does it mean that im going to be a pro beacause wherever i go my i feel my left fingers that automaticly play solos and when i come back from school the only thing that i like to do is to play guitar from 3 o clock till 6 o clock
I'm aware that this will be an off-topic question but does anybody know the historical logic and the function of a carved f-hole in the bass side of a solid body electric guitar like that of Rickenbacker and Telecaster Deluxes? By the way, Chappers is on point here. Sometimes learning a song and if you notice a part where you have difficulties, working on that subject, can be the best practice that one can do but it'd be cool if Chappers will do a video on warm-up routines ;)
I usually get set up, play one or two scales to a metronome, play open chords, play barre chords, play over a few backing tracks and then play a few songs (my own and others) takes roughly an hour and a half and I enjoy it :D
This is exactly what I was thinking, as soon as you start looking at the clock and thinking i wanna play an hour from now, it becomes hard work instead of PLAYING guitar. GOOD MAN.
chappers, have you listened to the new Joe Satriani album? I think you should really listen to it, probably one of his best albums. (out of everything he has made so far) But if you already have listened to it, I salute thee.
You know what I think has proven to be the biggest detriment to my practice ethic? Video Games. It's so hard to admit it, because I never used to be that into them, but it's that instant gratification that destroys the long term goal-oriented mindset of real practice.
i sit playing CoD with a guitar on my lap and play during match making (or if i'm playing S&D when i'm dead)
i can have headphones on for music and put the game music through my speakers... its a nice compromise... and more often than not, after a while i'll put down the pad for a bit and concentrate solely on the guitar.
@6Hellbilly6Deluxe6 I've tried to do something like that before, and found my focus to be a little too split. I can, however, watch movies/television while practicing. So long as it's not something that really draws me in. In fact, If I'm practicing these days (which I try to do daily) it's usually with Hulu or Netflix in the background.
Chappers, you say to learn that music theory that you need right then and there, but how would you go about doing that when you know absolutely no "official" theory?
This is great advice. You have confirmed some long standing ideas I have had regarding my practice routine and given me new ideas to consider. Always love it when you roll out a lesson. Thanks Chappers!
It's not even slightly guitar rated oh all knowing simian overlord but Dub FX has some incredibly inspiring music that is definitely worth listening to. Anyone who is doing it for the love of the music gets my recommendation.
I personally hate practicing on a schedule. I practice when I want, because if I force myself to practice, I don't have fun playing, and I never improve on the piece I'm trying to perfect.
@ManBearPigInc Actually, a lot of people have trouble with practice routines; not everyone finds it easy to stay motivated/focused. I know I've been waiting for this video for ages.
I love to listen to somebody's Blues track I try to put my blues licks into it. KWS & Jonni Lang are 2 great Blues artists. I need to practice my scales and theory more :-( Also the leader in our Church band said for me to learn the Nashvile Numbering System. Ever hear of that? It's where the head of the group can say to play the song in a different key just by saying like 1-4. At 52 my learning isn't as fast as when I was 18. LOL That's when I should have started playing. Keep playing Blues:-)
hey Chappers. not sure if you'll read this but it's worth a shot. if you want to listen to some REALLY involved music, look up the band In Flames and look up their early stuff mostly, though all of their music is excellent. their lead guitarist doesn't shred that much (he does a little. not in every single song though.) but you might just be blown away buy the amount of effort they put into each track. especially on the early-ish albums like Clayman.
hey chaps, if you like new stuff go check out synyster gates from avenged sevenfold. Hes a crazy guitarist, hes a great sweepicker and shredder and makes the most coolest harmonies. please go check out avenged sevenfold
my schedule is- wake up late, run late for college, get out of college sleepy as hell, walk in my room, sleepiness disappears, play guitar 2 hours, listen to tokyo jukebox and scenes for a while, check out chappers, and play again, then sleep. Barely any eating going on...
My strat has a bad buzz, does that count as the Buzz or is the Buzz not in relation to my strat Buzz. How do you get the real Buzz without my strat Buzz..........?
lol this is like me every day XD i normally have to do homework but i pick my electric or acoustic guitar and play for an hour, then i work a bit and then just rip it for 2 hours
You're completely right about searching for new music I got bored of Metallica after listening to it every SINGLE day. I also hate finding music that sound the same. A lot of guitarist sound the same on youtube. There's rarely any new good guitarist. I mean the guitar is a new instrument. There's new technique to be learned on it. Howcome piano music always sound different but not guitar music. It's a shame :(
CHAPPERS!!!!! i have always wandered (being a self taught guitarist) where to start with theory, sure i can run up and down E minor pentatonic all i like, but im really stuck as to what i need to learn next, and what i should/ shouldnt need to know. pleasse help me and probably many others by explaining some of this stuff!
hey chappers. a song you might be interested in hearing/learning/posting an awesome cover on youtube is "Street Fighting Man" by Lynch Mob. its a real rockin song I think :)
Agent Fresco (Song: Long time listening), Incubus (Songs: Rogues, Sick Sad little world), John Mayer (Songs: Neon, Vultures, who did you think I was), Alter Bridge (Songs: Ties that bind, Blackbird)
Please, Chappers, check em out, I think some of this might be pretty challenging.
i've been playing 30 years, and this is sound advice, except i would not be so rigid. i pick it up for 30 minutes maybe 3 times a day, or whenever i feel like it.
Chappers, why do i get so motivated to play the guitar when i watch your channel. I mean.. i play sure... a lot... but you make me wanna play till my fingers bleed....... I think you got Jedi mind tricks goin on here.... just sayin. Keep up the Great Vids!

