  • I have been going through your videos for the past two weeks and have enjoyed them very much however someone should show how to really clean a deer, this was a very poor job. I intend to watch all of your videos and have just placed my first order through your store. Keep up the good work I have already learned quite a bit.

  • oh deer! that dear sure is getting cut up! (im hilarious i know)

  • Great lesson

  • I remember we skinned a doe and the think was pregnant and all the milk came out... we felt like shit after

  • gay hacksaw

  • what type of accent is that?

  • I want BRAIN!!!!! fresh brain!!!

  • P.E.T.A. ( people eating tasty animals) hahaa sorry couldnt resist ......

  • youre helping me save 50 bucks and learn some good stuff!! great video!!!

  • Great video. Thanks man.

  • the 8 people who clicked dislike were from P.E.T.A. great vid man

  • I commend you on posting a video. Having not, i won't critisize. but two little words of advice because i HATE to watch anyone struggling, especially a fellow deer hunter. 1) dont hack-saw throught the legs! it's WAY too much work. Use tree pruners. you know the tucan sam looking limb cutters. and 2) cut the throat all the way around to the neckbone, and that little neck will just twist off like nothing. Youre killing yourself with that little hacksaw !!!! leave that thing in the garage!!!

  • Good Job. A deer like that makes great Jerky.

  • you too slow but good job anyway..good video..

  • @xxxlastmigxxx slow because he is showing how.

  • where's this at?

  • Ha ha ha, that's so gross!!! Oh man, I couldn't do that, great video though!!!

  • mmmmmmmm yummy xD

  • that deer is like, "Wussup"

  • great demo buddy

  • if a deer is hanging in a freezer with the temp about 25-30 degrees, how long can it hang for untill u need to debone it

  • this was slow and painful to watch, i couldnt imagine actually processing a deer like this. Make yourself a butchering station and put some thought into it. from hanging to freezer hour and a half. fuck this shit. yes that includes wrapping.

  • That guy uses his knife way to much when he skins. Extremely slow process. Get it started and peel it down man!

  • when im processing deer i use a power saw

  • when they are cold its a pain i use a tenis ball and pull it of with a truck

  • Man thats sad that he was shot in the back leg previously. Ive made some shots that were not so good on deer, but never that far off. Geez...

  • lol it looked nasty when u wer sawing into its head. only because it still looked alive. apart from the floppiness. haha but do deer get rigamortis?

  • I am sure that saves you a ton of money on not having to go to a processor.

  • just a suggestion. you don't have to use such a big knife to take the hide off. Using a smaller knife might help take less meat with the hide. however it looks like you know what your doing, like i said it was just a simple suggestion.

  • what could you use the deer hide for cause when I hunt deer I keep the hide please comment

  • Kids over in Iraq would a had that head off n no time :)) nice job.

  • good video, bet that meat is soooo suculent.

  • It's like watching a red state version of Dexter.

  • fatality, hacksaw wins

  • dude u totally chopped that deers freaking head off lol wow good vid

  • this critter was a bit bigger than your used to you wasted more of that good meat than you needed to

  • What the fuck are you doing to that deer, hillbilly.

  • @p20 dont watch the vid and dont comment

  • @p20 dont watch if u dont like it and dont comment, that deer had a hell of a chance more than the cow that was sacrificed for your cheese burger

  • @p20 Yeah hes a HILLBILLY I AM TO WHATS WRONG WITH US WE WILL SURVIVE YOU WILL DIE.And hes clearly skining it get a life troll.

  • Thank you for sharing. Excellent vid!

  • do you bleed out the deer first?

  • Thanks this helped me skin my first deer got it bout... 1month or so ago my first appreciate the tips Thanks Again

  • You gotter done good Critter.

  • I'd sure love to live next door to you.

  • Who makes that fixed blade in the video? Thanks.

  • That is the Pathfinder Bushcraft Knife-Refer to our Web Site

  • @kwarnisplayer Nevermind... you give a run down on the knives at about 5:45. That Pathfinder knife looks nice.

  • wouldnt a chainsaw be faster?

  • I cut the rack out in one piece so Brian could mount it to a plaque.

  • where do I cut it if I wanted to mount the head??

  • If you want to do what's normally called a "shoulder mount", then most people cut the hide just behind the front shoulders, then skin all the way up to the base of the skull. Cut the head free from the neck so that you end up with the head and the hide intact all the way down past where the front legs were. Leave as much hide as you can for the taxidermist to work with.

  • Thank you for the info. I have yet to kill one this year. Doesn't look promising!

