Being that color really wasn't an issue so much as language and religion were, many Muslims probably converted, some being aristocrats already just married into the Spanish Gentry, thus we have Don Pedro (Denzel) and Don John (Reeves).

It's a great movie, really funny. One of the few Shakespeare film adaptations that are actually quality. But that's probably because it has Kenneth Branagh acting and directing in it. He really knows how to make a good Shakespeare film. Definitely a must see :)