Anyone else think that Chappers is starting to get a bit annoying? No offence or anything, but in the last 2 months or so he seems to have become a bit patronising and irritating.
@RobChappers Point proven, another constructive response from the 'monkey lord'. Just because you have your minions of little fans who seem to think you've 'made it' and achieved something, in my eyes you're nothing different to the millions of other people posting guitar related stuff on youtube. Unsubscribed.
@Ohdear721 I wish he wasn't forcing us all to watch his videos like this. If I had a choice I'd DEFINITELY stop watching.... no..... wait.... hang on?!!! (sarcasm's a bitch ain't it)
@antonystevensmusic Well i used to enjoy the videos, which is why i subscribed in the first place, I'm only mentioning that Chappers seems to have changed in his approach? So i should just stop watching and not voice my opinion, just to leave the comments completely full of people licking his arse?
@Ohdear721 You sir, are an idiot. Nobody else finds Chappers annoying or patronising or irritating. That's not patronising talk, that inspirational talk. Chappers is a modern day prophet, forget Jesus, he was just some mad bloke in sandals. Chappers, on the other hand, is the one speaker of true wisdom, knowledge power and WIN!
Thankyou Chappers! You make me see past the struggles of being a guitar player and make me ROCK!
@KarmicCH You mean nobody else who watches his videos finds him annoying? This is exactly what i mean, he has achieved nothing, his playing is ok but he talks drivel, I think the guitar manufacturing thing is a good route but surely he should be playing one of his own guitars in these videos, even if purely just for advertising reasons? I doubt you would have seen Les Paul playing a strat?
@Ohdear721 So any guitarist that makes a guitar isn't allowed to play any of their other guitars, just for advertising reasons? Does this just not show that Chappers doesn't care about advertising his guitar in EVERY single video. And nobody who finds him annoying would watch him, you moron. But I can't see why any self respecting guitarist would find him annoying. He's got playing skill, he has great feel and tone, and writes epic riffs, and is confident... what's not to like? Go play guitar.
@KarmicCH Well if he's serious about creating a business then yes in youtube videos which thousands of people watch, he should definitely be using one of his brands guitars, you moron. I never said he was a bad guitarist, although I disagree about him having great feel and tone. Go back to sucking his dick.
@Ohdear721 You're a useless waste of space. Why the hell would you sit and waste your time insulting Chappers and anybody that appreciates what he does. You could use that time developing your ego to a more abnormal size than it already is. He's a guitarist, he plays guitar, he doesn't need to only play his own brand. Having his own brand of guitars is just something extra on the side.
@Ohdear721 Of course he's a guitarist.. hence all the playing guitars, designing guitars, buying guitars, talking about guitars, teaching guitar, recording guitars, reviewing guitars and guitar amps/accesories... He's most definitely a guitarist.
Wondering if you ever heard of a band named Fozzy. Very Ozzy Osbourne oriented, but with more of a Metallica edge. Make sure you check it out, especially the songs Under Blackened Skies and Grail. Kickass stuff.
This morning I decided to listen Black Sabbath's Paranoid and play along because it was the first album that got me into guitar. I don't think it's tuned to A440 so needless to say playing all the really overdone riffs like Iron Man sounded pretty bad, but it was the most I've had in ages. I remembered how impossible the solos seemed when I first started, I could just do them by ear lick by lick now without any problems. Probably because I didn't know about double tracking before...
I didn't really get that urge to play between the 2e and about the 5e year of playing, i found that only really came after years of playing, when i could freely improvise witch to me is one of the ultimate joys.
I dont have a job i quit school , i live with my parents and im 20 years old and i play and write whole afternoon and the whole night almost everyday !! well most days i do that !! haha and it feels incredible everything i pick my guitar up
Best advice on Earth! Maintain that fresh feeling of excitement when you're playing. And there is no better way to do that, other than to broaden your listening. It could even go this far - Santana always says he puts his guitar down for 6 months, so that when he returns, it's like the first time he played it. Definitely a fan of that feeling! Rock on, Rob! You're super humble and selfless, and that's why you're our favourite guitarist! :)
does it mean that im going to be a pro beacause wherever i go my i feel my left fingers that automaticly play solos and when i come back from school the only thing that i like to do is to play guitar from 3 o clock till 6 o clock

