  • Caterpillars do start to sing when a solar eclipse occurs. Fact.

  • i had to pause this song to watch a video online for school...I don't think I ever hated doing homework that much.

  • if i could just get a peck on the cheek from jeez this woman is the perfect example of natural beauty

  • wtf

  • Brilliant song!! If you like this check out the song "YOU" by danish act INOUWEE

  • I like the part where St. Vincent was awesome...BEST EYES EVARRRRR!

  • what?!

  • she resembles Natalie Portman in the very beginning.

    and ommm......... 2:00 !!!

  • she resembles Natalie Portman in the very beginning

  • I'm trying to figure out if this is remotely Goth Or Not. ;)

Just saw them in a taped live performance on PBS network's "Austin City Limits". Truly good music, the band was very together, and this lady plays guitar just standing there like the guitarist from ACDC.

Lovely, fit, smart, talented, and her music's good too! And with an album called "marry me", why isn't she married yet? ;)

  • Is she christian? If so, that's really cool. Somehow, i just imagined St. Vincent was an ironic name.

  • @tylerprime1 I read an interview... she wasn't very clear but it's implied she isn't Christian but grew up around it... there's a bit of irony, too, I think.

  • @1hdsquad and Cudi!

  • Fuck You Devil... That's what she's saying but in a nice way.

    It's All about God!

  • that's one cool hat

  • cool hat

  • St. Vincent (Annie Clark) can play (very fluently) over 10 instruments, writes all her own music, and its 100 percent her own voice none of that crap people do to some popular singers with devices this is pure voice pure instrumentation pure her of course she has help from other musicians especially when she plays live. there are many great singer-musician-songwriters who happen to be female don't compare them it continues sexism each is unique. she is. "Marry Me" is my favorite album ever.

  • Clever video for this very good song...

  • I saw her this afternoon at this free concert @ Central Park. What a show! Magical.

  • how can such a ridiculously good-looking person produce such ridiculously good-sounding music. it aint fair :P

  • she is so pretty

  • I love how she yanks on that kids hair

  • Do people become so obsessed with a certain band or singer that every other musician gets compared to the object of their obsession? St Vincent doesn't have the tiniest atom of a blessed thing to do with Paramore. Hitting my head on the floor now.

  • @rauiyt Now lets compare St. Vincent to Nirvana, 2Pac and... maybe Beethoven? :D

  • LOVE it.

  • This person is good but paramore is very good as well

  • @Davidtwi wtf paramore doesn't compare to her! she's so creative and unique!

  • @bowsnflowers haha i guess we can take it from the person who speaks about st. vincent like "this person"

  • :D Love her expression at 3:12!

  • the kid in the sleeping bag!!! lmao!!

  • I wonder how many eight-year-old boys fell in love during this video's production

  • as far as i've seen this chicks videos are way better than any paramore, britney spears and shit thats been aired on mtv videos

  • I love that kids face at 3:10 :)

  • that kid... in the sleeping bag.... with the freaky lookin' expression on his freaky lookin face.....yeah I wanna hang the fuck out with him...he's cool as hell!

  • mind sandwich

  • 1:00 Farthest to the right. Is that one of the Sprouse Twins? Hahaha. Not that I care; I just recognized the loser(s). xD

  • Hahaha this shit is crazy. I love it.

  • i hope i find a wife like her. haha

  • love love love the look she gives the kid at 3:12 and I don't know why. :)

  • @calls4capslock Right? I was about to call that out, I love it!

  • she is the most innocently incredibly creepy woman i have ever seen or heard. its fantastic!

  • she is soo amaziiinnnggg!!!

  • Funny how boy scouts don't allow atheists.

  • where the hell did you get that idea haha

  • WHOAH 2:05 CREEPY

  • Yea I like laughed the whole time it was singing but really I'm disturbed on the inside. I'm even kinda crept out by the way I was laughing. fml

  • i think ive fallen in love

  • back off! she's mine! :)

  • I saw her first!

  • Where are the super-fast cuts from scene to scene! You mean I actually get to follow a visual story that doesn't insult me as it assaults me? Bravo St. Vincent. And yes, the music of St. Vincent is more than refreshing.

  • Refreshing! that's the word! :) She is extremely refreshing.

  • The problem with today's music is the formulaic decision from marketeers (Sony's and Warner's of this world) who's only desire is to make money.

