  • that spray looks like smoke

  • Did he died?

  • how can it be fake, you stupid mother fucker ! damn your the stupidist person

  • jeolous jelous jelous

  • this is actually a real video of Jaws which is out in the Pacific. Plus if it looks at all like it was made then in some area then point it out.

  • and i crash at hanalei bay in kauai hahaha

  • mavericks?

  • That guy has balls.

  • At the NAB conference in Vegas, ever larger screens, some 10 feet wide or more. Play such scenes in vivid color. This is so well shot with the zoom out revealing the size of the wave just as it unleShes. For the corporate gazers "that can't be real" I just smile slighy and walk away. They actually get angry at you for saying it's real. Whatever :-) Some day the screens will ne big e ouhh. How much water is lifted up, cresting its own 35+ knot wind just by the wave's speed. What a ride.

  • Holy shyit

  • wow, there were about three instances when i thought he was going to be fish food for sure...

if this is actually real... WOW.

  • To me it looked almost CGI: is it, or is it real???

    No offense meant!

  • damn that guy caught a wicked wave! that crap was HUGE!

  • It looks like he's surfing down a hill. When it starts to break over him at about 1:00 I was really not expecting him to come out at the bottom standing.

    Mad.

  • same

  • grammars for losers

  • That guy was wearing my panties when he did that !!

  • That is Laird Hamilton surfing!!!! Great surfer!

  • he almost made it now hes dead :(

  • I saw that on dvd =)

And for the ignorants... thats not fake

  • i saw this first time on billabong odessy. was amazing!!!!!!!!

  • It's easy to see how people might think this type of thing might be unreal & fake.

Such incredible wave, so big & tsunamic, I'm in perplex, Is this a dream, or a motion picture film? This Isn't fit to be this realistic, indeed, but wait......I am awake. My brain, it says, it is a shame that people could say, this type of thing is so lame and fake.

  • i remember when that happened. it was in '98 at log cabins, one of the biggest swells recorded, waimea was closing out. its not fake. it was filmed by an imax crew in a helicopter

  • no it was jaws you stupid kook

  • ho sorry ah hawaiian

  • where did the jet ski qo?! 0_0

  • Fake

  • no its not dumb shit

  • Totally radical dazical duuuude!!!!!!

  • Narrrrrrrrrrrrrly like chris farley, hang ten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looks Fake

  • The footage is from 'The Billabong Odyssey' and it's 100% real. Pretty amazing film techniques... You'd want to be a pretty confident helicopter pilot!

On another note, how's the bloke's comment below! "It's not that big..." Haha! Classic YouTube comment! This thing is crazy! You're right about the camera angle though.

It only gets this big at a few places: Jaws in Hawaii (where this was filmed), Cortes Bank and Mavericks in California USA, and a few spots in S.Africa, Chile, Australia and NZ.

  • it was at log cabins, not peahi

  • Its not that big its the angle the cameras at

  • your an idiot it is that big its was like 70 ft

  • not sure about this but looks a little fake to me

dont insult me its just my opinion

  • so big it looks fake

  • awesome why didnt u taped it

  • daaam! thats crazy! so wat hapeens if the huge wave falls on him???............

  • ah........he dies

  • haha lol yea right! :D .....wait.....realy?? :)

  • well its just guess really i wonder if he would die :D

  • lol. me and sun people wuz fourwheeling. and my couzin flipped over and the fourwheelr kept rolling after him sidewys and almost rolled on him :D

  • jeez hes good!! =D

  • I spend a lot of time with Alec and Kenny, on the North Shore every winter. Kenny says it's common knowledge that Alec holds the record for biggest wave ever ridden. They even made a film about it called "In search of the biggest wave". So far no one has surfed bigger than the Ace!!!

  • Are you talking about the wave on the postcard? If so, that's not the biggest wave ridden. If it is common knowledge, why are you one of the very few saying that?

