dunking is puting the ball in, you can allso put the ball in sideways too, as long as your hand touches the rim after the ball

no you cant put the ball in sideways too as long as your hand touches the rim. TOUCHING THE RIM AFTER THE BALL HAS LEFT YOUR HAND IS A RIM-TAP LAYUP and not a dunk. You need to be able to actually grab the basketball and jump up towards the rim and actually put/force the basketball into the rim and while doing that you touch the rim with great force...not a minor tap.

unless you've got hops like lebron it actually does take really good technique to dunk, it's not as simple as you'd think. it took me awhile before i got the technique down
