fozzy. Very Ozzy Osbourne oriented, but with more of a Metallica edge. Make sure you check it out, especially the songs Under Blackened Skies and Grail. Kickass stuff.

  • @TheJH2010 Replace Metallica with Stone Sour in that description.

  • Thanks a lot, I learned a lot of things with video :-)

p.s.: That guitar is Awesome !!

  • This morning I decided to listen Black Sabbath's Paranoid and play along because it was the first album that got me into guitar. I don't think it's tuned to A440 so needless to say playing all the really overdone riffs like Iron Man sounded pretty bad, but it was the most I've had in ages. I remembered how impossible the solos seemed when I first started, I could just do them by ear lick by lick now without any problems. Probably because I didn't know about double tracking before...

  • This vid may change me, thank you.

  • you probably get that a lot but you are awesome.O_0

  • u help me be me chapps.. come to nashville you can stay in my house.. and we will go to my dads studio and rock out with our cocks out english style!

  • I finished playing guitar for about an hour, and now i saw this video and i'm thinking:

An hour is fine? hmmm... I'm gonna play for the rest of the day now!!!!!!

  • 2:35 - "guitar players that I think are amazing and get me fired up"

For me, thats you. When I need motivation to get off my arse on the internet and play, I go to youtube and watch some chappers :)

  • @SwampAshSpecial Thanks dude! I am honored to be your guide \m/

  • I didn't really get that urge to play between the 2e and about the 5e year of playing, i found that only really came after years of playing, when i could freely improvise witch to me is one of the ultimate joys.

  • @ergysmania1 Dont be dumb and search his video,s. He cut it for a good couse.

  • Rob always a inspiration watching your vids!

thx for putting up new videos daily!

  • I dont have a job i quit school , i live with my parents and im 20 years old and i play and write whole afternoon and the whole night almost everyday !! well most days i do that !! haha and it feels incredible everything i pick my guitar up

  • nowadays I learn by just playing anything, but every time I play differently. That's the secret, creativity.

  • Best advice on Earth! Maintain that fresh feeling of excitement when you're playing. And there is no better way to do that, other than to broaden your listening. It could even go this far - Santana always says he puts his guitar down for 6 months, so that when he returns, it's like the first time he played it. Definitely a fan of that feeling! Rock on, Rob! You're super humble and selfless, and that's why you're our favourite guitarist! :)

  • hey man, why do you never play the ML1/2 anymore :(

    love your video dude :D

  • admit it you just want to show off your awesome hufschmid, dont ya.