  • its not fake brah its just the camera view from the helicopter

  • sweet wave but its fake. its obvious because like 30 seconds and over you can tell its computer graphics. if you cant tell it is, than you are an idiot

  • Prove it's real buddy. I got a mate who works in film production and he's 100% sure it fake.

  • Prove it's real? How about you and your friend prove it's fake. If you really are a surfer, you would know the truth. Do you even know where this is?

  • I do know where it is as it goes, Its Burley Heads in Hawaii!! So there. I can tell it's fake as you can see the blue screen in parts of it where the surfers been super imposed onto the wave! Everyone knows Ace Cool holds the record for biggest wave ever surfed!!

  • You dick head it isn't fake, this was from the Billabong video.. It's Mike Parsons surfing the wave.

  • Burley Heads? It's fucking Peahi Bay aka Jaws. Blue screen parts? When in the video is that viewable?

  • BTW, now I know you only google stuff...Burleigh Heads is not even in Hawaii. It's in Australia.

  • Comment removed

  • The fact that you think it's your mystery surf spot show enough of your knowledge...or lack of. Alec surfed some big waves but Bradshaw holds the record.

  • this is real. It's from Billabong Oddysey and it is a ridiculous movie! These guys are mad

  • Camera tricks, all of it! That's a 4ft day filmed from above to make it look bigger than it is. Anyway the next day was 5 times as big and no one was out but me!

  • you're a lying fag :)

  • I didn't see you out the next day either pal!!

  • sweet wave!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love when they first pull the camera out. It looks like hes surfing the edge of a waterfall.

  • How the,,, ? HOW ?

  • that wasnt big

  • did he die????

  • its pronounced "is he died?"

  • it makes me feel sick

  • We watched this in the cinema. It was incredible!!!!!

  • whats the name of the DVD? aviable in blueray?

  • it's the first scene in 'Billabong Odyssey'. Don't know about BlueRay ...

  • how fake do you need

  • good for you and for cam-man

  • Fantastic.... great surfer if he had survived that till the end..

  • and to this day, when the waves reach that fateful peak of 600ft, if you look closely into the mist of the blue crush, you can catch a glimpse of this ghostly surfer hanging ten on his shattered board, sporting major shrinkage in his speedo, still searching for the back of his speedo that was lost to severe pucker factor and if the wind is right you can hear his mournful cry to the jetski that towed him out "duuude...come baaack...I'm scared shit-leeess" sleep well, the big Kahuna holds thee now

  • WTF id shit myself

  • To see the actual largest wave ever caught on tap ridden check out the movie "Step Into Liquid". The guys went out to the sea of cortez and caught a wave measured at around 89 feet in height this is just the Crest of the wave. To this date I believe that in the doucmentary that is the largest wave ever surfed

  • the waves in step into liquid were measured in the front qt around 90 feet. That means they were only 40-45 foot waves. This was measured at over 105 ft. in the front-making it atleast a 50 footer. The waves in the Cortes bank were taken into account when they decided to hand this the title of biggest wave ever surfed. Watch step into Liquid again and then really try to compare. This one is way bigger.

  • shit

  • I WUD YAMAHA JET SKI THAT xD

  • is this the wave that won the billabong XXL? or was that not around when this was done?

  • yes, thats mike parsons in jaws in the XXL billabong

  • this is the sickest video i've ever seen

  • i love it .

but I can not even swim so sad....

  • im on the same boat

    it really sucks

  • Woah, that was pretty big! It's funny how many think this is fake.

  • fukin hel!!!:O

  • HOLY SHIT!

That's indeed the biggest wave I've ever seen :O

And yeah this is obvisously real, no doubt about it! But what I know for sure, I'm never gonna try something like that :D

  • Could you just tell me why the camera crew had to be there at the exact correct time wth a helicopter??

  • So that they could get a good shot.

  • Are you kidding me. That wave is obviously real. There is no way that is computer graphics. It aint that big anyways. Camera lense and angle just make it look that way.

