who ever dislike this video i hope you understand that emma mccune died and rescued emmanuel jal plus i hope you come to floyd fest im gonna dance for we want peace so excited it is july 30th 2011 and p.s. emmanuel jal fought in the war when he was like 7 so understand this is culture and emmanuel jal and we want peace
EMMANUEL JAL HAS BEEN THERE...AND IM GLAD GOD HAS BLESSED HIM WITH A STRONG VOICE & GREAT TALENT TO EXPRESS DEEP PAIN & SORROW OF MANY WHO'VE SUFFERED IN SUDAN & WAR TORN COUNTRIES. HE SEEMS VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE LOVE OF JESUS THAT WAS SHOWN TO HIM THROUGH EMMA
i have. i watched it twice in two days. i've seen all sorts of great people and survivors of all kinds of horrors... but emmanuel jar is something else. it is beyond admiration how someone who has lived through all that, finds strength to do what he does. that's just... i don't know, borderline superhuman.
i love his songs, he is a great singer, but also as great, and very meaningful, and touching morals behind them, he doesnt just talk fast and call it music.
What a great song. i have fallin in love with it, i wish i could meet emmanuel in real life. now this is what music is really about and it has a point behind it and i just love it ... I LOVE YOU EMMANUEL JAL ...you are my idol :)
this is real music. Not a black guy rapping about killing people, selling crack and big bitches. He actually raps about something that matters. I want the book now and i can't wait to hear more from him. Bless you Emma McCune and all the other child soldiers
I saw him today live and i will never forget that day for the rest of my life!
Thank you Emma McCune for rescuing such a beautiful and gorgeous man like Emmanuel Jal to speak about forgivness and peace. Giving everyone to take a second look and respect there lifes and do something about the world they find unsaticfying:)
@shltrev8998 go fuck yourself dickhead. havnt you heard this guys story and his inspiration for rapping? or r u some heartless dickhead who wants to hear raps about garbage like cars and fucking "bitches"
@zombieflock1017 ... "some hard times" is a severe understatement. this man has been to hell and back. literally, he's an inspiration to every single person he comes in contact with.
you are such an inspiration to me. i read your book and cried for you and your family and Emma, i am truly happy you never let the hate keep you down :) keep fighting it with your music, peace will come <3 -Li
i saw Ejal twice face 2 face n i got him autograph he came 2 china like 3 or 4 mounths ago n yea i saw him. It was pretty kwl shaking his hand n listing 2 his music live
This isn't the rap or hip-hop i usually like to listen to, but man this guy's story is just something else. But seriously, i mean stop hating on regular rap, its just different flavors of the same kind of music.
If you watched Jal's documentary you'd have heard him remark that children growing up in rough positions like poverty and crime in America are war children in their own sad right, and perhaps their music is just as much about catharsis to them as Jal's is
God, I really love his songs! Instead of mean stuff and ugly words said just to be "cool", he really tell stories about what he have been through, and this is really meaningfull!!!
I watched a movie about the war, and Africa. And E Jal was there, and he met his family for the first time for 18 years... His little sister had been raped as a little child, three times, awful!
And now he is trying to make a change!!! It's just wonderful!
I heard this song the first time yesterday when I saw a documentary about him. I couldn't stop crying. we're living in west and sometimes we tend to forget about the people in need. We know there is people in need, but still it feels so distant from our life. sometimes I think we don't wanna open our eyes, we like living in our bubble, but this documentary hopefully make people open up the eyes. Emmanuel Jal <3
This guy has such an amazing story to tell, he tells that he while he is "famous" now he still eats 1 course of meal per day! Because he is saving food for the people in Afrika or in particulair Sudan, where he comes from! This Emma where he sings for is the woman who saved him from the war child life. It's incredible.
incredible how someone who he spent so little time with ended up being such a powerful inspiration, and today Emmanuel passes on this message and inspiration
@101feven101 dude you definitely should. i just finished reading his book. there are no words to describe it. you really feel him in it and especially his plight. truly inspiration stuff here. read it! and tell everyone you know to read it!
I had to write a paper about the accountability of child soldiers in my college class. Research led me straight to Jal, and I could not be more grateful. He is an amazing artist and he has really overcome so much to be where he is today. I also respect him more as a human for the human rights work he does. This is an amazing tale and song.
@deathofcupid I am currently writing a persuasive speech about the use of child soldiers in my year 10 English class and it has also led me to this. It is an amazing story, and I am mentioning Jal in my speech so that everyone in the class knows his name and what he has been through.
This song touches the heart! We, the world, must change the way that people think of the 'other.' We cannot allow the elite to use us any longer, for war, fighting for nothing more than resources and power. We, the people, can change the world, but only if we band together against the power elite.
The way to change the world, the way to change our thinking is to work one person at a time with the idea that 'we' are all ONE!
i like his music and the story he is telling, not some worthless shit. actually got me up to do something for human rights like writing about in my school news paper. shit is sooooooo cash.
well, Colder Than Hell was a great memoir about the korean war, but i need to read some more memoirs :/ but i agreem a long way gone was possibly the best book ever
@DSAsauz word but this was also a relle good book, because in long way gone he's on drugs and everybody on his side was indeed on his side unlike the Dinka-Nuer conflict tht rampages the chrisitian side towards the end of emmaneuls involvement in the war
