Today's dobermans are bred as companion dogs but still retain their loyalty and protective nature. @46619TAB said it well, take the best traits and you get a doberman. We ended up with our first, a male, because the owner had to move. He was so sweet and so smart. Dad who loved Great Danes was sold when he said Dobermans were the best. Arbooz - beautiful videos of a lovely family! We played many of the same 'games' with ours. They're a beautiful pair!

I'm planning to get a dog and I've narrowed my choices to three

1. Greyhound

2. Toy Fox Terrier

3. Doberman

I will probably 'adopt' rather than buy a puppy so as much as I love the look of the Dobie, I'm a bit wary. Anyone have advice?

@46619TAB A Doberman is kind of like a Porsche.....there is no substitute. I had my Jordan girl for 16 years. I can sum it up for you about the choices: I was wary too, and I did not want a Doberman. After about 4 years I decided I never wanted any other dog. Ever. Take the best qualities of every dog and roll them into one, and you end up with a Doberman. Like I said, there simply is no substitute. Don't be scared. Just treat them like the ocean. Admire & play with them, but never lose respect

Hi...me and my boyfriend would love to get a dobbie, but Im a bit afraid..not of the dog, but I don't know if I'll be able to train it properly.I had a few dogs before but small dogs like maltesian or chihuaha...and a dobbie is a...a dobbie :D are they easy to train? (srry if I made some mistakes, im just learning english)

Yes, they do eat "human" food, as well as nutritious dog food for a "balanced" diet. :^)

It is true that they can be scary - they are large and very strong animals, but for us as their family they are just silly goofballs with endless loyalty and love.
