im seeing the comments on the other 2 vids and i just want to make it clear here. An easy way to tell the 3.0 from the 3.5 5th gen maximas is to look for sideskirts. The 02 03 have them and if it has no other body mods its a pretty easy to use that example. And if the tails arent tinted or swaped the 3.5 has chrome tail lights
the ser had at least 3 people in his car from what i could see and it sounded stock so i think thats pretty impressive and the ser probably would have pulled harder if they took it up top

@ferrariz24 dude...u r killing me. Swapping for an VQ35 does increase the HP, but it still cant change the fact that the Ser get more traction on to the wheels. Giving more HP is good, but getting to the wheels is another thing. Swapping a vq35 on that 2K maxima still cant beat the ser unless it's modified wit its suspension, ecu re-flash, exhaust+intake. Bolt ons itself doesnt change anything. A "maxima" is not an EVO. It doesnt gain 20+ hp with just bolt ons.
@ferrariz24 the 06 maxima is bigger and wider than the older gen. But its suspension compensate for its weight not to mention its HP + TQ is more. And dont duh me, because the displacements is basically still the same, still V6s. 3.0 and 3.5 has notin to wit its losing and winning. It's the number of cylinders that really matters. An 2.0 engine can kill a 2.5 engine. For exmpale, a sr20 can take on the KA25 anytime. A sr20 engine produces better HP and it's designed for forced induction.

One of my friend, have a 1999 maxima with an exhaust and intake from wwat i kno and he runs 14.2 sec on the dyno...which is not bad considering that a SRT-4 almost made the same.

That was a very good race. I've always preferred the Maximas over the Altimas though. Regarding overly-powerful FWD cars, I can relate. I drive a 279 hp Cadillac Seville (FWD) that has quite a bit of traction issues. I kid you not, but I've driven down the highway when it was wet out while going 60 mph, and I got the tires to break loose and spin around 80 mph before the car caught up. I've only been able to manage a best 0-60 of 6.6 seconds.

dump the 2 extra passengers and you'd put an extra 4 or 5+ car lengths on that max easily. I watched a video comparing having one passengers vs non and its remarkable how an additional 150lb passenger can make the difference
That Altima SER needs some engine maintenance because a 2000 Maxima wouldn't normally be able to keep up with an SER like that. I own a 2006 SER and no VQ30 Maxima can keep up with me. I keep my intake manifold.throttle body clean inside from oil..I use Redline group 5 synthetic ester oil every 8000 miles and run a Redline S1 fuel system cleaning every 3000miles to keep carbon buildup off the valves, fuel injectors and combustion chamber..And most importantly..Always use 91 Octane gas.
Here's a short lesson on the mechanical differences between the S-ER and the A33a 2000 Maxima. The S-ER has Sequential fuel injection that sprays fuel in a much more efficient way compared to the Max's Multipoint Injection that wastes fuel. The S-ER has a higher breathing intake plenum and more free flowing exhaust.Both cars weigh the same of 3200lbs, so the difference of 45 HP and 34ft/lbs of torque makes the S-ER much quicker. I have an SER and had a 2000 Max so I stand by my word.
I don't need a lesson on how these cars operate. I'm a Nissan master. The fact is the cars are so similar that the differences don't matter much. The curb weight of the max is 3245, and the se-r is 3316. That makes the lbs per hp for the max right around 14 and the se-r 12. Pretty damn close if you ask me. So all those goodies still make it a family car. If you wanna go fast, buy a Z! Don't get me wrong, the 3.5 altima is a great car, but it's a long cry from a race car,
i got 93 octane gas. depends where you live. the best gas I ever used is Sunoco. forget exxon, mobil, and shell . I dispise those ethanol based gases. thats major problems for cars these days. Never Corn Fuel!!! What about seafoam? is that a good fuel additive?
@GTnumber1 thats carbon not oil, if your getting oil in your TB and intake mani you need to get that looked at fast. Also its recommended to change your oil at least 3-5k miles not 8.
As for this video, that maxi could have been an automatic so not much of a win in my opinion but i do love the sound of the ser. Props.