If one follows the scores (the C's, D's and...) are organized in a way that music is the same. Words will matters close to nothing. They will talk about the importance of love -materialistic-, the golden teeth, the huge necklaces, the sexual movements and so and so forth and then comes this, the beauty of honest, intelligent music. Musical evolution

  • I like the singing caterpillar in a jar. :-)

  • This video is better than Beyonce's & Taylor Swift's combined.

  • Yo Bunny! I'm really happy for you and imma let you finish but......

  • Annie Clark is so delicate-looking. But she shreds like a beast live. And somehow it works.

  • That's what I love most about her. She's so brilliant live.

  • I saw her about a year ago when she opend for DCFC it was amazing !!!

  • Can't wait to see her in October... She's opening for Andrew Bird.

    Gonna be badass.

  • I"m sure there's a thing going on between Andrew and her and I'm not pleased!

  • I'm going to that show tonight!!! ahhhhh.. st. vincent and andrew birddd.

  • i just saw both of them together a couple weeks ago. i can confidentally say you should expect to be blown away!

  • i am psyched to see them play tomorrow!

  • Annie Clark is just simply amazing. Love the vid, love your music.

  • the last kid looks like the guitarrist (mathew i think) of KOL jaja!!

  • I love artists that when people ask you what kind of music they do, you simply cannot describe it because it's so unique and great. Miss St. Vincent definitely falls in that category!

  • how can I get into this scout troupe?

  • hahaha singing caterpillar.... nice

  • This is awesome!

  • you're a moron.

  • im going to have to disagree with you on that... st. vincent being average i mean not laura marling, shes amazing! marina and the diamonds and florence and the machine are also ace. im glad theres a few talented female songwriters around to conteract the likes of kate nash and la roux

  • Comment removed

  • I removed my comment, because you were talking to the marked down 13 times person and I misunderstood your comment. Sorry bout that!

  • luvit

  • does she ever blink?

  • maybe the director of the vid was strict. DON'T BLINK EVER!! ;)

  • mind sandwich and cool hat=<333333333333

  • The singing caterpillar made the video for me. I only recently discovered St. Vincent and am coming to enjoy her music very much.

  • i just checked wikipedia. apparently the title of this cd (Marry Me) is a reference to Maybae's decoy line from the funniest show ever, Arrested Development. i just thought i should share that eureka moment of realizing how two wonderful things are connected. i love you.

  • I TOO HAD THAT EUREKA MOMENT WHEN I READ IT. so much excitement in knowing that two things i love are related.

  • Haha, I listened to the album for the first time and the title instantly reminded me of Arrested Development :D

  • mind sandwich

  • She reminds me of a mix between Imogen Heap and Regina Spektor. Anybody else think so?

  • She has traits that are resemblant of both artists, yes.

  • to me she reminds me of My Brightest Diamond and Sufjan Stevens ... I can see Regina Spektor only in what she looks like

  • she's part of Stevens band

  • She's played with Sufjan and the Polyphonic spree. There's a musical resume if ever there was any.

  • First, at what point was any of that dribble a question? Secondly, assuming that all atheists are scum or smug or arrogant destroyers is just ignorant. Do I really need to bring up the cliche reasons as to why religion is not the answer? Like forcing guilt and suffering on the innocent. And what of all the wars brought on in the name of gods and religions?

  • Although I can sympathize to some extent with your view, I'd like to point out: You don't even need religion to get guilt, war and suffering. You just need good old human nature ;-). Religion is like a backdrop and it can be the backdrop for good things too.

  • Oh I forgot, I like the music. She doesn't remind me of Regina Spektor however, I'm not too familiar with Imogen Heap, so i can't tell. I was thinking Hanne Hukkelberg.

  • Very true. I apologize for making my comment seem stereotypical. Religion, based on reason and love, can and has been the basis for many beautiful things in history. I just can't stand it when people get on and spout off like they are the subject matter expert on life. Also, I really like this song/video. So, to see all these great comments and then that one moron hating on "thinking differently" just set me off.

  • Excellent, now I can sympathize to full extent :-)

  • You should really examine your thoughts before spewing them at people. Lumping people into categories because you donʻt understand why they believe it or are afraid of what they believe is a terrible way to go through life. Open-mindedness is a good start.

  • my mom saw her in the arts section in the new york times today, and told me to listen to her. I LOVE it. And she is very pretty.

