I once saw a cat on a stool, looking around i found no place to sit, I calmly asked the cat to move. He laughed a pleasant laugh and kindly responded "Why do I look to heavy to sit in your lap?" Compromise, so easy yet always our last thoughts for some reason.
Beautiful tree... Beautiful song... :) And it's a beautiful message too! I believe in innocence and true love. I wish everyone could feel this kind of inner peace at least once a day, and then they would take time to appreciate the things that really matter. Like family, God, love, integrity, purpose... There are so many things I have to be grateful for! Thanks for sharing this song.
This song takes on a new meaning to me now that she slipped through my hands. I used to find this song very romantic. Now it makes me feel sad deep inside.
Saw the movie today... Love is letting go.. in another way, love is to remember. Not to forget.
But remembering means to feel the pain all the time. Don't forget me... I'll never forget you... still this song is representing all this questions I have.
Where are you?
Do you feel pain?
Do you remember me?
Do you want to?
... were you scared?
& still it hurts to know - I'll never get an answer.
Imagine life without music like this anymore...just the rap and pop. it would never be the same. this is the music that inspires you and makes you think about unthinkable things. just think what the world would be like. my opinoin is that the world would have people who never sticked up for themselves, never follow there dreams huh never even try beautiful music like this is slowly disappearing. i do like pop and stuff but that music doesn't touch your heart like the others do.
Listening this music.... I remembered all those good things I lived with him... My dearest Emilio =( PD: he is far away from me, almost 150 milles, I can't see him per the distance, and also, I can't talk with him, because in the place where he stay, dont allow him have cellphones, or those things... RAZON: He's Gay... He wants change.... and I will support him... this is hard to me... but I will. *tears*

Clint Mansell is living proof that classical music will never die. As a man who prefers rock music, I am openly admitting that no music style will ever touch classical music. Simply a masterpiece.

wow havent listened to this in years, last time i did i was laying on a couch dreaming of how 3 years would be and now i am here. life goes by so fast. my newborn niece certainly did find this soothing.
It's cold and cloudy outside right now as I'm listening to this. Feels like the perfect weather for such a beautiful song. The clounds, rain and the cold appeal to me.
Love this piece of music. I like the basic concept of the video, a solitary man walking away from the camera towards the horizon, towards a tree. For the end, I would have had the person sitting down against the tree, side to the camera, and with the face showing fully one side (profile shot) or at angle, just to keep the theme of "looking to the horizon" (Mind you I haven't seen the film, so if there are references to it, I don't know them.). In all, good work and thank you for this.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music I have heard in a very long time. It inspired me to write a song about somebody I love very deeply, using this music as the base. Clint Mansell, the greatest of respect to you, for you are a genius.
i fell asleep to this song on my ipod, and i had a dream
I was sitting on my front porch with my family, and i was watching the world go by at super fast speeds. Everything was a blur. Except my family and i. We just sat on our front porch swing. Never changing, always the same. I watched thousands of years go by, in the blink of an eye.
this song got me to actualy get my piano back out just so i could start to play again, even though my love of music is not nearly as deep as this song it was the first song i truely learned by heart.
his music is just so unique. it makes you feel things you have never felt before. it gives me so many feelings at once i dont know what to think when im listening to his work. absolutely captivating. No one will be able to copy his work with the same emotional power he brings out
If you go to myspace and type clint mansell and click on the music profile that has a picture of him with eye glasses. they have this song but it is titled,"the last man." it's a bit different then this one. A bit longer and has vocals. I would greatly appreciate it if somebody tells me where I can download that version. I love it. Thanks.
This makes me sad but also peaceful at the same time, words can't really express all the feelings the human heart can feel, but music can. All you have to do is close your eyes and listen to it..
I think this should be a compulsary study in schools, there isn't many people who can produce such a quality.
Respect for all brothers and sisters out there. Peace!
I was listening to this quite loud in my living room a moment ago...my 7yr old son came in and just stood still watching with me..at the end he said "the piano was saying ..dont forget me". ..a nice moment :)
@PotterPuppetKid me too, I heard of him because he is the scorer for the new movie black swan. You and I have some catching up to do, Idon't know about you but I'll be at that movie.

@DandyDubber :) really magical... i cried over this song. when i broke up with my boyfriend years ago... i couldn't explain it, but it represented everything i wanted to tell him. looking at your comment, maybe it was 'don't forget me' :) it worked. its an outstanding song. and amazing how your son could comprehend it, better than any of us would at first sight