It definitely not a stock 2000 Maxima. That would make it a 3.0 engine. It has to be an 02 or 03 with the 3.5. I raced my brothers 05 se-r in my dads 04 Maxima 4spd auto and we were dead even until 60 or so, then he pulled hard. His 3rd gear starts at 60, and he pulled.. real hard.
I love German cars too...but Nissan is DEF the best out of Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and all of those...in my opinion Nissan is just as good as BMW...Honda in 2nd...and the others are just crap...they last forever and all of that..but I think Toyotas and Mitsubishis are cheaply made and pretty much every one of their models are ugly inside and out..just my opinion..
Nissan takes their normal family sedan Altima and upgrade it's wheels a few more hp and suspension to a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR. I'm sorry but that is backwards thinking. How do you put so much power in a front wheel drive car, what are you supposed to do when a corner comes up and you can't give any throttle or you'll understeer right into a wall. With the exception of VW, the majority of german sedans are rear wheel drive. BMW and M-Benz are all rear wheel drive seans.
That's the only think I don't like about the SE-R's is that they are FWD, but even for a FWD they handle quite well, when it comes to corners that you can't take just slow down lol.
Yeah, I personally ain't much into drag racing, I was born and raised in Europe so I'm used to corners, but I did take the Altima down the 1/4 track ones because all my other friends were running their cars to lol.

FWD or not, it doesn't really matter as much as people make it out to be. Especially when you're off the throttle. RWDs have a better powertrain balance, but good suspension geometry and a limited slip differential helps the front wheels paw it's way through corners minimizing understeer and maximizing cornering speeds. Plus (Nismo) suspension upgrades further neutralize and balance understeer/oversteer. The Altima SE-R is a really nice, luxurious ride. It is lacking a limited slip though.
I had an 03' maxima T/E with an HSLD and some suspension mods to it and i can tell you it only handled a tiny bit better than my bros regular 03 maxima. Somebody that never drove those two cars would not have been able to notice the difference.
Plus, if you're going to put so much power down, why not to the rear wheels. Have you seen maxima/altima steering radius? It sucks!! The wheels only turn so much because they don't want people snapping axles because of the enormous torque!
Yea, but Mercedes and BMW also have a lower relibality rating than a Kia also. Whats the chances of you buying a car and taking it to a road course track?, the chances are none, plus FWD is better for everday driving and you dont loose as much hp thru the driveterain in FWD as you do a RWD.
Yea sure, that's why they are the benchmark for every car manufacturer. I had an 03 maxima and kept it stock for two years. Each year i had to change my coilpacks. No Benz or BMW will ever give you any mechanical problems unless you flood the engine with water.
The VQ is the only engine to be on Ward 10 best engines for 13 consecutive years. And a BMW DOES have a lower relibaity rating than a Kia, and Kia backs their little cars up 10years/100,000 miles, BMW dosent do that to ANY of their $100K+ cars, i guess they dont have faith in their cars like Kia does theirs. BMW is also know for having electrical/ECU problems, and the i-drive is shit, i dont see any old BMW's on the road but i do see many old Japanesse cars still going strong on the road.
The warranty the car manufactures offer is all psychological and it's targeted towards individual groups. People who buy KIA cannot afford break downs along the road, hence the warranty. BMW offers 5years/50kmiles no maintenance. They don't need to offer any reliability warranty because they DO NOT need to. It's not that they don't have faith.

Before my G i had an Altima 3.5SE, and than a BMW 550i, and i had to have the ECU replaced twice the two years i was leasing it, and the Idrive would go crazy, and the Navigation was always lost, and a BMW tech said BMW's are know for electrical problems, my first and last BMW for me, lol

wow, I raced a black Audi convertible a few days ago, I don't know what it was, had the body of a TT, it pulled up next to me and it was some rich kid, I was in my 2000 Maxima SE he was reving his engine being a show off, so at the stop light we took off, ( he motioned for a run ) and I beat it 2 and a half car links 4 lights down, the third one we ran LOL

Giving more HP is good, but getting to the wheels is another thing. Swapping a vq35 on that 2K maxima still cant beat the ser unless it's modified wit its suspension, ecu re-flash, exhaust+intake. Bolt ons itself doesnt change anything. A "maxima" is not an EVO. It doesnt gain 20+ hp with just bolt ons.

@ferrariz24 the 06 maxima is bigger and wider than the older gen. But its suspension compensate for its weight not to mention its HP + TQ is more. And dont duh me, because the displacements is basically still the same, still V6s. 3.0 and 3.5 has notin to wit its losing and winning. It's the number of cylinders that really matters. An 2.0 engine can kill a 2.5 engine. For exmpale, a sr20 can take on the KA25 anytime. A sr20 engine produces better HP and it's designed for forced induction.

@ferrariz24 if u wanna kno a good maxima, the 4th gen is a good choice. If pplz wanna modified maximas, they mostly do it with the 4 gen. Unlike the 5th gen, it doesnt have shifting problems. One of my friend, have a 1999 maxima with an exhaust and intake from wwat i kno and he runs 14.2 sec on the dyno...which is not bad considering that a SRT-4 almost made the same.