  • the kid in the sleeping bag is my best friends brother!

  • that is so cool!

  • i love this, so creative!

  • Heard this on college radio (WRAS< Georgia State) today; got home, Googled on some of the lric and found this.

I was wondering who it was - sounded like it mightbe the Roches, but the accent wasn't quite right.

  • She reminds me a lot of Regina Spektor in this video and song... especially with that coat.

  • I think the way it's lit adds to it

  • Totally! just her look and the cinematography...and the quirky-ness

  • Imma guy who digs St Vincent but this song , to my ear , sounds like an overproduced but creative single pushed out by the rec comp .

Love the stuff she played @ SXSW .

Why do we have to care if she is pretty or ugly ????? sheeple

  • you are one awesome guy.

  • haha cool hat

  • I'm not sure whether I like this or not. I don't know what the lyrics are supposed to be implying. Does anyone have a good guess?

  • I think, but I am not completly sure, she is saying how no matter what you do, it is completely impossible to be remotely close as good and or holy as "Jesus"

  • mmm.

    I see.

    :D

  • Danny Elfwoman!

  • I never got my book eating badge. :(

  • I like this song! :D She has such a beautiful face-shape.

But I can't tell if shes dissing Jesus or not? :(

  • While Jesus is saving I'm spending all my days in backgrounds and landscapes with the languages of saints

While people are spinning like toys on Christmas day

I'm inside a still life with the other absentee

While Jesus is saving, I'm spending all my days

in the garden-grey pallor of lines across your face

While people will cheer on the spectacle we've made

I'm sitting and sculpting menageries of saints

  • Beautiful girl, awesome song.

  • i saw this band open for Death Cab for Cutie. they are pretty good.

  • tinsel!

  • nice video, indeed.

  • Annie always makes beautiful music! I hope she keeps doing this for the fun of it, and doesn't start making songs for the money like everyone else.

  • Nice coat!

  • how is that different from what the church and Christian music.. they do the same shit. at least she is intelligent about it....give the church money or spend eternity in hell...if thats not exploitation. idk what is...

annie clarke is incredible gorgeous...DAMN YOU JOHN

  • No one is better at exploiting Jesus for profit than Christians.

    Purpose Driven Life, anyone?

  • annie clarke is a goddess.

  • MIND SANDWICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just love that a little too much I think...lol

  • annie would you please "marry me" ?

  • i like this song....i like the sound. but what is it about exactly?

  • The easy answer is consumerism destroying spirituality.

The honest answer is probably whatever you want it to.

  • can anyone tell me what this song is about?

kind of in the dark to what she's saying?

  • god the kids were soo cute. thomas your becoming a little munchkin.

  • sound and image are not aligned... why?

  • is that the fun blame monster?

  • I really want that catapiller. Amazing song.

  • jesus rules!!!

  • that is a rediculous statement. that's like saying henry VIII caused WWI. yes, somewhere down the line you can find a train of thought that makes that true. that was a really extremem analogy but my point is that jesus didnt make the horrible things in church happen, it was the corruption in the church that caused it. it is jesus's words that caused a lot the efforts to make our world better like helping the poor and people in the third world, but i guess they dont matter

  • Wow..

  • como están feos esos mocosos JJ)

  • i want to marry this ladie

  • she is gorgeous!

  • i have a sleeping bag escape badge from scouts too!

  • aw- thank's pal

  • I now want to see a remake of Sound of Music starring Annie Clark. Come on, we've got the damn kids, this needs to happen now.

  • I love the coat she's wearing.

  • Me too.

  • I want it.

  • the boy at the last scene looks like gudjonson xchelsea and now barcelona player!

  • the singing caterpillar is so cute!

  • maybe YOU'RE the pervert.

  • yes yes yes

  • I think the kids are what really make this video cool!!! Annie's voice is just beautiful. Great video.

  • First of all, thanks for posting!!!

I love St vincents/Annie Clarks music, and love watching the live clips of her here on youtube, or listening on her record of course... but out of these 03:54, there is maybe 0:54 that i like... a few cool scenes though... but i wan't to see more of her, and less of all the kids runnin around...

  • I love the look at 3:12. But of course, nothing beats a mind sandwich.

  • Brilliant.

  • also, does this not remind anybody else of the video for the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Y Control?