  • Thank you for the reply!

  • the deer was still alive , sad.

  • Not hardly. It sat in the cold outside all night without any guts.

  • just kidding , sorry for the confusion .

  • right on.

  • Looks good so far.... Good job!

  • ★★★★★ Demonstration!

  • ok..... whatever.........

I know the bullshit the US government is doing, but I'm not that worried about it, since I'm in canada.

  • what?

  • CRITTERDONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is what the larger Mora is made for. Butchering

  • RIP mr.whitetail

  • Do you keep and use all the sinew and bone from the stuff you cut off?

Seems like it would all come in handy for stuff. Knife handles, etc.

  • i got a nice two point like that in junoir season

  • thats called a spike

  • thanks for the info!

  • Awesome videos! Thanks Steve/Critter

  • I am liking these videos, I am learning a lot!!!!!!! 5/5*

  • As always, a first rate job. I feel you fellows have a bright career ahead of you with the kind of videos you create. The "outdoor" channel, "Military" channel, etc... need the kind of work you do. Keep up the good fight and stay the course!

  • ...also, thank the camera person. Nice work.

  • Patriot36. It is my pleasure to help provide quality videos with Critter.

  • Nice steady shots and a good view of what Critter is doing throughout the process. You might just have to edit in some credits at the end of your segments so we all know who's helping Steve to look good...wink. The info section of the video would work too.

  • LOL!!! loved the crack remark about the hacksaw blade. Nice one Steve. Keep up the great work blood brother! 5 stars.

  • I like to use my knife to cut through the neck most of the way until I get to the neck bone. Then I pull out the ole Razor-sharp Hack Saw and go through. I just find that the knife blade cuts the meat MUCH better than the hack saw. You can also use all four feet to make a nice gun rack for the house depending on your wife's tolerance level.

    Great Job Critter

  • good jog

makes me excited for my pathfinder knife

  • nice, looking forward to the butchering

  • that's one sharp knife

  • Sharp saw L.O.L.

  • gr8 job steve(critter), good to see the pf blade in action, hope you enjoy those steaks, respect tintin18975

  • Amazing video! Can't wait to see more!

  • I had some reservations about the field dressing video, however this video was excellent and very professionally done.

Also it takes good man to learn from criticism and still see the funny side.

  • Great job man :o)

  • ive never hunted in my life and i have a couple questions.

    1. this is exactly the same as what a butcher would do?

    2. is it worth it to tan a hide?

  • 1). the butcher normally gets it skinned uncut.

2). If you need the hide for something, or if you have someone who will buy a tanned hide from you then you might tan it otherwise it is a waste of time tanning a hide just to throw it way.

  • thanks:) so you have to do what he done then the butcher will normally take it?

  • yeah kind of but at least where I am you have to be registered I think, I would agree it with the butcher first, where I am at you must use synthetic tool (ie plastic/G10 handled stainless knifes...) for hygiene reasons. But that is how you might give it to a butcher.

  • oo never knew you had to use a certain knife:)

  • Great video Critter. Good to see you using your blades too, specially the Pathfinder knife! 5*****!

  • Critter is the yellow on the meat of the leg a bruise or an infection? Is there any other signs that you may want to search for to find inedible meat in the carcass? How fare do you cut away from the inedible meat? Thanks for sharing Critter & Brian good job the both of you!

  • great job critter. looking forward to part 2. I aint no expert butcher either but I get the job done. My 9 yr old helped us skin and cut up 2 deer already this year and she is already looking forward to helping when we go back out in december.

  • Love this video.

  • great video... very informative.

  • Well done My Friend, Got a kick out of the "sharp hack-saw" line, Glad you still have your humor!!

  • please leave the head on nancy pelosi's pillow

    thanks

  • Thanks for the video, taking that deer did it a favor. Great job, I am no perfectionist either, getting the job done is the important part. I appreciate your sharing.

  • You say that you are not a professional, but I can tell this wasn't your first rodeo.

  • Good Job, done worse and better myself, I saw my first deer skinned when I was 7, I think its a good thing for children to see how their food is processed and they should be part of the process, glad you used a sharp knife this time Critter when I watched you gut him I was crawling. Great Vid

  • Do they let you partially skin the hide before you check it in? I am not a big game hunter so I don't know the rule but for birds you are require to leave a feathered wing attached but it can be almost cut through with just one tendon holding it on. Maybe the same is true for a deer, you could skin it out but leave it attached to the head.