That was a very good race. I've always preferred the Maximas over the Altimas though. Regarding overly-powerful FWD cars, I can relate. I drive a 279 hp Cadillac Seville (FWD) that has quite a bit of traction issues. I kid you not, but I've driven down the highway when it was wet out while going 60 mph, and I got the tires to break loose and spin around 80 mph before the car caught up. I've only been able to manage a best 0-60 of 6.6 seconds.

That Altima SER needs some engine maintenance because a 2000 Maxima wouldn't normally be able to keep up with an SER like that. I own a 2006 SER and no VQ30 Maxima can keep up with me. I keep my intake manifold.throttle body clean inside from oil..I use Redline group 5 synthetic ester oil every 8000 miles and run a Redline S1 fuel system cleaning every 3000miles to keep carbon buildup off the valves, fuel injectors and combustion chamber..And most importantly..Always use 91 Octane gas.

Here's a short lesson on the mechanical differences between the S-ER and the A33a 2000 Maxima. The S-ER has Sequential fuel injection that sprays fuel in a much more efficient way compared to the Max's Multipoint Injection that wastes fuel. The S-ER has a higher breathing intake plenum and more free flowing exhaust.Both cars weigh the same of 3200lbs, so the difference of 45 HP and 34ft/lbs of torque makes the S-ER much quicker. I have an SER and had a 2000 Max so I stand by my word.

I don't need a lesson on how these cars operate. I'm a Nissan master. The fact is the cars are so similar that the differences don't matter much. The curb weight of the max is 3245, and the se-r is 3316. That makes the lbs per hp for the max right around 14 and the se-r 12. Pretty damn close if you ask me. So all those goodies still make it a family car. If you wanna go fast, buy a Z! Don't get me wrong, the 3.5 altima is a great car, but it's a long cry from a race car,

It definitely not a stock 2000 Maxima. That would make it a 3.0 engine. It has to be an 02 or 03 with the 3.5. I raced my brothers 05 se-r in my dads 04 Maxima 4spd auto and we were dead even until 60 or so, then he pulled hard. His 3rd gear starts at 60, and he pulled.. real hard.

Nissan takes their normal family sedan Altima and upgrade it's wheels a few more hp and suspension to a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR. I'm sorry but that is backwards thinking. How do you put so much power in a front wheel drive car, what are you supposed to do when a corner comes up and you can't give any throttle or you'll understeer right into a wall. With the exception of VW, the majority of german sedans are rear wheel drive. BMW and M-Benz are all rear wheel drive seans.

FWD or not, it doesn't really matter as much as people make it out to be. Especially when you're off the throttle. RWDs have a better powertrain balance, but good suspension geometry and a limited slip differential helps the front wheels paw it's way through corners minimizing understeer and maximizing cornering speeds. Plus (Nismo) suspension upgrades further neutralize and balance understeer/oversteer. The Altima SE-R is a really nice, luxurious ride. It is lacking a limited slip though.

I had an 03' maxima T/E with an HSLD and some suspension mods to it and i can tell you it only handled a tiny bit better than my bros regular 03 maxima. Somebody that never drove those two cars would not have been able to notice the difference.
Plus, if you're going to put so much power down, why not to the rear wheels. Have you seen maxima/altima steering radius? It sucks!! The wheels only turn so much because they don't want people snapping axles because of the enormous torque!

The VQ is the only engine to be on Ward 10 best engines for 13 consecutive years. And a BMW DOES have a lower relibaity rating than a Kia, and Kia backs their little cars up 10years/100,000 miles, BMW dosent do that to ANY of their $100K+ cars, i guess they dont have faith in their cars like Kia does theirs. BMW is also know for having electrical/ECU problems, and the i-drive is shit, i dont see any old BMW's on the road but i do see many old Japanesse cars still going strong on the road.

The warranty the car manufactures offer is all psychological and it's targeted towards individual groups. People who buy KIA cannot afford break downs along the road, hence the warranty. BMW offers 5years/50kmiles no maintenance. They don't need to offer any reliability warranty because they DO NOT need to. It's not that they don't have faith.

Yea i seen the vid on here about the 335i overheats trying to keep up with an Infiniti. Before my G i had an Altima 3.5SE, and than a BMW 550i, and i had to have the ECU replaced twice the two years i was leasing it, and the Idrive would go crazy, and the Navigation was always lost, and a BMW tech said BMW's are know for electrical problems, my first and last BMW for me, lol

wow, I raced a black Audi convertible a few days ago, I don't know what it was, had the body of a TT, it pulled up next to me and it was some rich kid, I was in my 2000 Maxima SE he was reving his engine being a show off, so at the stop light we took off, ( he motioned for a run ) and I beat it 2 and a half car links 4 lights down, the third one we ran LOL