Ohdear721 10 months ago
@Ohdear721 So any guitarist that makes a guitar isn't allowed to play any of their other guitars, just for advertising reasons? Does this just not show that Chappers doesn't care about advertising his guitar in EVERY single video. And nobody who finds him annoying would watch him, you moron. But I can't see why any self respecting guitarist would find him annoying. He's got playing skill, he has great feel and tone, and writes epic riffs, and is confident... what's not to like? Go play guitar.
KarmicCH 10 months ago
@KarmicCH Well if he's serious about creating a business then yes in youtube videos which thousands of people watch, he should definitely be using one of his brands guitars, you moron. I never said he was a bad guitarist, although I disagree about him having great feel and tone. Go back to sucking his dick.
Ohdear721 10 months ago
@Ohdear721 You're a useless waste of space. Why the hell would you sit and waste your time insulting Chappers and anybody that appreciates what he does. You could use that time developing your ego to a more abnormal size than it already is. He's a guitarist, he plays guitar, he doesn't need to only play his own brand. Having his own brand of guitars is just something extra on the side.
KarmicCH 10 months ago
@KarmicCH He's not really a guitarist though is he? He's a youtuber who also works in a music shop?
Ohdear721 10 months ago
@Ohdear721 Of course he's a guitarist.. hence all the playing guitars, designing guitars, buying guitars, talking about guitars, teaching guitar, recording guitars, reviewing guitars and guitar amps/accesories... He's most definitely a guitarist.
KarmicCH 10 months ago
@KarmicCH I disagree. First and foremost he is a youtuber.
Ohdear721 10 months ago
@Ohdear721 The constant 'win, epic, fail, epic fail' etc. Gets annoying, but that seems to have been toned down a bit.

lilchile123 10 months ago
Hello Chappers,
Wondering if you ever heard of a band named Fozzy. Very Ozzy Osbourne oriented, but with more of a Metallica edge. Make sure you check it out, especially the songs Under Blackened Skies and Grail. Kickass stuff.
TheJH2010 10 months ago
@TheJH2010 Replace Metallica with Stone Sour in that description.

I didn't really get that urge to play between the 2e and about the 5e year of playing, i found that only really came after years of playing, when i could freely improvise witch to me is one of the ultimate joys.

nowadays I learn by just playing anything, but every time I play differently. That's the secret, creativity.