  • no its not

  • yeah i agree whit you. thats not the biggest wave ever surfed, plus, thats not the biggest wave that man had surfed in his life, thats mike parson, in maui (jaws) in the billabong XXL, but a couple a years before this happened that same person surfed a bigger wave in cortes bank.

after that another person break the record in jaws, and the past year mike parson surfed again in cortes bank but this time the wave was 66 foot (bigger than the one shown here)

  • Because it was a competition for big waves...dumb ass!!!

  • OOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • that was a freakin MASSIVE wave i am surprised he stayed on for that long !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  • DO NOT FALL OFF DUDE!

  • ahhahaha id think its a fkn tsunami man, how far do they travel away from the shore to catch these kind of waves? anyone know ?

  • he looks so tiny compared to the wave D:

    damnn

im not trying that ... =__=

  • cool lol

  • that was truly an awsome feat, and he beat it out till the end....well done

  • i would shit myself man,

    just watching im scared

  • thats from the billabong movie right???

  • haha i would probly faint if i saw that thing commin my way

  • That was unbelievable nice vid!

  • holy shiat

  • Absolutely breathtaking! Any chance to survive, if something should go wrong?

  • Yea, it's pretty likely that you'd survive. That's assuming that there's not a reef or rocks under the wave.

  • korgmatose1.

there is a reef, and its not pretty sure you will survide to that, in fact is pretty sure that if you wipeout that wave you hit the reef and be caught under the water whit no air after de hit, for more than a full minute. think of that for a minute

  • If there is a reef then yes, you're screwed. But if there it no reef then it's likely that the buoyancy of your board could pull you to the surface.

  • this is the first scene of Billabong Odyssey. Its Mike Parsons surfing a 70 foot break

  • I dont know about you but i'd be scared shitless super skill

  • ui gigantisch da möcht ich net sein

  • uhhhhh...... noooooooooo

  • fake

  • it looks real....why U think its a fake?

  • got gutzzzzzz... man

  • ITS LIKE WATCHING A MOVIE, it almost does not look real, but you know it is, a watery mount everest.

  • Never heard of a place called Jaws it aint no fake !

  • thats fake..... no way they can have filmed that in that perspective all in one shot without a helicopter, and if it was with a helicopter it must have been quite low nearly same level as the surfer....and if it was a helicopter wheres the sound of it??? cuz you can clearly hear the surfboard cutting the water but wheres the rotor???

    good cgi though

  • Its not fake. Patronising cunty. Its Mike Parsons on Cortez Banks.

  • it's mike parsons on his final heat with carlos burle at jaws on the north shore of oahu on the maui valley. the wave before this one that he caught he got a dreadful wipeout. it's not cortez bank its jaws, maui, (peahi) at hawaii

  • thats righ. but so many people get his info wrong..

anyway, do you know how big this wave was?? cause i know thats not the biggest but i dont know how tall is exactly

  • yeh the actual wave size estimated by experts was like 65-70 foot

  • kudos man youve got some guts just think as soon as it started rolling if u wiped out...that would suck

  • wow i have a new found respect for surfing

  • Wow, one must have at least a deathwish to go out there with their agile body .. But surfs up m8 :)

  • thats fucking crazy shit right there

  • wow, that would be huge!

  • fuken nuts!!!

  • fuckin awsome that wasnt a wave it was a fuckin tsunami that guys got BIG BALLS!

  • well done by the computer.

  • No, it's not animated. It's Brad Gerlach on the ski and Mike Parsons on the board at the 2005 Tow In World Cup at Jaws in Hawaii

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

  • OMG!!!!!

    I WOULD FLIP!!!!!!!

  • Holy shit!!!!

  • Das ist total nicht zu fassen!!! Der Mann zuversichtlich konnte nicht überleben. Gelt?

  • this is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awsome.... a must see........ holy crap its big
