@liddlebopeep Dont take it the wrong way, i have owned a 6000 and a bonneville and they were great cars. Pontiac in its hay day was great and profitable. But with mismanagement it lost all its potential. Its always a shame when a brand gets dropped but really it couldn't have gotten better than it already had. If you want a Pontiac go look in a used car lot somewhere. I think of this as putting it out of its misery.

Hey commerical guy it's not a "Buick" either. It's a rebadged Opel! Buick makes absolutely no sense in the GM hierarchy today. GM doesn't need two luxury brands (Buick and Cadillac), they need something sporty - PONTIAC - to slot inbetween mass-market Chevrolet and upscale Cadillac.

Global is the key word here, it shared the same platform as a crap load of other Gm global companies. So in your case the Sabb 9-5 is a re-badged Opel along with; Chevrolet Malibu, impala, Cadillac xts, Saturn aura, pontiac g6, Fiat corma, Holden Camadore. But no, NONE of these are re-badged Opels! @liddlebopeep Oh and to your Pontiac comment. Pontiac has been a dieing brand from mid 90's. Nothing near sporty. Buick- Will compete with luxury companies such as Lexus, Acura, and Lincoln. Cadillac on the other hand will compete against sport luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes Benz, ect. Chevy being the mainstream brand and GMC the higher truck brand. . Pontiac had no competitors but other GM brands. So really this is the best configuration of brands GM has that dont compete against each other.

We saw this commercial being filmed live on the streets of Chicago. The production folks allowed us to watch as long as we did not take pictures with flash. My family and I were all standing across from the intersection. We went up to the car afterwards and no one was in it--it was running, though. Very sharp! The actors and actresses in the commercial were all tall, fit and tan! Way to go, Buick and Leo Burnett!
