@TechnoWelsh Actually, I was pretty dumb then. What you're meant to do is find the resolution of you're screen.

WinXP:

Right click on desktop and select 'Properties'.

Go to the last tab, 'Settings' and find what you're resolution is. Use this as the image size.

Vista&Win7:

Right click on the desktop and select 'Personalise' then at the bottom, select 'Display Settings' Find the resolution.

Mac:

Go to the System Settings app.

Select the Displays section and then use the one highlighted as image

@Pulkadrage Okay, that's easy! Before deleting, right click on the layer and select "Apply Alfa Channel". It should then become transperant!

Since I haven't got Gimp open at the moment, I can't really remember the exact name of the tool, but i'm pretty sure that's right!

Detailed Steps:

1. Select the outline of the "X".

2. Press Ctrl+L to bring up the layers. Right click on the layer with the X and select "Add Alfa Channel". Or go to the Layers menu item, transparency and then select "Add Alfa Channel".

3. Cut the excess image. (If the "X" cuts, go to the "Select" menu and select "Invert". Or press Ctrl+I.)

Anyways, check the description (I'm updating it) to get a link to the "X".

Mac:

• Go To your Applications Folder.

• Right click on Gimp and select 'Show Package Contents'

• Go through the folders (in order) 'Contents', 'Resources', 'Share', 'Gimp', '2.0', 'Images' and replace 'gimp-splash.png' with the image you want to replace it with (I recommend replacing it with a png file).
