Marlowe just a short question!!! Well first of all I want to thank you for all the knowledge shared by you with all the bass players of the world, you're definitely contributing to the bass world and you are also a big influence....I've seen you are using a Sandberg California Bass, I actually own a Fender JB American Standard, what bass do you think is better!!! Thanks
This is the bomb - I have been playing bass for years and this cat should be recognised for the help he gives to aspiring players. And wow is he good!!!!.
It's amazing how that bass guitar was designed by humans to be used by humans. It was made to accept dirty human hands that shed skin and body oil residue. As opposed to equipment which was made by machines, for machines, designed to operate under immaculate conditions. Human things are so fascinating!
@shaggymattrocks Define famous? look at the views on all his vids, add em up, players from all over the globe watch and learn from him, instead of watching t.v. my wallpaper is his bass...well Im gonna go watch t.v. lol
hey i love you videos i have been into the bass for a while now and i just got my first bass...it is kinda old and it is fretless....it had frets but they were hacked off..so it is much harder to play (i have had it only two days...and i have never played guitar) so far i can only play three songs at three scales, and i can play them pretty well, but i was wondering if you had any tips for playing fretless basses?
i've started with fretted bass, then I got a fretless bass. if you have the right intonation on a fretless you won't have any trouble on a fretted one ;-) but if you play stuff like teen town from jaco, then it's so much easyer to play it tight and clean on a fretless, because on a fretless you don't have the fretnoise. it sucks if you play a bit untight on a fretted bass and then you just hear "click". if you play those fast lines it's easyer on fretless in my mind.
I WANT THAT BASS! ha ha...Way to rock pink like a real man. =P I've mostly obsessively watched your youplayalong videos, but I'm definitely going to start learning along with your tutorials once I get good enough... ^_^
I notice that you don't right-hand dampen the A string when you move to G or D. Do you find it unnecessary or do you take care of that in the left somehow?
It has a lot to do with the modes and scales used too. Disco uses a lot of simple octaves, while funk is a little more complex. When I think funk I think of mixolydian mode.
Brilliant!! TY

@chokicou This tune is more disco because of the 'four-to-the-floor' drum beat too, which is typical Disco.