@dcfashmid Do you know why? It's because a little child can comprehend these things, perceive these things, much better than we adults, or young adults, can. I'm proud to say that i'm 14, and i still have the child in me alive. Let's all work hard to stay that way, kay? Because being a grownup sucks :) i know you have to know reality and everything, but what harm comes from being a little childish sometimes?
@2devilbat I do agree that innocence is important. However, there is no use in trying to maintain it throughout life. Sometimes no matter how hard you try you won't be able to hold on to it. Life is progress and change. A way to preserve innocence is to act according to a sane moral code. Keep mercy and kindness in your heart:) I'm sorry I'm listening to this song and it's making me emotional haha
@zuzuwbx oh, it's perfectly fine :) i love hearing people's thoughts over an emotional things. Makes you broader, you know? But i really do believe, that you can hold on to your childishness. Even if you're 56, 23, 78, 12, you were still 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and so on. You still have those years on you. you still have those times in you, you know? you can relive them whenever you want! So go ahead and let go sometimes! :)
@2devilbat I know :) But its an aptitude you end up loosing in time. I think subconsciously I can comprehend what it tries to transmit, but I couldn't put it into words that easy. xD True. I'm 20. I can't really pin point the moment I let go too much of that side. When you notice, you're feeling way too old for your shoes. I still am a little childish sometimes. But its different. You can't truly go back to the innocent side. Really liked your words though. Keep it alive as long as you can :)
@dcfashmid Thank you for liking my words. And yes, i will try and keep it alive. Pray for me, us, and yourself. Pray for all of us, so that we may still be pure and innocent, but still understand the hardships in life. But you can go back to your innocent side. Remember, experience. why not use your experience as a child? why not go back to the times when you were a small kid, and just...reach out with your hands and say "dadah" or, suck on your thumb, or throw a tantrum, things as a child?
when your ear becomes spoiled with uncut dope it takes powerful stuff to get you high. the masses cant count past a repedative 4 count.with words 1234 1234 1234 blagh?
I love these type of masterpieces that provide actual intellectual comments, and not the common "You're such a ___". I do not see one comment here that implies that type of common hate towards others. This is a simply beautiful song that should never be altered or changed in any way at all.
This is one of my favorite pieces of music ever. Instrumental pieces can be interpreted differently by anyone, personally i feel hurt when i listen to this, there's this deep sadness to it, like a deep loss. But i love it lol.
@YT12345678910 its because you dont have a open enough mind to understand it. try listening to more stuff like this and slowly you will become more aware of what makes a song good. Less screaming death metal bullshit and more Clint Mansell. You'll be fine.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@YT12345678910 If you don't like it then you don't like it, but trust me on this...the music is a million times better than the movie.
The Fountain is either the best movie on earth or the worst movie man can make. I'm still not sure which one it is. After watching it, I felt very confused as to what I just watched...and not in a good way. A very "What the hell did I just watch?" feeling. I personally don't think the music fit the movie. I think it was better suited for somethingworthwatching
The movie is essentially a love story of a man who lives eternally. It begins with him as a spanish conquistador and his lover as the queen of spain. After finding the Fountain of Youth, he gains immortality. The modern-day scenes of him is the same man (as a scientist) looking for a cure to his wifes cancer. 600 years into the future, he is shown as a space traveler heading towards the astronomical version of the Mayan entrance to the afterlife.
the most beautiful, most captivating, and most emotionally moving song i've ever heard. for a song to make you feel so many ways in which you can't even begin to explain is truly a miracle. i love this song to death and i hope many other people feel the same way..
@punkdood35 WOW that is an incredible & brilliant comment!!! By reading that & listening to this work of art brought tear's to my eye's .... to that, i say thank you.
@DrHydroman lol well thank you, but you should really thank "eightyeightdays" for posting this vid up, i merely commented what i feel about this song :)
@terminx well, to tell ya the truth, i really don't know how to answer that. it's just that this song is so captivating that i just want to share it with other people. but don't get me wrong. i'm not saying that people SHOULD listen to it because that is completely up to them, but i merely recomend to listen to it for the fact that it shows that you can't simply "feel" by touch, but by listening as well.
Frisson, that is the feeling I get from this song. A sense of size, overwhelming. This inspires awe.

dcfashmid 10 months ago
@dcfashmid Thank you for liking my words. And yes, i will try and keep it alive. Pray for me, us, and yourself. Pray for all of us, so that we may still be pure and innocent, but still understand the hardships in life. But you can go back to your innocent side. Remember, experience. why not use your experience as a child? why not go back to the times when you were a small kid, and just...reach out with your hands and say "dadah" or, suck on your thumb, or throw a tantrum, things as a child?

I love these type of masterpieces that provide actual intellectual comments, and not the common "You're such a ___". I do not see one comment here that implies that type of common hate towards others. This is a simply beautiful song that should never be altered or changed in any way at all.

This is one of my favorite pieces of music ever. Instrumental pieces can be interpreted differently by anyone, personally i feel hurt when i listen to this, there's this deep sadness to it, like a deep loss. But i love it lol.

pradakid123 2 years ago
@YT12345678910 its because you dont have a open enough mind to understand it. try listening to more stuff like this and slowly you will become more aware of what makes a song good. Less screaming death metal bullshit and more Clint Mansell. You'll be fine.

TheCheeseLady 1 year ago
The movie is hard to understand but extremely deep and a sad movie. This song is perfect for the movie.
rhodes1986 1 year ago 5
@TheCheeseLady
*SPOILER ALERT*

@punkdood35 why do you hope others feel the same
terminx 1 year ago
@terminx well, to tell ya the truth, i really don't know how to answer that. it's just that this song is so captivating that i just want to share it with other people. but don't get me wrong. i'm not saying that people SHOULD listen to it because that is completely up to them, but i merely recomend to listen to it for the fact that it shows that you can't simply "feel" by touch, but by listening as well.