  • gboyd242 Sorry to interrupt your conversation but I am fascinated as to why this leaving bit's attached whatnot, like the feathered wing etc ? I have sat here for 10 mins trying to give a reason for it, and cant figure one out !

  • find DOWNLOAD HELPER its a firefox add-on it works great!

  • What a difference watching you work with sharp knives compared to the last video of the field dressing with that round edge knife you had to use.

  • cool

you could have kept the legs for a gun rack or jacket hangers, kinda cool, basically skin the leg down to the hoof, remove as much bone as possible and tan the hide, hoof and all, then replace the bone with wood and sew up the seam, and your done.

  • Oh that poor deer!!! Lol joke, mighty fine job Critter! I hope this doesn't get flagged or banned! This is a top notch imformative video and I'm looking forward to the quartering and butchering part. No antibiotic growth hormone riddled supermarket mystery meat for awhile!!! That is why I hunt. Again well done Critter!

  • Great job Critter!

  • sweet! good job critter! thanks a lot, and very interesting and informative!

  • Yall better download this quick before youtube bans it. I have seen a LOT of animal processing vids get flagged and banned quickly.

  • yeah, but this video isn't gory or bloody like other ones, I see no blood or gore in this one, so he should be safe.

they should give the youtube community a rating scale where they can put a rating on the video, giving a warning to the viewers of what their watching and to make sure viewers can't retaliate against the video and youtuber, defend the youtuber, not the ingrates who report them.

  • Exactly. I mean I wouldn't want my 7 year old watching just yet, but this is a very well shot video and this would be exactly how I would have done it. This information is needed and should be available in some format.

  • I'd love it if they'd make the feature, then the site could open up to more stuff, separated by age restrictions, then it could be a awesome site, with no boundaries to the videos posted, no more complaints for material in the videos.

  • New to computers. How do you download this video? thanks.....Rogue

  • There are several programs out there that can trap the videos off of youtube. Just google "download youtube videos" and you should be able to find something for free out there.

  • thankS Critter for that video I watched your first one on field dressing. I shot a fine doe a couple days later. Info was very helpful. I skinned it buy cuttong around the legs and tying a large nut under the hide at the neck. put a rope around it and tied the other end to a winch. Hide peeled right off. I interested in how you will butcher this buck. Keep em coming critter and I will watch em.

  • ....sorry pressed the send button by misstake.

Cut the neck right where the head and neck are seperated.

The limbs are cut where the parts of the leg ar joined, make a cut all around and bend the lower part in false direction. By doing like that you won't have any "bone meal" at the body of the game.

Also please skip the waterhose to clean the game of, you will spread a lots of bacteria in stead of cleaning it properly.

    Good work though over all.

  • You are doing a nice job over all but why don't you cut the head and limbs by using your knife? it's really easy and it takes much less effort then using and cleaning your hacksaw. For the head just press it towards the brisket and stab your knife just behind the ears, you will see where the head divides from the neck.

  • Sorry to interrupt Andreas, but gota say, If ever I can get up to Scotland, and happen to bump into you, I will be proper freaked out if'n you start paying close attention to the area at the top of my spine ! lol ! : =)) atb m8, .S.

  • I know you aren't a professional deer processor, but you can get a good bone saw to replace the hacksaw for around 25 bucks. Or just get a bone saw blade and make your own saw. Way faster, and makes for better looking chops and roasts.

  • After you get that deer processed, how about a segment on favorite deer recipes.... I'll bet your viewers could send in a ton of em'.

  • Nice Job Guys a Great Pathfinder School Video!!!!!!!!!!*****

  • Hah..ha...sweet man

Steve was it the camera or was there a lot of infection in that hine quarter? Hard to tell on the video.

  • Looked like the start of an awful infection to me. Probably did the deer a favor harvesting it when he did.

  • i'm imagining a nice steak after that.

  • Nice demo. I've helped to skin a deer before, but am looking forward to further processing the meat down into the different "cuts."

I do have to admit that it was still a little disturbing to watch you hack saw into the brains (to get the antlers). I'm not sure why, but I didn't care for that part.

    Thanks for the video.

  • i am glad Brian got the injured buck before he died and all the meat was wasted.

  • Thanks for the learning, it might come in very handy in the future!

Deer burgers anyone....., mmm mmm mmm!

  • great job brother. I like the mention of a sharpening kit...was that a snark at some of the people who moaned about the dull knife....lol That Pathfinder makes a fine skinner....hope I can get one soon.

  • Thanks for the video man 5/5.

You make it look so easy!

  • Thanks Steve. It all seems less intimidating after watching your last vids. Good work Buddy!

  • very good!
